I'm wondering how long it took you to conceive your 2nd, 3rd, etc babies? Did you find as you got older your time to conceive took longer?

We're trying for No.3 and for the first time I didn't get pregnant first time (although a bout of unexpected mastitis may have had something to do with this).

We conceived No.1 first try (actually, he was a bit of an 'accident') and no.2 was conceived the first month after giving up breastfeeding. I was 33 and 34 when I gave birth to them respectively. I'm now nearly 36 and hope that my age is not holding me back all of a sudden.

Would be interested to hear your stories.

Hi RuthK

I conceived my ds at 31 and it was pretty much straight away. With dd1 it took about 9 months and I have to admit I was starting to worry, I was 34-35 then. We eventually worked out that I was ovulating late in a 5 week cycle. With my third dd2 she was 'unexpected' but very much wanted and valued. I was 36 when I gave birth.

I think some people are just lucky and in some cases age doesn't seem to matter too much. I know that fertility is supposed to drop past 35 but there are plenty of women in their late 30s and early 40s wheeling around prams. Good luck and hope you conceive soon, it is so frustrating when it doesn't happen straight away.

Easterlily :)

Gosh...
We were TTC #1 for 5 months and the same for #2 (I was 31 with DD1 and 33 with DD2). I had heard that 6 months is "average"(although for what demographic I have no idea)...I wouldn't get *too* worried just yet.

Cheers (and have fun practicing :D )

My first took me 6 months after coming off the pill, and I was 33 at the time. (he arrived on my 34th birthday!).
The 2nd time it only took 1 month and actually caught us by surprise, cause we expected it would take longer based on the first time. I was 36 when I fell pregnant, but didn't carry to full term.
I am now 37 and am 7 weeks pregnant now. This time it took 5 months, and I was beginning to worry, particularly about the age factor.
It's easy to say "don't worry", but harder to do, I know. Everyone say "relax, it will happen".
Have fun practising and, yes, I will say it, try not to worry :D
