Well after a long 11 days past due date I went in and had my waters broken at 8am on Monday 28th May.
Nothing happened straight away so DH and I went off for a walk around the hodpital, down the stairs, up the stairs, down the stairs, up the stairs you get my drift.
Times are a big blur as i didn't have a watch on and couldn't see a clock.
About 9.30ish Deb (the midwife) suggested I have a shower and do some nipple tweaking and hip rotations, so off I went with DH sitting in the bathroom making jokes. Not long after contractions started, amazing because I didn't want to have the drip. DH was then timing me and would tell me when I was due for another, quite funny.
After about and hour maybe I was getting sick of standing so decided to go and lay on the bed, then they really started to ramp up big time. Wasn't sure how long things were going on but everytime I got a contraction I would pull on DH shirt, I ws tempted to bite his thumb but thought better against that. Before every contraction I would start shaking so much that my teeth were chattering. Deb then asked if I would like to stand so gravity could help but I wasn't sure if my legs would hold me and DH said I'll hold you, so sweet. So I made it to my feet and then within minutes if that it was time to push. A couple of pushes and grunts and his head was out, one more push and he was out.
First question, "what have we got?", a boy, said a teary DH. We were both so excited. I thought I was going to have a girl because the pregnancy was totally opposite to the previous but in saying that I had said that I wouldn't be surprised if it was a boy.
We are both totally stoked at having 2 boys only 2 years apart. We're already talking about kicking the ball and camping and fishing etc.
I did end up with a 2nd degree tear which was stitched with 20 million stitches and quite tender for about a week, getting better now.
Second time around a lot easier with knowing what to expect and knowing that when you feel that stinging sensation it's nearly all over. Feeding is easier too so nipples not so tender.
2 very content boys, not talking of a 3rd but haven't said no to a 3rd either. Going to enjoy what I've got in the meanwhile.
