OK I know it's a bit personal...but I wondered if anyone else has experienced colostrum (not sure of spelling)?

I've had it twice now and can sqeeze it out like miniture toothpaste out of a tube:laughing: I've only seen it on my left one though not the right yet.

.....and do you get painful breasts, especially when it's cold?

Haven't had any colostrum but I know what you mean about sore boobs inthe cold - it feels like my nipples are so frozen they might snap off in the cold!!

Well..........................

I stopped breastfeeding DD when she was about one when she self weaned and because I got pregnant when she was still being breastfed (late last year - then m/c in Jan) I still had milk.... and I still have a little milk/colostrum. I doubt it will dry up now.

I also have painful breasts :(

yep I had colostrom quite early in my 1st pregnancy though can't remember when exactly now. and yes my breasts have been sore. I am going to be buying a belly bra soon and although this is meant to be more for belly support have heard good things about being braless in them and still being relatively supported.

And I need to go buy new maternity bras as m/s made me lose weight so I'm no longer a 12whatever cup and the 12's I have are irritating me under the arms! I think I'll be 10DD so goodness knows where I can find one in a store without shopping online (need to be fitted regardless due to the weightloss)

Mich just a thought but are you wearing maternity bras yet? and are you also wearing one to bed? I've found I was sore in my first pregnancy especially if I wasn't properly supported during the day or in bed at night during winter.

and yip mine get cold in the cold lol, so I try not to go outside often unless i've got at least 4 layers on my top half lol

Ooh, I bought a belly bra on Saturday. I don't have much of a belly yet but I'm finding it's helping my back which is nice.... I imagine when my belly gets bigger it will be good support (there's plenty of growing room in it). Can't comment too much on the boob support though, I am a 12DD and am generally not inclined to go braless even when at home as I need the support.

Also, can anyone tell me are maternity bras sold with underwire? Someone told me they don't make any with underwire and if I don't wear underwire they will probably hang to my knees!!

nope they don't, not good for the boobs, cause can block milk ducts etc, or something like that, they are quite comfy and have heaps of support, have you tried any on? you should, there are lots of different designs of them, I like the one with the triangle inner bit, so when you unlatch the frount part to feed you still have the suport by a hollow triangle, IYKWIM, I hated the ones with just the side support,

I just brought a few for $7 each, they are just wonderfull

I havent got colustrum yet but my boobs have been sore since it got cold. I have been wandering about the boob thing though, I am currently wearing bra's with underwires and got told this is not good at this stage of my pregnancy. So would you girls agree that we should all be wearing maternity bra's now..?

Oh how sad.....

I haven't stopped wearing maternity bras since number 1 just due to out of habit and was just thinking that maybe I should wear a nice proper bra before bubs arrives and now you girls are saying to start wearing them! hehehehee LOL :p

Thanks Jo. I haven't tried any on as yet - my boobs haven't gone up in size actually (though they feel an awful lot heavier!), I think it's due to losing so much weight early on in my pregnancy. I guess I am gonna have to just let them roam free though if there aren't any maternity bras with underwire!!

I get sore nipples in the cold, but then its more like pins and needles, and my right one goes really dark purple. Hurts alot for about five min.
Is this normal?

Samarah-Not sure if that's normal or not - might be worth getting it checked out though.

On the boob topic.
What do ppl plan to wear at night?
I wore this elastic fitted tanktop cos it was nice being free and easy. My only issue is that the breast pads used to roam. I'd wake up with one at my navel and the other at my collar bone LOL. It was a real sexy look - black eyes, cave woman hair, baby fat, dried milk marks and bizarre lumps where the pads ended up.

I am going to find the comfiest maternity bra I can find and wear that to bed. Thats what I did last time. I have a friend who couldnt stand bra's in bed so she used to wear nothing to bed and wrap a towel around herself for leakage. I think that would be more uncomfortable but she liked it better.

