Congrats to Bigglet on her blue bundle!!
I can't believe that its June already and this time in 4 mths I will be holding my new baby!! I thought I was having a boy, but am happy to find out its a girl (so much for instincts!!)
I have had a busy morning, cooking, cleaning, doing washing, baking a cake etc, we've got some friends due to come over for lunch........I'm now resting while we await their arrival.
Hope everyone else is having a great weekend and belly rubs to all!!
where oh where is everyone lol
hope ya all having a good weekend, its a public holiday here tomorrow (queens birthday weekend) so mum and I have decided to have a big spring clean, we've done the lounge today, and starting on the kitchen now, so hopefully by tomorrow we'll have 2 spotless rooms, which will be great, I can't stand clutter, so there is a wee bit getting chucked out lol

Hey guys
I am here now - though I feel kinda crappy. Think I am coming down with a cold :(
Yesterday was hectic. The family BBQ went OK - though family drive me insane! However nice it was for them to be there - I was sure glad when they went home!
Then we had a heap of friends round to celebrate Stu's birthday (which is today). That was really good - I went to bed at about 3am. So I went down for a nap after I let Stu have a sleep in.
OK pics!
Here is a gift my Aunty got for the new baby - so cute! (http://server7.pictiger.com/img/224080/picture-hosting/image-004--.jpg)
Here's a pic of the cake I made. See? Told you it was dodgy! (http://server7.pictiger.com/img/224083/picture-hosting/02062007033.jpg)
Here's a pic of a painting my friend did for the new baby's room! (http://server7.pictiger.com/img/224085/picture-hosting/image-007--.jpg)
Here's my birthday boy that evening in a new pair of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle PJ's that he got as a present. (http://server7.pictiger.com/img/224081/picture-hosting/image-002--.jpg)

Jude that cake is great! I am sure that Brion LOVED it! I am terrible at decorating cakes, I always make my hubby do them. He is actually pretty good. Here is some pics of some cakes he has done :
Wolverine Cake - http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q15/Tam79_photos/Scan020.jpg
Spiderman Cake - http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q15/Tam79_photos/BecEthan004.jpg
Skull Cake - http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q15/Tam79_photos/TamaraandSeth002.jpg
I dont know what he would be like at doing a girls cake. Lucky we are having another boy!

Heheh I thought it was a bit sh!t - but it tasted good! And thankfully I made JUST the right amount - so no leftovers to go to waste!
I did do it all by hand - but I lost a fair amount of sanity in the process ROFL
I love the pics hubby has done for your DS Tammy! He is great!
Jude that cake looks yummy scrummy, you did a really good job, i'm doing J's cake next week so i'll show you mine lol
and I love Brions pj's they are so funky
looks like bubs just spoilt too with shoes and a painting lol
Tammy your man is tallented,

Hi girls,
Jude- Great job on the cake! Brion's cake would have been just as great to him if all it had was just a plain cake.
and the Pjs were very cool! Just what every little boy wants!
I hope you feel better soon!
Tammy- love the cakes!
I admit to being rather lazy with the cake last year and probably will be again this year although last year we got these tool shaped candles cos DS LOVES bob the builder and we put the saw and hammer on the cake and hekept wanting to play with them (mean mummy put them on fire and then put them away)
His first birthday though DH made a choc fudge cake int he shape of a bears head. he did a great job too I jsut don't have any pics as they somehow disapppeared.
I am also getting something, woke with a sore throat yesterday and is much worse this morning. And of course being pregnant there isn't a whole lot I can do but the last time I was sick I got Bronchitis so I definately don't want that right now. I especially don't want to be sick due to us having our trip to SE QLD planned for next weekend so will be drinking lots of water, garlic in cooking etc trying to get rid of the bug!! Am also hoping the kids don't get sick and have been putting them to bed with baby balsam on the last couple of nights.

Bails is in bed thank god so I just popped on here to say hi and i think I might go back to bed. Having my U/S next week but we still don't want to know what we are having so it will be a surprise for us in 5 months time.

Oh sigh!
I just got back from my scan and we coludnt find out the sex because the little bugger had iys legs crossed. The sonographer said it was in a very awkward position though, and had trouble seeing a couple of things, so the good news is i get to go back next week so he can have another look:smiliedance: Hopefully bubba will behave. He/she is 25 cms long and the heart rate was 119 bpm. All looks well,i just really want to know the sex:p

Hello all!
Quick catch up....
KristyK - What a bummer! That must have been so frustrating!! At least you know bubs is perfect and get to go back a second time!! Lets hope he/she is cooperating this time!!!
Kyahli - You poor thing! How annoying being swapped around all the time! At least everything is good with bubs!!!
Zen - Thanks for the tip on Magnesium. Must give it ago as I had another one on Sat night!! Exact same spot but other leg!
Sorry to hear about all those people coming down with some sort of cold/flu thing! Please don't pass it along - I so couldn't handle it right now!! But I do hope you are all feeling much better soon!!
Anyway got to run - Just having a quick break from reports!!! What a way to spend the long weekend!!
Take care all

Kyahli - I have had 3 dates too.
28th oct
1st Nov
3rd Nov
Having another scan on tues so we will see what this one says.
evening everyone
Kyahli I would probably stick to your first date, scans after 12wks can be out a week either way and the further on you are the more so, cause every baby is born a different weight etc and all grow at different weights,
i've been given 4 dates now I think, i'm just sticking to my first scan which says the 17th,
KristyK glad ya scan went well, and bubs is doing well, great you get another chance to see bubs next week, hopefully he/she will keep his/her legs open wide long enough for a quick peek

Just came back from my Ob appt, and it all went well. Baby's heartbeat is very strong, lots of movement and the growth is great for dates, so I'm very happy!! He also confirmed, we are having a girl, no doubts now!!
Hope all of those mummies to be that aren't feeling well and get cold/flu symptoms, rest up and get well soon!!
Kristy - sounds like a cheeky bubba, the good part is that you get to have another scan and see your baby, good luck finding out the gender!!
Sounds like most of us have had our dates moved around, there is definately no exact science to it. My OB did a letter for me for work, and it said my EDD was 12th Oct (its been 6th, 7th, 14th, 10th).
Hope everyone has a great day, sorry for no more personals, but I'm hungry, off to get lunch!!

