View Full Version : Colin Buchanan
are there any other christian mummies (or non christian :) ) who think Colin Buchanan is tops?
i love his cds and dvds, the dvds are like a christian version of playschool, very entertaining for the little ones, lots of singing and dancing and very simple explanations about the Bible :) and his cds are great background when the kids are playing and stuff, its great to hear them singing along, and i just melt watching coops try to do the actions to 'my God is so big' :D
he's much much better than daggy old vege tales;)
I've loved Colin since I was little. Well I wasn't that little when he came out but my mum would drag me to the Gympie Country Music Muster and he was really good, both his kids and adults collection :)
I have a signed CD of his somewhere.. and a Colin Buchanon Commemorative Walnut...
Hi Coops
We've got one of his CDs (but I confess I have not played it much). Is he also the Colin on Disney Playhouse (ch 7)?
I liked Rocfish - are they still around? I noticed the address I had for their website no longer works. I think they're cool too.
Cheers
yup, the same one :)
he seems to have a way with kids, they all love him :)

I have never heard of him, but might look into it..want fun things for the baby that involve God and not just drivel!
~Hey DM, he is a popular childrens entertainer, as well as a country and western singer ,he is a presenter on playschool and playhouse disney and is also a christian, so alot of his solo stuff for kids are songs about God, he is very good. :) (oh my dh says he is very professional :) )
~TeaLady, i dont know if we want her to explain about the walnut, lol!!:D
Ah OK..I can't stand childrens TV
I can just about cope with HI 5 lol
I was raised on no TV :( Unless it was educational, so maybe this is why I run for the remote when the kiddies programs come on lol
"Every mountain, Every river, Every waterfall..
The one and only God,

I haven't seen his stuff. What ages would he be good for? Can you get it from Koorong or do you have to get it on the net? sorry - bit ignorant aren't I?
koorong would definetly have it :)
I find my local christian book/music store stocks lots of his stuf, and will order in anything you want to :)
His stuff is great for any age, my 13 mth old dances to the music, it is so cute!! :)
Please explain.....:)
When he first came out (okay, maybe not first but when I first heard about him.. his Measure of a Man (adult album) was out) his little 'thing' were walnuts which were printed on the "Colin Buchanon, Measure of a Man" and he called them his Commemorative Walnuts :D

Thanks Seekrit - you've cleared that up (I think!).
I love his Christmas CDs - sooooo hilarious but also some serious ones. Also taught Prov 3:5-6 memory verse to my class last yr and it's a beautiful setting. A great idea to set Bible verses to music - really helps with memorisation. I find his albums a little bit hit and miss sometimes, but deifinitely worth it all the same - I just love his enthusiasm and I think kids pick up on that.
Oh yeah, nearly forgot - "I want my mummy" is the BEST album I reckon you could get for kids aged 8-12. He has a great sense of humour!

And here I thought I'd posted in a thread of sweet and innocents! :p
~you did, thats why i was so shocked!! ;)
~tea lady, i havnt heard of 'i want mummy' before, i always assumed he catered more to the littlies, or grown ups, i think i will have to get that for my 9 and 8 yr olds. :)
My faves are '10, 9, 8, God is great' & his version of 'My God is so Big'. I sing them to EDen all the time! I love Colin. I taught his songs to the kids at school where I used to work, too! :D
Love,
Nan. xx
Nan, they are my favourites too!!! :D

Hey Erin, if you want to get "I want my mummy", try his website (it's something logical like colinbuchanan.com.au) since then he gets more of the profit (rather than Koorong!). They're very helpful on the website! I hope you manage to track it down - your older 2 would be just the right age to get into it :D
