I'm just curious about weaning. Bubs is 11 months and has three feeds a day. Thought he was ready to drop one but he tells me otherwise!! I'm not even sure if I will actively wean him or let him self wean. With self weaning when does this usually occur (or is there no usually?!?). He has 3 main meals a day plus morning and arvo tea. When he does start to drop these feeds, do I ned to give him milk in a cup as as replacement?? So far everything has gone smoothly and bub has dictated the pace but as he is coming up to 12 months I'm a little confused.

Any experiences/advice would be helpful.... thanks in advance!

Hi Jembelina,

I encouraged child lead weaning with my two boys after breastfeding them No1 to 3+(I don't really know how many months because it just happened slowly) After he was about 18 mnths he stoped asking for it as much and only really feed for comfort and sleep. He was eating and drinking all the things our family eats and drinks. No2 to 15mnths I wasn't ready to stop but he just stoped and that was it, I started pumping to give him breastmilk in a cup untill he decided to hop back on. He has just had his 2nd birthday and would have had 2 sucks at the breast since he stoped at 15mnths.

So its up to you what you ulitmately choose but it sounds as though he knows what he wants.

This link is to ABA all about feeding todlers and child lead weaning hope its helpful:)