You got the same date as me Giz, Are you having bub at the GC hospital?
sam's mum
05-06-2007, 01:36 PM
17th for me too... I won't be at the GC hospital unless we get really really lost though.
Updates...
I have been sick with gastro - yuck. Next time the doctor tells me to come back if I still feel sick I will listen. I held out two more days and had to go up to the hospital and get couple of litres of fluid through an iv. I have improved really quickly since then though. should have gone back sooner and got bagged sonner and got better sooner. (can anyone else hear my sister yelling, it sounds like I TOLD YOU SO  )
We have found a real estate agent to sell our house, now comes the work to get it ready for sale, we have set a two week deadline to get it all done. I told DH I wanted to have a list of what my jobs were so that I knew what to do. My list says supervise... Oh well, I offered.
Whoever said it is getting closer - it struck me on the weekend. I have been thinking it is forever away BUT, three weeks until we have a two week holiday, it will be July when I get back to work. Finish work late August, early September - AAGGHH, it is getting closer.
Hope everyone's colds and such get better. I hate colds so much.

17th for me too! Wow theres lots of us due on 17th! I thought by now dates would stop getting moved, I am glad my dates have stayed the same. They said they might change right at the beginning but they never did so phew! It would be annoying to not know exactly when ya due even though I doubt any of us will have the baby on our exact due date!
The closest I have ever known of a woman having her baby on her due date was my BF who went into labour on her due date and had her son at about 4am the next day.
You got the same date as me Giz, Are you having bub at the GC hospital?
Nah i'm not going to GC hosp, i'm not too fond of that hospital, so i'm having bubs in NZ
sam's mum sorry to hear that you havn't been well, hope you come right soon, and yay for finding someone to sell your house, hope it sells quickly
Tammy I had DS2 on my due date going by LMP which I always knew was right, as you kinda have a inkling when ya concieved, i'm predicting that this one will come somewhere between the 10th of Oct and the 17th Oct, but only time will tell, ya never know I might go over due (which will be typical cause DH needs to be here for the birth so will probably come late lol)

Samsmum - I hope that your feeling better now. YEY for selling the house we have just been through all of that and thank god we are in the new house and getting settled in enough time before the new bubs arrives.
I am feeling better today, I just keep having my lemon hot water. I bet Bailey will come down with it soon.
Am I the only one that is left to have a scan??? Mine isn't until the 12th but we are not finding out anyway. I asked for a 3D and she said she could do it but we will see, I have never had a 3D and I asked last time and she said that she didn't have enough time. We will see if my dates get changed again.

Hi there everyone
Jude, antlmummy and Mel - hope you are all taking really good care of yourselves :hugs: - make sure you take notice of any chesty coughing that doesnt start to get better after a day or two. I just spent the last week of my uni semester coughing my guts up, thinking 'Oh its just a cold, i'll be right' - i ended up getting sent to the dr. on sunday who said i had really bad bronchitis, & he gave me some antibiotics which are safe during pg. I'm still coughing like i've got the plague or something, but am starting to feel a little bit better..... (I was also putting off going to the doc cos i didnt think there was anything they could do - but antibiotics will help bronchitis clear up in 3-5 days instead of 14....i find this out after i go to the doc!)
And what artistic talent on those cakes, Jude and Tammy's DH!
Tammy - hope you've been feeling better. i know what you mean about wanting to be organised - my house might be a bit of a mess(alright - a total mess! - having painting done ATM), but i have nearly all of bubs stuff organised already!
Samsmum - glad to hear your starting to feel better - its that time of the year for getting sick isnt it. Gastro is not nice - did Sam and hubby catch it too? (I can hear that 'i told you so' voice in my ear too! - except its my DF)
Bigglet - congrats on your little boy!
Kristy - sorry to hear you couldnt see what bubs was - but good to hear you get to see them again next week!
Jo - Hope you managed to get all your spring cleaning done! Cant wait to see pics of your DS's cake - love them - so cute! (Thanx for doing the new thread too:thumbsup: )
Erin - I'm doing a BA in Environmental Sociology. Wow - a masters in psych would really interesting (but nothings really ever as interesting as baby stuff hey  ). Have you got long to go? i was just working out that if i go part time for the next 2 semesters i will be finished in 2009 - but yeah - depends a lot on what bubs is like!
I'm lucky, my exams are early this semester, i'll be all finished by June 13 - how about you?
Cassie - Sounds like you've been eating well! Has hubby jetsetted off again? Hope you are all well.

Hi girls,
SO much to catch up on in only a couple of days!
Loved the pics of the cakes, Jude & Tammy('s DH) - some great talent there!!
Kristy - sounds like your little bub might not want to give away it's gender....:fingerscrossed: it will expose itself at your next scan!!
In terms of dates, if I took notice of the different dates that scans come up with I would have 5 different dates now, plus the date based on my LMP. They pushed me back a week really early on and that's probably more accurate anyway given I have NO clue when I O.... (made it fun to guess and practice for getting the baby - DH loved it!!) Besides, I figure the baby will just come when it's good and ready.....
Sorry to hear so many have been sick! Sending :hugs: that you will all soon feel better. Mel, it's especially hard to be sick when you're trying to finish up uni....I will be finished on the 26th which seems soooo far away especially considering all the work I have to do between now and then....you only have 8 days to go!! I've no idea when I'll be finished uni - as you said, depends on what baby is like! But I'm not quite half way yet, so it'll be a long haul....you're right about baby stuff being more interesting, too!
Speaking of.....DH & I trotted off to the Baby Expo over the weekend and we spent a small fortune as Baby Kingdom were there offering 15% off Boori furniture if you ordered from the expo. DH and I chose the Classic cot, Matilda Cradle, 2 drawer change table, and the drawer that slides under the cot for a bit of extra storage, all in Jarrah. They threw in a mattress for the cot so we are set for nursery furniture (just need a cradle mattress and alllllll the other stuff too!!). It will be 10-12 weeks until it is delivered so DH now has a deadline for painting the room - can't wait till it's done :D Anyway, it was our first big purchase and we were so excited about it!! Decorating would have to be one of things I am looking forward to most with a new baby :)
Hope everyone is feeling better soon, seems like so many are a bit unwell (everyone I run into is sick lately, and I feel like telling everyone to stay away now that I am finally functioning like a normal human being after so much m/s!!)

