Personally, i think only you can make that decision cause only you will know when she is ready. Every child is different. We are looking at getting a bed for DS and he is only 17mnths, but he is so ready.

my dd was 16 months when we put her into a toddler bed. she is now 21 months and for 4 months has been sleeping in a standard single bed.
if your child can climb up onto toher beds and is sleeping reasonably well through the night - why not give it a try.
We put the boys in beds at 2.
Haven't had any problems.
And my MIL, SIL and BIL said they were too young
I would keep her in a cot as long as possible...for my DS that was 18mths coz he worked out how to climb out of the cot at that age and we were worried he would get hurt. DD still hasn't figured out how to climb so she will be staying in her cot a while longer.
The main issue I had when DS went into a bed was that he would get up before me and go play in the lounge room & kitchen and make a huge mess. We don't close bedroom doors, but DS could open them at 18mths anyway, he had also worked out how to push over the safety gate and open our other safety gate.

I have had my son in a bed from a young age, probably around 14months or so, cant fully remember now....
I dont think its too young at all.....personal choice IMO

We put Lucy in a bed at 20mths....we needed the cot for her new sister. No problems whatsoever, couldn't believe how easy it was really. She seemed so little! I bought a really nice princess bed rail/barrier thing and put heaps of her toys at the top of the bed. She's only fallen out once which was my fault as I'd put a mosiquto net up to make her bed look really pretty, she got twisted up in it while she was sleeping and fell out!! To save wandering I put a child proof gate up each night. I hope to get rid of it soon.
Best of luck :D
personal choice really!
DS went into a single bed with a side rail thingy at 16 months, he loved it, slept better in that than the cot.
We made it fun by doona covers etc and i just put a little chair at the end which he still uses at 2 and a bit to get in and out.
thanku for all you'r replies. i think i'll be purchasing a bed as she can now climb up and down of my bed so i think she"ll be fine in her own bed thanku
My DS has been in a 'big bed' for 2 days now, hes 19months old. and although he didnt climb out of his cot he showed us many signs he was ready to move to a big bed. we have had no problems so far :fingerscrossed:

nah! she not too young, i had my girls in beds around 16months and it worked out fine, i mean they did fall out a few times at first but they soon learnt not to fall out. anyhow hope the change goes well!
my dd has been in a big bed (single) since 16 months she is now 18 and she is great, hasn't gotten out once just lays down and goes to sleep, i have the bed against the wall and a rail each side.
