Hi all,
Just had a query. Oliver is 17 months and when we go out he wears his fancy Italian sandals (very fancy:rolleyes: ), anyway I don't want him trashing them by running around outside in them. So far he has been going bare foot but I would really like to get him some little slip on thong or similar for wearing to death outside.
I was concerned about him wearing them, as they don't look like the most supportive shoe but what else do you put them in?
Also he is a bit small and wears a size 4 at the biggest, so I have had a lot of trouble finding this type of shoe in his size.
Any suggestions?
Thanks:)

We got Nathan some of those strappy sandle type things, you know like the bob the builder ones. He only really wears them around the yard (we have lots of prickles) or on his Grandparents' farm.
He has a good pair for wearing out.

That's what I was thinking of Sarie, just for around outside at home.
I can't find any under a size 5 though.
Maybe if I keep an eye out I'll get lucky.:)

Have a look in somewhere like payless or BigW I can't remember where we found Nathan's little ones. His last pair of good shoes were size 9 - OMG he's huge.
A lady was shocked the other day when I said he's not 3 till April. Tall and skinny, most of his pants are size 1 and he wears a size 4 shirt...

Don't stress I get the shocked looks but for the opposite reason.
O 18 months in 10 days and still wears some 00's.

He must be tiny!!! PJ doen'st even wear 00 anymore;)
Poor Nat lost more weight when he had his ear infection last week and now he's gone off his food a bit cause his teeth are sore, maybe he'll finally get his 2year old molars! Though both his dad and I are tall, and I was a stringbean as a kid.

O weighs about 9kg and last time I checked his height he was way off the bottom. We are both short and DH is very small framed.
He eats like a pig and is happy as larry so I'm not concerned. Just wish I could find shoes to fit him.

That's it hey, if they're in propotion and happy that's all that matters. On of my friends as a little girl 6 months older than PJ and she weighs about 2 kg less. She's tiny but they are both short and slim. She got a lot of grief because she wasn't putting on weight, but she looks in proportion, she's walking (though it looks funny cause she's so little) and she's happy and healthy.
I'm really just jealous, I only seem to make monster babies! I'd dream of having a 7pounder...;)

O was no slim jim when he was born.
His weight was almost 3.7kg and his length was 46cm so he was this short fat thing. Very cute.:)

I have found that KMart has the best range of small sizes, I just bought a size 5 Spalding velcro strap sandal/thong for DS2.
They are quite a nice looking and very supportive with a thick sole.

For little feet it is actually best if there is some give in the sole, a flexible sole is easier to walk in than a stiff one. I found some great little sandals they were made from wetsuit type fabric with velcro at the ankle. I bought some pink ones but they had green/blue too. Good luck with your search:)

HL - I have bought slip on sort of shoes like you are describing in size 4 from Target and from pumpkin patch (they were velcro ones so perfect for sandboxes and beaches and backyards.) HOpe you find something.
(I have the opposite - I am very short and my nearly 3 year old looks like she will be close to 6 ft!)

I have the spalding sandals for Dan ... in fact I have bought them 2 years in a row as they are such good shoes ... straight last and very flexible, easy to get on and off etc.

The best shoes that I found for when my kids were tiny (Bella was a size 3 until 18mths) were jellies. They have so many advantages ... flexible, straight last, easy on and off, doesn't matter if they get wet or dirty - just hose them off etc.

I found that babys'r'us was the best place to find them, but Kmart does seem to have them as well. Babys'r'us had some really cute little boys ones and dainty girls ones. i still buy Bella jellies for everyday use ... had to get her school sandals the other day ... they cost $40.00! Sacrilege for a child who will only keep growing really fast! And ... she is now a size 11! When did she get so big? and who said she could???? Not me!

My daughter used to wear Clark first walker shoes. They are really durable for outdoor wear and the soles are really soft for their feet. They cost me about $40 but she was in them every day so i thought it was worth it. They only go up to size 5 and then they have to get other shoe types.

I bought a pair of the velcro foam like sandals for Jenna at Target, size 4. They are 'winnie the pooh' ones, cost about $10.

I got them for the park and beach, cos the sand in the sandpit is pretty dirty and her 'good' shoes were black.

She's a little one too....she still wears some of her 000 pants as knicker bockers!:D Most of her pants are 0 or 00!