Hey guys - not much going on here - I didn't get a cold, just my sinuses playing up (I would say Thankfully - but sinusitus still sucks big balls)
Went shopping with a friend today - she bought Brion the cutest racingstyle jacket!!
Then went for a nap when Brion went down, and am now in the process of cooking dinner (Thai green curry chicken, and coconut/garlic rice) Mmmm yummo!!
With dates - I think I must be the ONLY one in here who was exact and I mean EXACT for dates each time! Not even a days difference! Really weird huh. Knowing karma I am now going to have a jumbo baby with a massive head to punish me for being so d@mn date perfect ROFL
Hope everyone who is or has been sick is getting better.
Good luck in selling your house Sarah!
Hello to anyone I haven't mentioned vaguely or said Hi to ROFL. Personals are not my strong point - memory is too dodgy, and motivation to cut/paste is minimal.
got a memory like a seive ay Jude lol, actually so have I, I cheat and read back when i'm typing my replies lol
oooh i'm so excited, any minute now DH is going to jump on the comp and we're going to video chat, but with a difference, we're going to go through baby clothes, I know its not the same thing as if I was there, but this is the next best thing, then he can come over with all the stuff I need that I already have IYKWIM :smiliedance:

ok.... this is the 3rd or 4th time i've tried to post this lets see how it goes.. stupid computer..
Dont seem to get on here as much as I'd like anymore... But you get that!! I only have like 9 official days left of work... i may do 12.. if i feel like being nice to them and work on Fridays!! I am on holidays from Wednesday this week and go back to work next wednesday... weird i know taking time off before I finish but have FIL's surprise 60th this weekend on the Central Coast of NSW.. Spending a few days in Sydney first .. luckily for us my boss has an apartment right on the harbour which is empty 80% of the year... He only uses it if hes working in the sydney office.. and any staff that wants to stay there are welcome as long as its free. anyway way of track..
I'm very excited to be going to sydney and the coast for a few days..
I've been doing really well... bubs is moving more now which is keeping me happy.. not happy about lack of sleep or little niggles here and there but i'm all good..
Bought some cot sheets at B&L the other day half price!! Other than the cot its the first thing we've bought for bubs.. Havent bought any clothes yet as still have to go thru DD's and see what I can use.. (she was born in summer in QLD.. didnt wear much for first few months!)
Oh ZENIFA.. i know you from another place too... but we wont talk about that **** pink place...
Waiting for October.....:smiliedance:

Newmum2006 Are you finishing up work now?
I am due 9th Oct and finishing up on September 12th - about 3 weeks before my due date. Am I leaving it too late?
I am a sales rep and will be driving around Sydney most days, for about 5-6 hours a day with about 3 hours actually in the car...
Seeing this is my first baby I'm not sure about when to finish up... any suggestions from you girls? I'd really appreciate it.
Or should I start a new thread rather than doing this here...?
Dellibelli
Well i've just had my M/W come and go, bubs seams to be doing well :smiliedance: , and i'm alright, my fundal height is great (which is a relief) :smiliedance: and bubs heart beat was good, (although lower than normal) was 120bpm, hehe this one may be a boy after all
had a chat with M/W about wether i'll go over due or not, and he said that he'll be surprised if I get to due date lol, and he said that he predicts around 32 or 34wks, but well see, i'm estimating that this one will arrive early Oct, or late Sept (if mum has her way lol its her birthday then) spose only time will tell
oh and also, if my waters break now, bubs still has a good chance (not that they will and touch wood that they won't) so that is great concidering the past
anyways thats enough from me, i'm going to go and have a snooze soon, need some sleep lol cause DS was so nice today and decided that it would be a good idea to wake up at 6am
Dellibelli 3 weeks before sounds good, still gives you some you time before bubs arrives as long as he/she doesn't come early lol, about 3/4 wks before is about average when people stop working, and if you need to finnish earlier then so be it

ooohhhh yeah the whole work thing......
I have only just told work - kept wondering how long I could put it off and they were surprised (I guess I hid it well) but now I'm wondering when to finish.
With Emily I finished work on the Friday and went into labor on the weekend (granted I was busy with weddings and parties that weekend so probably self induced :D ) but with this one when should one finish?
I know most of you are already talking about finishing soon or about 3-4 weeks before due date.....
I'm due on the Thurs 25th Oct so maybe I might finish on Friday 19th Oct - or should I try and finish up on the Wed 24th Oct instead?
I guess if bubs decides to come in early I could call in sick........ I'll definately be able to get a doc certificate I'm sure :D

I love how we have our own section of the forums... its great that topics are relevant to all of us and it helps to know what others are going through/thinking etc about them!
I am today putting my leave forms in.
Im taking 5 weeks off beforehand. I have 4 weeks of annual leave Im taking then starting Maternity leave (with 14 weeks pay - yay!) for 12 months. I will decide after that what I want to do.... we can take another 12 months off without pay or come back to work either full or part time so there will be a big decision to make during my maternity leave.
So Im due on Oct 10th... my last day at work is September 7th so AL for 4 weeks then starting M/L on the 8th October!
And I cant wait! :smiliedance:
Work is poo-ey at the moment!
I am leaving myself about 6 AL days to take off in the next 3 months and also have flexi and sickie days so I should be right....
I want to give them plenty of notice as it may be difficult to find someone to fit my job - and I dont want to have to cram everything into the last week before I go so I want them to get someone in with plenty of time to train them!!