Hi everyone i'm new on here
I got some new bras the other day - no maternity ones as yet - but i have gone up a cup size (now a D).
I have been sleeping in just a plain black bra with no underwire. I will get some decent crop tops or sports bras or something though. I think soon enough i will find a nice maternity bra that i can wear to bed. I like the looks of those ones that have the triangle bit in them.

To answer your question Antlmummy, I got refitted with soft supportive bras with no wire at about 3 months when I went up a cup size but I'm not sure what you mean by maternity bras. Are they the ones where the strap unclips to breast feed?

I don't wear a bra to bed I wear a fitted tank top instead which provides a bit of support. Umm to ask a stupid question, why is it recommended to wear a bra to bed - is it to stop leaks??

This is all new to me so I was grateful to read your advice. Is the belly belt one which goes around you waist? I saw something like that in a maternity shop but wasn't sure what it was.

Sorry stop:ecomcity: now!

I was only a large B/small C and so far are more of a medium C and am finding my underwire bras (which I lived in) are now uncomfortable. I have bought one maternity bra and have a couple of other normal ones that are not maternity but are not underwire.
I have not noticed any colostrum but my nipples do tingle from time to time.
I figure in bed unless my BBs get really big I might wear a crop top and perhaps use the pads that stick to your top/bra...

Nicole - I have never seen sticky breast pads, that is a good idea!

Mich - When your milk comes in after you have the bub you will leak alot at night. If you dont wear breast pad's you will wake up wet. Thats why most girls wear a bra to bed, to hold the pad's in. Also your boobs get REALLY sore coz they are so full of milk so sometimes its nicer to wear as much support as you can.
I have a belly belt that is just 3 different sizes of elastic with button on one end and button hole on the other. It doesnt go around my whole belly....

I haven't moved into maternity bras yet and am not having any sore boobs or leaking anything as yet...

I did get some supportive and stretchy bras at about 12 weeks as I'd gone up a size (to a 14C) and I still only wear normal tops or nighties to bed.

mmmm maybe I'm abnormal?

Mich - Belly bra (http://www.fertilemind.com.au/page.asp?2574=372938&E_Page=353295) is like a supportive top which helps support the weight of your belly and take the pressure off your back.

a belly support belt (http://www.babyshop.com.au/cube/view_product.php?product=52010-2929) which just goes under the belly.

Both of which are designed to take the pressure off your lower back.

ErinP- Was just thinking the person who goes braless in it is a smaller cup size then me.. I was 12E while Breast feeding and need to update my bras as I've had then for a bit now so won't be as supportive.

someone asked about wearing a bra to bed sorry can't remember who. I met a friends mum and she didn't wear maternity bras often, breast few 5 kids and at 35 was able to tuck her breasts in to her pants. She said her's was definately from not wearing bras as she didn't think she needed them.

Wanting four kids I definately kept that in mind but there are so many options out there now

The more support your breasts have the better basically. Especially when you have a larger cup size as they dont lose their elasticity as they go up and down a lot after having baby in between feeds especially once baby is sleeping say 6 hours or so. And yes also for the nursing pads to put in your bra so you don't leak. t was so bad after I had DS I had to change them twice during the night and sometimes I even leaked through still some nights.

Pre-DD I would usually wear underwire bras usually in D cup. Then with my first pregnancy I found some supportive bras without underwire. Then once DD came along I wore my maternity bra constantly and moved up to DD territory, as I was quite the leaker for the first 3mths at least, so although I had the sticky breast pads (after trying every one on the market, including reusable ones), I still had to have them in a maternity bra to keep them in place or I woke up with my sleepwear all wet and cold (remember this was also a winter baby!!).
Last pregnancy I did have colostrum from around 28 weeks or so, but didn't need breast pads, as it didn't leak, I just noticed it under hot water in the shower. Haven't had any yet, but I did stop bf DD when I was 12 weeks pregnant, so I think I'm all dried up atm, despite now being an E cup (what size will they be by the time baby arrives?
Although its getting cold, my boobs have been hurting on and off for the last few weeks!!
