Every baby is different so it could be another few months or it could be tomorrow. When you say swollen gums what do you mean - I have never heard of a baby having swollen gums before:confused: Rosy cheeks also can be caused from the cold and most babies around this time in the year will get rosy cheeks regardless or if they are teething or not.

Most babies will get a tooth by at least 1 year of age but most around the 6 month mark.

Cobey gets swollen gums as well.
His first 4 teeth came through rather quickly, the next two took 2 months of ickyness.

Currently I'm waiting on tooth number 8 who is 2 weeks in the making..

Mine were all different no swollen gums though either just hot gums :)

DD number one was about 8 months when she cut her first
ds was 4 months
dd number 3 was 7 months
They all vary from my lot ;)

Both my bubs were very different.
DS had raised gums and occasionally seemed to be in a little pain coz of his teeth. This started at around 3/4mths, we had a few days here and there where he would chew on everything and grizzle all day. He didn't get his first tooth til he was 17mths, and when he finally did get we didn't realise for a few days coz he wasn't grizzly at the time.
DD got her first at 7mths, so much closer to the average age. She wasn't too worried by the teeth coming thru, but she was chewing on her bottle alot around that time. She also had really rosey cheeks, they actually felt warm to touch and I thought she was getting sick.

Ugh I wonder about this too.
When my DD got teeth we never even knew they were coming - she would wake up in the morning and it was like "oh! you got a new tooth!". Never played up at all.

Now with DS it's been hell. His first tooth came up about 4 weeks ago after two weeks of sleepless nights during which we had NO IDEA what the hell was wrong with him.
The second one is just under the surface - it has been for about a week - and we're back to sleepless nights again and waiting for it to finally come out.
How many of these damn things do they get again??!! I think I'll send him to my mother's until he's done :banghead:

i couldnt handle it today  he just wouldnt stop all day all night it was like he was doing it just so he didnt have to sleep just so he could have attention, everytime he would fall asleep id put him down in his cot or stop rocking him and bag sceaming :crying: started again and again and i ended up calling my mum and asking her to take him for a while, he came back with a smile on his face he slept for 2 of the 3 hours she had him and was a very good boy im told, not one scream... well what am i doing wrong??
my mother seems to think he is picking up on me stressing about him be sick and teething so he is stressing too... sounds reasonable but how can i not stress after no sleep for a week and a bit??
anyway he has just gone in to the cot for the first time in 24 hours so im gonna go sneek in some sleep while he is sleeping hopefully we can get at least 5 or 6 hours sleep that would make me very :D happy...

mummybunny I forgot to suggest in my earlier post but try the Brauer's teething relief - we find it helps a bit.

I so know where you're coming from with the stressing, don't worry I'm the same at the moment :hugs:
Sleep deprivation seriously messes with your head (I was up with DS every hour, on the hour all freaking night last night :( )

yes we bought some of that yesterday and last night Riley slept 10 hours im so proud he is in a better mood today so im guessing the pressure has come away from his teeth and maybe it will be a while before they come up...(god i hope not though, not looking forward to more teeth thats for sure)