I’d love to finish up work now! Well I am a dental nurse and all the twisting and sitting 9 and half hours a day is getting to my back.
Id like to do reception or something but the practice is too small for two receptionists. Its not like anyone else will employ me now……
DH says if we sell the house soon I can leave work a bit earlier, But its not selling soon enough! :banghead:
DH wants to move up north to a large acreage farm with horses and cows, get back to basics. I think id love that, become a country girl ha ha.
Been thinking if we do that I mite try for a homebirth, my pregnancy seems to be going very well what do you guys think?
Bubbles is kicking very hard now you can see my tummy moving! DH’s Nan got married on the weekend and had a young guy playing live music Bubbles loved it was kicking away to the song “Amazing” mum in law felt it for the first time was good to see the look on her face :smiliedance:

Hi Girls
Dellibelli – I worked until 3 days before my DS was born and it was a huge mistake. I was so exhausted when he came along and of course there is no time for rest once the baby is born! I had thought that I would finish up 2 weeks before he was due so that I would have some time to rest and prepare but I ended up having him 11 days early so that went out the window! This time I am finishing up at end of Aug. That way I have a month and a half to rest and prepare so if he is born early I would still have had enough time for rest. I can not wait to finish work, I am so tired all the time and the bigger I get the more tired I get! And of course there is the getting up a trillion times a night to pee which is really taking its toll.
Jo – I probably sound dumb here but what is Fundal height? Yay for getting to 21 weeks safely! (HAPPY 21 WKS TO YOU AND ME AND EVERYONE ELSE DUE ON 17TH!).
Nicole – Yeah I also gotta train somebody to take over my position. I have left it up to my boss to hire somebody but he is leaving it a bit late. After today (coz I only work 3 days a week) I only have 38 more work days left. That’s not much time to train somebody to do a job that has taken me 12 years to perfect!
Samarah – I believe home births are a lot less stressful but I personally would prefer to go to hospital! Its funny you mentioned being able to see your bub kick coz I saw that for the first time last night. I was laying there watching tellie and felt him kicking so glanced down and my belly was jumping around with his kicks! It was freaky but funny. Unfortunately every time I told DH to look he missed it! So he is yet to see my belly moving with kicks!
Well I have been getting plenty more BH and it is starting to worry me. I know its normal to get them but I seem to get them a lot more frequently last couple of days and I am petrified of having my bub prematurely. I have also been getting slight cramps on one side a lot but they aint really that noticeable, I think I am noticing it more coz I am so paranoid! Apart from that I have been good. I haven’t vomited in the morn in almost a week now so I am so happy about that! I am soooo tired though. I am getting up so often to pee at night and I cant seem to get comfie in bed either. Women keep saying to me “Don’t wish your pregnancy away” but I just want to get this done and meet my little man! Ugh I am so impatient!
Jo – I probably sound dumb here but what is Fundal height? Yay for getting to 21 weeks safely! (HAPPY 21 WKS TO YOU AND ME AND EVERYONE ELSE DUE ON 17TH!).
yay happy 21 weeks lol, umm the fundus is the top of your uterus, its the bit the always poke around to feel at each visit, mine is above my belly button now :smiliedance: which shows that bubs is growing alright and that fluid level is fine for dates
Apart from that I have been good. definatly don't wish ya pregnancy away lol , i've been getting alot of BH lately, the more mobile and busy I am the more I have, and i've been getting just slight pains as well, must be something that happens the more pregnancies you have lol, I tell ya what with each of my pregnancies I feel something new each time lol, so don't worry too much
will be interesting to see which one of us pops first, cause we could both go early lol
oh and has anyone been getting leg cramps in bed lately, I have and its driving me insane, hurts like no tomorrow

Cassie – Thanks for that. I know I shouldn’t stress so much I am just so paranoid! I wish I could remember more about my pregnancy with DS. Sometimes I feel like I am doing this for the first time!
Jo – Oh ok. I wander where my fundus is… I am positive I will go early, my mum had me and my bro exactly 3 weeks early and 2 of her sisters had their bub’s exactly 3 weeks early too! I had DS 11 days early so even though I know each pregnancy is different I am expecting to give birth first week of Oct. I just hope its after the 3rd coz my Ob is away until then! Ya know I have been expecting to get leg cramps for awhile now but I haven’t had any (not that I am complaining!) I had them REALLY bad with DS from about 19 weeks (I think.. ) but so far I haven’t had even one with this pregnancy (you watch, now that I have said that I will get one tonight!).

Really? Wow I never heard of that. Hmmm I feel cheated in my last pregnancy then! When I was UTD with DS I practically lived on Banana's, its all I ever felt like eating. And I got HEAPS of leg cramps. During this pregnancy although I still eat banana's I dont eat them nearly as much as I did last time and I havent had any leg cramps. I must be an exception to the rule! Maybe I will try eating lots of banana's again and see if I get leg cramps! :D
I have to admit thought that I do eat more salt these days than I did when I was pregnant with DS.
lol Tammy, i'll be waiting for a post tomorrow saying that you had a awfull sleep cause of cramps lol
whens ya next checkup appt? ask where ya fundus is
and yip banana's have good potasium(sp) and salt for magnesium, they both help alot of things, they recon ya muscles cramp when ya not getting enough in ya diet

Yeah I bet I will start getting let cramps soon! I just got over my m/s it would just be my luck to get leg cramps now!
My next Ob appointment is 22nd, I will ask him then now that I know what it is called.
Ooooh interesting. Good thing I like salt and banana's.... not together though..
ewwww I can just imagine what that tastes like lol, its more the salt that works for cramps, a old wives tale is that when you've got a cramp to put a bit of salt under your tongue

Newmum2006 Are you finishing up work now?
Dellibelli
Finishing up early cause i'm not planning on returning.. I have officially resigned... but staying until end of financial year... i've been with the company for 6 years and worked in 3 or their offices... (they accomodated my interstate moves!!)and i'm pretty much over working...I travel over 2hrs a days home and back from work... and also have a crazy 16 1/2 mth old who is full on... so im very tired these days and this way i get to spend some quality time with dd before this bubs arrives and can get some things organised... Its probably quite early for most ppl to finish up now but i'm in the situation i think i need to and want to and we've just sold our 2nd car to pay off some debt and well we'll have to learn to survive on the one salary... we'll get there..
With DD she was due on the 11th January so i finished up on 23 December... no point going back after xmas... i think that was good but i probably should have taken another week.. oh she arrived on the 16th January....
ANYWAY...
I'm sitting here in my bosses apartment and well lets just say it over looks the harbour... i'll try and take a photo and post it tomorrow or this arvo.. we'll see....
ALSO
about the cramps.. with dd my ob suggested calcium tablets.. not sure if they worked or not cant remember... but its worth a try..
Have a good one!
and caffeen(sp) isn't good for iron intake as well, vit C on the other hand is great for absorbtion

Goodbye everyone.
Just wanted to wish you all wonderful and safe pregnancies and bubbys.
My 20 week scan did not go very well. My lil man was very sick and we had to induce labour early. Something they call potters syndrome. He was taken by an angel on May 31 at 3.13am.
Can't write anymore. :crying:
Goodbye.

