It all starts with DS#1.
I went into labour, got to the pushing stage. I was pushing for two hrs and was then told that DS #1 was posterior and stuck. It was then decided that I would need an emergency c/s.
The ob I had said that there was no way that DS would have come out becuase I was too small (CPD)and DS was too big 8Ib 11oz. He went on to tell me that back in the old days we would have both died.
Forward 2yrs to the 27th of May.
It was 7pm on the 27/5/07 and I started to get a bit of period and back pain. I had been getting it all that week and loosing my plug over the week too.
I was having contractions but unaware what they were. This went on for about 45 mins. By 7.45 they were 3mins apart and getting really intense...I now knew it was the real thing!
I rang my lovely doula and informed her that I will be going to the hospital in about an hr or so. I got things organised and headed off to the hospital. We got there at about 9.15pm. By this time my contractions were really strong and getting closer.
My doula arrived and was talking me through the contractions. We tried the birthing ball but that didn't help with the pain. I had planned on walking around during labour, having a shower but all that went out the window. I was in alot of pain and by this stage I was asking for the epidural which stated in my birth plan that i didn't want it.
My Ob arrived about 15min after I got to the hospital and he did an internal to see how dialted I was. I was so scared he was going to say one or two cm as I was already asking for the epidural. I was really surprised to find that I was already 7cm. He broke my waters at the same time. After finding out that I was 7cm I didn't want the epidural as I felt I was so close in such a short time. My hubby, doula and ob game me the extra encouragement I needed to not have the epi. I did however want to suck on the gas. THe mid wive game me the gas and I just wanted to sit back on the bed with my eyes closed, and suck on my gas! My doula put on some soft music and dimmed the lights for me. I felt much better. Hubby and doula were talking me through each contractions and giving me a massage at the same time.
At 11pm I started to get the urge to push. I couldn't believe it! I was 10cm!
My ob came back and started talikng me through the pushing. Each contraction was making the urge to push stronger. The pushing was so hard and I was getting so tired.
I remember getting this buring sensation and my ob saying one more big push...'come on you can do it'. I felt the head pop out and one more quick push and my baby 'ZAC' was born into the world.
He was born at 11.43pm after 45mins of pushing. They placed him onto my chest. It was overwhelming. I could hold my baby straight away and he wasn't taken away from me like DS#1.
I was in absolute shock, I could believe that I had given birth to my baby boy vaginally. It was such an intense and overwhelming experience. Hubby was in tears, I was in shock! I was so proud of myself. My body did what it was suppose to do.
My ob was fantastic. I didn't even feel as though I was going for a VBAC. He treated me no different to any other labouring women.
That's one for the ob's who said I wouldn't be able to deliver a baby more than 6Ib vaginally.
Well guess what?
Zac was 9Ib 7oz! Head size 36.5
I am still on a big high from the whole experience and it brings a massive smile to my face every time I think about it.
TO all those going for a VBAC...you can do it:thumbsup:
