Hi

I am sure I am raising an accident prone baby or maybe it is boys in general. When we were on holidays over the new year, DS pulled the bedside lamp off the table and it smashed on his head. Luckily no stitches. I had made sure that the unit was toddler proof but obviously not enough. Today we were swimming at a friends house and in their pool they have a large step which is great for the kids to splash around in. DS misjudged the ledge and split his chin on the paved ledged. A trip to the doctor, a needle and two stitches was the outcome. He is only 13months!!!! Are anyone elses children accident prone or is it a boy thing?

You poor thing! :)
My DD is hugely accident prone, a year ago she fell backwards out of a trolley, and knocked herself out (very very scary) and then on Monday she fell backwards off one of her little chairs and did it again :(. 2 hours at the hospital, but she's fine. I feel like the worlds worst mum. She dropped a little ladder on her toe at childcare and the whole nail has turned black. She runs into walls on a regular basis and is constantly covered in bruises. She fell off her bike on Wednesday and has a huge bruise on her knee. My DS has never been like this. I don't think it's a boy thing, I think it's a monkey thing!
I can feel my hair turning grey.....................

Bailey sounds like a perfectly normal toddler that is allowed to explore and expand his knowledge of our big world!

I was accused of beating my dd when she was 12 months old as she was covered in bruises ... I tried to tell the chn that she was an incredibly active id and got the bruises all by herself, but she wouldn't listen. So ... I said "you look after her for ½ an hour!" and walked out! In the time I was away, she climbed the shelves, climbed onto the desk and jumped off, stood up under the desk bumping her head, ran straight into a wall while looking backwards and a couple of other things that i forget. Anyway, apologies were given and I was sent on my way with my active and self inflicted bruised child!

When ds got to this age and was also covered in bruises ... they believed me when I stated her was very active ... they had seen my dd!

My dd has had a cut glued on her face, several sprains and other minor injuries. Ds has had a cut to his hard palate and some other minor injuries.

Welcome to toddler parenthood!