I haven't read through all the posts coz i really can't be bothered. But i did read this page.
Bree I am so so sorry to hear of your loss. That was my biggest fear at my 20 week scan - that something would have gone wrong. I hope everything works out better for you in the future.

Welcome and CONGRATS Nicole. Do you know if you are having a boy or a girl?

07-06-2007, 07:32 AM
NicoleE – I have about 16 days of annual leave and then start my 12mths ML at the end of October – that way I have a bit more time to spend with the baby when he turns one (I can’t believe I’m saying this already!) I will have a crossover of 4 weeks with the new girl I am training to do my ML contract, so I guess I won’t be doing all that much driving or lifting. Guess I still have about 6 days of sick leave I can take if it all gets too much…
Samarah – The farm sounds great – how nice that would be to raise a little one out there – compared to busy, noisy Sydney – lol ! I don’t know about a home birth. Guess I’d just feel more relaxed in the knowledge that everything is there ready if (god forbid) anything went wrong. That’s just me though.
Pebbles – I’d love to take 6 weeks, but just can’t afford it – you are so lucky!
Newmum2006 – would love to see some photos – hope the weather is a bit nicer for you to take a few good shots – although we do need the rain…
Well I haven’t had any leg cramps or BH or even seen my bump move. Have started feeling his kicks getting stronger and last night for about 15mins he had the hiccups. I though he was kicking but my whole tummy sort of expanded out constantly every 10 or so seconds. Then I realised and had a little moment with him around midnight as DH was snoring and out like a light.
I certainly am not wishing this pregnancy away – I am just loving every minute of it. I have been luck with no MS but would understand if I did, I would want it over as soon as possible too!
Nicole - welcome! Boy or Girl...?
Bree27 – I am so very sorry for you and your family – I wish you lots of love at this time. Big Big hugs to you…xx :hugs:

remember I posted I had gastro... I got a phone call at work today from the doctor.
He said - I need to talk to you about your blood test results.
I said - Ok
He said - no, in person
I said - now you are scaring me
he said - don't be scared. can you come now?
I said - sure
and then had a little panic attack. I mean who wouldn't.
At the appointment he tells me I have tested positive for mycoplasma (some lung thing), whooping cough (seriously, I am an adult) and legionnaires (apparently this is probably a false positive that has happened because of the other two).
I have to take antibiotics for a while and get another lot of blood tests done in three weeks. In the meantime it sure explains why I cough until I throw up.
oh and everyone at work wants breathing masks, but I told them it is too late for that. :D (now if only there was an evil grin)

Welcome to the new member of the thread NicoleV! !
Newmum2006 - sorry, must be preggy brain, but from where do you know me? Send me a PM if you can't post details here.
RE: leg cramps, i've heard all the old wives tales about bananas and salt etc, which I tried last pregnancy with no real effect. The only thing I've found effective is Blackmores Biomagnesium vitamins, taking one in the evenings, along with my Elevit and I can avoid the nasty leg cramps at night.
Its been busy time, with me working the last couple of days, its taken me ages to catch up on this thread!!
Sorry I haven't had time to do more personals.

NicoleV - Welcome! I hope you enjoy the forum as much as I do!
Not much to report here. Haven't had the best week, trying to get uni work done and just feeling stressed about it all, on top of that my m/s has gotten worse again and I am feeling blergh with :barf: back to visit every morning and sometimes through the day too.....wouldn't be surprised if it's stress bringing it on..... oh well it can't last longer than about 17 weeks now......
On a brighter note, Pea's kicks are getting stronger and DH still gets so excited every time he feels it and every time he does he gets this look of amazement on his face. Very sweet.

Hey guys
Jane - Legionnaire's disease?? ROFL I thought they wiped that out?? So sorry to hear you are crook though! Hope you feel better really soon!!
Hope you gals doing Uni are not getting to frazzled! I don't think I could handle Uni childless - let alone with kids or pregnant!! You are stronger women then me!
My back and tummy muscles are really sore!!My intercostals front and back are achy too! Methinks this chunka bubba is having a massive growth spurt! I feel way bigger then last fortnight - but I am not going to cave - I will wait and take my 24 week shot to compare in 2 weeks time. Will probably find that I am not that much bigger though ROFL. But you can see that my belly has gotten wider, not further out IYKWIM.
Can't believe how close we are getting to our EDD's!! Seems just a little while ago we were gagging to go to our 12 week scans!!
I bought my first proper baby item today!! Well it is kinda for Brion too - he borke the highchair - so we got a new one. It converts to a table booster for toddlers too! Only $99 - down from $150!! Got it from Kmart. PIC (http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=112001&e=detail&site=au&pid=35436&selcat=bgh)
cool highchair Jude, they rock, and as you say you'll get lots of use out of it cause its a great booster
oh and as for Legionnaire's disease, there was a outbreak of it last year, I can't remember if it was in NZ or OZ though, cause I catch up on the news for both countries lol, might have been NZ though rather than OZ
anyways guys, I went on a mission today, trying to find a safe and secure sleeper, I thought that that would be ideal to use while i'm here in NZ for bubs to sleep in and it folds up small so I can easily bring it back and use it in Oz till I get the cot organised, but I couldn't find one anythere, kmart had them on special but didn't have any in, so I put a raincheck on it, hopefully they will get some in soon, but doesn't look promicing, might have to get one brought over from Oz cause I saw them everywhere there lol, its typical, if I can't find one then i'll have to borrow a bassinette or buy one and just bring it over, thoes childcare ones fold up pretty flat so could bring one of them back with me, just have to watch my weight, might just end up having to buy more weight for when I fly back lol
Grizabella
09-06-2007, 06:50 PM
Worst comes to worst Jo - if you cant get the Safe N secure sleeper - I can pick one up from Toys R Us here and send it to you :)
OH thanks Jude
I wanna see what its like first, do ya thik it would be suitable for a newborn to sleep in for the first few weeks?????
Grizabella
09-06-2007, 07:00 PM
Yep - pretty sure they are from birth. It's kinda like cosleeping with a newborn except the risk of rolling onto them is a lot lower. I shouldn't see why there would be any probs with it from birth.
hmmm something to think about then
how much are they over there? any cheaper than $50????
Grizabella
09-06-2007, 07:07 PM
I have no ideawill check it out for you - they are at Toys R Us, Big W, Target and Kmart I think. See which one has the cheapest.
thanks chicky
love ya long time ;)
I think this will be best to use, cause its small, folds up small, and I can easily take this back home
Grizabella
09-06-2007, 07:12 PM
Yep for sure. I would use it but I am an incredibly deep sleeper and I ROLL. So wouldn't be any good for me cos I still wouldn't notice if I was squashing him ROFL
Also Stu isn't a small man - so we need the space in our bed LOL
lol, I was thinking of useing it in my bed here
and then putting it in the cot when i get back, cause i like my bed space lol, thought it would be good to take with me when out and about, so bubs can sleep at other people's places
I was thinking of getting a carry cot but I don't know, what do you think will be better out of the two?

