I was just thinking, we don't neccessarily need someone with the $$$ for a co-op - you know we could just nominate a leader, and all transfer the payment the day the order is placed, then the person can then pay for it when the orders clear 2-3 days later...:detective:

I really need some hemp! I used all my hemp from the co-op I did to make some inserts for the nappies I've made for my SIL, and I had none left over for myself!

I'm happy to run one, but don't have the $$$ at the moment to pay upfront for it all, maybe there would be some people interested in paying first?

Phineas when were you looking to have the money due if its 2 weeks time then i will have 2mts of bamboo and 3 mtrs of hemp or if only bamboo is ordered then i would get 4mts of that only because its a little more expensive. If its a bit longer till we have to pay then i would be interested in a bit more. I am more then happy to pay for the stuff before you order it if it means i am able to get it at the discounted price i was looking on some of the web sites yesterday for more hemp and bamboo and was shocked at the prices.

Well how about I have a look at Tiny Toosh or somewhere, and we'll pick two things to orser. Do they have bamboo velour? I was thinking bamboo velour and hemp or something?, We could set a payment date of say, 3 weeks time?
I might set up a thread for it and see who is interested. But let me ask a mod first to make sure running another co-op is cool.

Varies depending on how much you order - but just say between $13-$16 for hemp fleece, a couple of $$$ more for bamboo fleece - velour is exy though

I'd love a small amount of bamboo velour. I haven't ever seen it but it just sounds so nice! :D
I cut up nearly all my bamboo last Wednesday and now just need to overlock it, but velour sounds yummy. Ok, off to have a look somewhere.
As for dying, any synthetic material (and I am guessing the bamboo velour will contain some synthetic on the back) can be hard to dye. Natural fibres such as cotton, wool etc... take dye really well.

the composition can be different depending on where the fabric is sourced from. some have a higher polyester percentage so wouldn't dye well.

I'd definately be after some bamboo fleece - I just received a 1/2 m of bamboo fleece and a whole meter of hemp.. im seeming to like the feel of the bamboo more so than the hemp - but not like i'd feel it thru all the layers anyway lol

Snaps Australia have bamboo fleece at $16/m wholesale incl postage (carton buy -about 26m in a carton), but its out of stock til mid July...

I'd be keen to join the co-op...

I have just ordered some hemp and bamboo velour, really cheap, but I can't find any bamboo fleece. I would be interested in a bamboo fleece co op.

bamboo fabric store have 271 mts avail on preorder - due in on monday... roughly $21/mt....

im happy to organise this if you all want on the proviso that the money is transfered upfront - as i dont have the funds to be left in the lurch!

so if you are interested - plz pm me your details and let me know how much that you are interested in - say by sunday nite... then i'll ask the company if they'll do it any cheaper..

ok i have just spoken to Bamboo Fabric Store - If we buy over 20 mts in a co-op we can get it for 16.50/ mt - which works out to $2.75 per nappy cut!
