I started work for the first time (post uni) when my daughter was 8 months. I have been working for a month and am really enjoying it (I casual teach so no class preparation, 8.30 - 3.30 hours). Do any other mums enjoy returning to work? (Bub is sick today so I am at home....)

Work is what keeps me sane I think. I love my little girl to bits but I could'nt be a stay home mom (no offence to anyone). I was at home for 8 months after she was born and I was loosing the plot. I needed to get back into it. I felt so guilty for feeling this way but work, home, etc is a good balance for me. Now don't get me wrong, its so hard some days, working 8.45 to 5.15pm and rushing home to take care of her and all. Its tiring but I wouldn't wanted any other way.

I couldn't stay at home but so far cannot say that I have enjoyed work.

I did casual teaching as well initially and I absolutely hated it. I hated not knowing whether I was working the next day or not, and dreaded the phone call so much that I couldn't sleep at night. Sometimes I would have to switch my mobile off just to get some rest!

What is your secret to enjoying it?? After 6 months teaching part-time (secondary) I am now committed to changing my career. My whole life all I wanted to be and all everyone thought I would be was a teacher, but after time away from the classroom I've been so disillusioned by the behaviour and apathy of kids that I can't take it any more. I am putting in too much work and effort and getting absolutely nothing in return (it wasn't always like this, btw!)

Are you primary, out of interest?? If so, knew I should've gone primary, lol!!