Hey everyone,
sorry that i have ben hiding.... have been dealing with alot of things right at the moment!!!
#1- broke up with partner!Great stuff, 20 weeks preg and also single!!! :gloomy: now i am packing and searching frantically for a house/unit to move in to( might just have to put my things in storage and just hire a caravan!!). As some of you know, we have had alot of problems and hiccups anyhow, he didnt want a baby at all!!!!
Kaelum is cool about everything, dont really know if he understands, but moving around alot(over 12 times in 2 years) he would know whats going on... also would have to move his school AGAIN which i didnt really want to do...
when i found out i was pregnant, i had to give up my job.... so sitting on not much $$$ isnt going to help much!!!
oh and #2 went for ultrasound last monday, found that they are worried about low amniotic fliud, so have to have another one this week to check all that and check lungs, bladder and kidneys just to make sure all is ok....
anyone else had low fluid levels???
sorry about my vent...:ecomcity:
hope you are all well:hugs:
oh Kyahli :hugs: chicky, how awfull to have to deal with breaking up with you DP, I hope it works out for you
and as for low amniotic fluid, i've had lots of experiance with that, hopefully your scan this week reveals nothing serious, there are a few things that can cause the low fluid,
Bree went for her scan the other week and found the same problem, low fluid
Hey everyone  , yip its been quiet in here lately, everyone must be busy
I havn't been up to much, actually i've been up to nothing, DH is arriving tomorrow, so that is cool, and then its DS's birthday on wed, my little boy is turning 3, pretty soon he'll be at school
I dont' have much planned for the week, just mucking around and doing family stuff, have a little family party for DS on sat, and i'll be making his cake for it on the friday night, so that will be fun lol

Good morning all - boy its hard to get out of bed in Adelaide these days (particularly at 5:45am!)... its getting so cold!
Better get used to much earlier mornings than that though I guess!
Kyahli sorry to hear about the break up. :hugs: I guess look at it as if its for the best... better a child grow up with a single parent than in a home with an unhappy relationship. (and you wont be single for ever!)
You must be excited today Giz with DH arriving!! :yelclap: and your little boys birthday tomorrow!
Not much to report with me really.... everything is well Cashie is kicking me all the time and DH has felt a few times now (he gets a bit bored waiting and waiting all the time so doesnt try very much! She is typical and will kick and kick then nothing once he comes along!). I felt her do a big move the other night... she was kicking way down low then I felt the move and then she started kicking me to one side.
She has a new web site, just a simple one slapped together to make viewing the photos eaiser than my last one http://www.cashew-nut.piczo.com/?cr=6&rfm=y
Hope all are well!

Hi everyone
No personals, SORRY!!! Just an update for you all :D .
Had my 20 week ultrasound last wednesday (I know, I'm slack at posting!) and all is great with the bubba. We found out the sex, but have decided to keep it a secret. I've been fibbing a tiny bit IRL and saying bubba's feet were tucked up under the bottom, making it impossible to tell, just so people won't hound me to find out! I'd tell you all, but a girlfriend is a new member, and I don't want her to know ;) . But we're extremely happy with what we're getting, be it blue or pink!
I hope everyone is well (hugs to you Nyki!).

Sarah glad everything went well with the scan - and have fun keeping that secret to yourself! :)
I sense more kids cake photos on their way soon, Jo.....have fun making it!!
Well seems we have got all the big stuff sorted for Pea now as we went off to Baby Kingdom and laybyed all the other stuff we need besides nursery furniture (which we did last weekend). Now we just have to pay it all off!! Lots of people have started talking to me about the birth and I am realising that I will have to think about it eventually....time flies past and soon enough our bubs will be here....I am waiting till I finish uni (2 weeks today!!!) to give it too much serious thought though...too much else to think about for now!! Speaking of, must be off to do some more work

