Hi, I am very new to all of this, but excited as today was our first full-time day on cloth thanks to the 8 Hautes I picked up at the expo!!!! I have always used Bio Zet and have been using it for the nappies too (only 1/2 the amount though), and read on the Haute website today that washing with enzyme cleaners is BAD for them, and BioZet does say it contains enzymes, so is it OK or not? I thought it was just a normal washing powder but now I am confused! And what do they mean on the nappy websites when they say use a non-additive detergent? Is that referring to additives such as enzymes??

Wow, I always thought that detergents like Bio-Zet would be fine!

The stuff that I do know to avoid is anything with built-in fabric softeners (a lot do these days) and natural products such as Lux flakes etc. Stuff for sensitive skin like Amolin etc is fine though, all that stuff is not a prob.

I use whatever is on special and available in the huuuge 10-20 kilo tubs at Big W. I just use a formula scoop full, it's all we need.

So sorry, not much help! :o :D

I know, I thought Bio Zet was just a run of the mill detergent (I also get it in the big tubs at Big W!) but I actually read about the enzymes on the Haute product description and it says that if you use any enzyme cleaners it ruins the nappies and voids all warranties!! I don't know if they are referring to ones that are added to some washing powders (like BZ) or special enzyme cleaners??

Yup don't use Bio-zet because of the enzymes. I don't recommend it for more smocking either :( it's not good for delicate fabrics.

Bugger that is what we use too - I have a huge box of the stuff! I guess it might be a better idea to stick to the gentle stuff i use on Nicks clothes for the nappies!

Anything with enzymes shouldn't be used on nappies (let alone your own clothes imo). Fragrance free and enzyme free detergents mean less risk of a skin reaction.

What's the problem with the Lux flakes PS do you know? :detective:

Lux flakes coat the fabric with the soap residue, making them less absorbant.

I use Drive liquid. Have not read the bottle but is that OK? Which is the best product to use?