Hi everyone!! Gosh it has been pretty quiet here lately.
Well we've had a long weekend here in Qld, so DH is back at work today.
**warning, vent approaching **
DH and I having a little disagreement at present.....he wants me to get a cot for this new baby and convert our DD's cot into a toddler bed, to save space, so all we need to buy is a tallboy/chest of drawers to but the bubba's clothes and stuff in. However I think we should just get DD a proper single bed (with a guard rail) and use the current cot we have for the newborn. Once the new bubba is sleeping through she will be sharing a room with DD, so DH thinks having 2 cots instead of 1 bed and 1 cot will save room/space. Also I think he is wanting to put off any big expenditure until the kids outgrow the cot/toddler bed stage, as we'll most likely be getting them bunk beds, as we won't be able to move into a bigger house for some time!! I am getting so frustrated, the cot isn't that big and fear that DD will outgrow it by the time the new baby comes along, whether its a cot or a toddler bed, the length doesn't change, its just the sides are taken off (its against a wall) :banghead: How do I convince him that I am right???
Okay aside from that all is well, we did do a little browsing for kids furniture, went to a local cheese festival (and I was good and steered clear of listeria risk cheeses), and then yesterday we went down to the beach, caught up with the inlaws and had nice fish and chip lunch feeding seagulls and pelicans by the broadwater. Took DD to the playground, and I did lots of walking. Have been feeling the baby move lots and all is good, apart from tiredness. DH is complaining that my breathing is getting quite loud and heavy this pregnancy :o Took DD for her swimming lesson this morning and did the food shop.
Now for some personals (sorry in advance if I miss anybody, you know how preggy brain is)
Milliner - glad to hear your scan went well, how brave of you to not find out, I just couldn't resist, myself!!
Erin - good luck with uni, hope the next couple of weeks fly by for you!!
Kyahli - :hugs: sorry to hear that you have been having such a rough time lately. Its hard when any relationship ends, but you are more vulnerable with a child and pregnant, so make sure you have lots of support around you at this time. Good luck finding accommodation and hope that your financial situation improves. Best wishes with your baby too, take care, get lots of rest and try not to worry, we're all thinking of you!!
SArah - glad your scan went well, so you're another who knows but is keeping the sex a secret, I understand. IRL we've only told our family and a select few friends, but work and most people think the 'legs were crossed' so we don't know (naughty I know, but it makes it easier!!).
Nicole - its not as cold in Brissie as in Adelaide, but I'm finding it hard to leave my warm cosy bed in the mornings too........and I'm working 3 days/week so I have to, sadly.
Mrs G - good luck with the cake making. I've got the WW b'day cake book and DD has chosen a couple of cakes for me to make her, so I get to chose out of a bunny, a cat or a pig!! I wont' be making mine for her til August though, may need to do a practice run first.
Gizmo - hope you enjoy your reunion with DH today and your little boy's 3rd b'day tomorrow!! What a big week for you, enjoy!! We'll know why we don't see you around here much this week.
Okay, enough of my mammoth post for now. Oh!! and I'm 23 weeks tomorrow!! Woohoo!!:smiliedance:
Okay now I better post this before I lose it!!

have you considered buying the bunks now? you dont want to buy a normal bed now if you will definately want bunks in a few years anyway... beds last for ever. obviously one wont get used for a while but the top could be used as extra storage (take the ladder away so your eldest cant climb up there. When bubs is ready the eldest can move to the top bunk and bubs (toddler then) can move to the bottom one..

NicoleE - DP is the same he has felt her move twice now but is never patient enough to wait around for more movement and the very same as you while he is there she is very still clever thing hee hee
Sarah - All our family know the sex of the baby except for my work collegues and i have often almost spoke about it and at the last minute picked myself up on it. Well done for keeping it a secret its hard..
Zenifa - My opinion (not that it matters) but i agree with you. Why buy another cot when you can just get another bed and then new DD can have existing cot. Much easier and cost wise smarted otherwise you will need to buy a cot and before you know it a single bed. Maybe show DP some prices and compare the 2 scenarios on paper so he can clearly see what is more affordable and wiser. Just an idea.
Well all is ok with me, Bubs is moving lots and touch wood i havent been :barf: now for almost a week i would hope now i would be over it but everytime i say that :barf: happens again.
Apart from that had a lovely LONG weekend got lots of baby stuff done and realised i only have 58 work days left of work im finishing up the 31 Ausgust. and who is counting LOL.
Hope you all have a good day. and will try my best to pop in more often... xxx

Hi All
Im new to the forum and have just discoverd the Due in October section.
This is our first bub and is due between 15th and 20th Oct, dates keep changing at each scan, and i see this is the case with a lot of you.
NicoleE- my bubs has been kicking like crazy lately too. I saw my Ob today who did a scan and bubs is breech so this could be the reason.
I was freaked out the first time he kicked but now that im used to it its pretty cool!
Hope to pop in and chat with you ladies lots in the future.

Welcome moo moo, do you know pink or blue or is it a secret. Congrats on the bub too.
I dont know if im breech or whatever will have to find out not having scan next though till 37 weeks unless of course there is a need to.... i wonder how i can find out?

Thanks for your input ladies. We were given a 2nd cot by our neighbours, but lent it to a friend and Dh is hoping to get it back, so we dont' have to buy one (which we wouldn't). We also have friends moving back to Melbourne, so we may also get some baby furniture and stuff off them. I'm still trying to get DH to consider a single bed (bottom of bunks) or a set of bunks........I agree I don't want any extra furniture that I need to try to sell/give away later. I already have a pram plus a stroller, hence DH's reluctance to get a tandem pram (I am looking at a phil and ted's), but DH says we'll just use a sling and DD in a stroller. Okay I agree I want to save $$ and don't want 3 prams, but is he being unreasonable??
Mrs G, I haven't done much cleaning, well a bit of washing and some cooking........just finished a chicken and veg risotto and am about to start a veal stroganoff :chef: I love being pregnant in winter, its great for warming comfort food.
Baby is really active today, I think that is why I feel so tired

Mrs Green - Yeah im sure bubs changes position heaps of times between now and the 3rd trimester, he has got heaps of room as you say.
Each time i see my Ob i have a scan as he has one in his room, lucky me!
Were keeping the sex a secret although i have a strong hunch that its a boy. I would really love a girl though...
Zenifa - although i dont have any experience in raising two kids, i would definately go with the double stroller, seems far more practical to me, especially when the new bubs will be getting too heavy for a sling.
Oh and that food you are cooking sounds yummy, must get a start on dinner, had the day off work today as had a bit of a cold this morning so will be nice to DH and have dinner ready when he gets home. Just going to do some roast veges and gravy.

12-06-2007, 03:12 PM
BTW Dansta, are you having a girl judging by your pink signature?
Dansta I wouldn't worry about bubs being breech at the mo, it does really matter, this bubs moves all over the place, sits on one side, and then the other, is head up bum down one min and then head down bum up the next,
I remember with DS2 he was transverse every nw and then right up till 36wks, was rather uncomfy
well i've picked up DH this arvo, he's happily playing with DS at the mo, I kept DH a secret from DS so he never new that he was comming, the look on DS face when he saw his dad was priceless

Thanks gizmo i dont even know where head or legs are all i know is she is kicking mostly below belly button on right side only as i know my placenta is on the left according doc at scan.
Moo Moo it might be my pregy brain but what does BTW mean.. also yes i have been told 95% Girl.
i have had a scan at 6wks 4days as i had a scare and doc requested then another scan as a follow up at 9weeks then the normal one at 12 weeks and 20 weeks and then my obstetrician apparently does one in his room at 37 weeks, but i can request one i guess if i have any worries or he has any concerns. I noticed from the posts and ll the pics some of you ladies have you are lucky to get a scan so frequently.
well im sure i will feel more and more ovre the coming weeks and maybe then i can determine what is where i dont feel flutters now its more movement like kicks or punches but not sure if bubs is moving as this is my first its all a whole new ball game for me. i cant wait till i can feel more. Whats the different feeling for each??
nicoleE
12-06-2007, 03:37 PM
Dansta for me the movement feelings are kind of like a churning feeling but still recognisable as the baby and not any other kind of movement down there! (if you know what i mean;) )
Its hard to explain but 'churning' is the best way I can think of right now. Then of course yes you have your kicks and/or punches, i cant work them out but sometimes she gives me a good 'ol one-two I can tell ya! Doesnt hurt but quite uncomfortable at times. Apparently their middle ear is forming at the moment or something and this helps them with their sense of balance so they are able to grasp things easier etc...

Welcome Moo Moo
I have been cooking today, well for tonight and also for tomorrow night. When I come home after work, the last thing I feel like doing is cooking, so we often have fish on a friday, pasta (from a fresh pasta place near my work) on a thursday, so that leaves me preparing something on a mon/tues for Weds night. I also made a nice salad for the strog and a fruit salad for dessert, trying to be healthy, as I've been craving chocolate and potato crisps lately!!
With regards to movements, I have no idea where bubs is, as I often get kicks at the very top of my tummy and often very very low down........but when I'm sleeping, its usually one side and then when I turn over its the other. I love seeing bubs at my Ob appts, shame they are only monthly.
Better go, my DD is creating havoc around me trying to get my attention. Bye for now!!

hehe the best way I can think to describe this fella moving is you know those gross kids toys that are fakeplastic body parts in a jelly bag?? When Lumpy moves it feels like that! Heheh - that will stop feeling like that though later when my tummy hardens a bit more - it is still a bit squishy when I lie down :)
Jo - glad your Hubby got to NZ safely! Hope your DS has an awesome birthday with all of his rellies there! Can't wait to see the cake you Mum makes for him!
Nyki - so sorry to hear about your breakup! It's amazing how much of a scaredy cat a man can become as soon as some responsibility steps into their lives!
Sarah - you're a mod can you get your friend banned?? Just until you spill your secret and then edit your post ROFL!!!
I went to the shops today and got some baby clothes! My favourite is a long sleeved legless body suit - it is pale blue with navy blue skulls on them!! So stoked!! I also got a Navy velour 0000 grosuit with a little car embroidered on it.
Other then that - not much has been hapening, I am really looking forward to this weekend cos we are going down south with our best mates and Stu's parents are coming up here and staying at our plac to look after Brion. Believe me I need the break!! Brion is in a really clingy - I love my Mum - no you cant touch her phase. I need my personal space back!
Grizabella
12-06-2007, 03:52 PM
Also - this one likes to lie sideways with his head on my right and legs to the left. my placenta is at the front - over near the right - so i think he likes to use it as a pillow:laughing: I get kicks anywhere from right down in my pelvis to up past my bellybutton. But yeah sideways seems to be the comfiest for him.

hey everyone,
thanks for your support in everything!!!

have been getting heaps of tumbles and kicks/punches, and i swore that it was hiccups the other night... just regular pops in my belly, it was so strange!!!
sorry that i havent got the patience in writing personals at the moment, been argueing with now, ex.....

Welcome MooMoo! Everyone except DH thinks im having a boy, but Id like a girl. As this might be my only child Id like to have a girl to do girly things with when she is older. But id love m little boy just as much!
I get kicks and punches every few hours, DH was watching my belly move lastnight as Bubbles was kicking so hard! Think Bubbles head is on the right and legs on the left seem to get more kicks on the left.
Also i have a question, at what dates do you have U/S? I had one at 8,14,19 weeks when do i have the next one?
Cheers to all

Hi Samarh,
As far as i know there are only 2 scans throughout the pregnancy, one at 12 weeks to check for downs syndromme and one at 20 weeks to check that bubs is developing normally and there are no complications.
Of course you can have as many scans as you like provided you pay for them.
The only reason i am having more scans is because my Ob has a scan in his rooms and checks bubs at each visit which is once a month.
Are you keeping the sex a secret or are you going to find out?

Mrsgreen663- well two are from my DH's first relationship and looking at the future now, we can only afford one more. But im thinking a bro or sis for Bubbles would be nice. As Bubbles half bro and sis will be 11 and 9 years older!
MooMoo- Dont know the sex, DH wanted to know but I didnt the U/S guy skirted around the topic which i am glad as DH prob would have blurted it out sometime.
I did want to find out but now i want a supprise after all the pain of giving birth...

Hi Girls
Nicole – I love the website!
Sarah – Yay for finding out and being happy! I cant wait to find out what you have, 4 months to go!
Erin – Oh how exciting that you got all that stuff laybyed for Pea.
Mel – Glad to hear everything went well at your ultrasound!
Zenifa – Not sure how to convince your DH that you are right but I have to say I do agree with you… Oh and I think Nicole is on to something with the buying the bunk now idea. And I don’t think you are being unreasonable…
Cassie – You must love cooking! Mmmmm Lamb…
Dansta – I am the same, its been over a week since I last threw up and I am loving it! Yay for us both!
MooMoo- Congrats on your pregnancy and Welcome!
Jo – Glad to hear you have your DH for awhile. How long is he staying in NZ for?
Jude – Ooooh a break sounds sooo nice! I love my little boy to bits but lately I feel like I really need a nice break! Lucky you!
Kyahli – So sorry to hear about all your troubles mate.
Samarah – 19 week scan is usually the last scan unless it is a ‘high risk’ pregnancy. I am going private so my Ob does a scan for me every time I go in for a check-up as he has an u/s thingy in his office.
Anyways I don’t have much of an update. Button is kicking heaps every day which is great. My m/s is finally over. I have been ‘nesting’ and baking and cooking a lot but apart from that not much is happening with me. I am soooo tired all the time though. I am looking forward to my next Ob appointment next week.
Kyahli
13-06-2007, 06:46 AM
next weeks scan will be my forth scan already, though the first 2 were just to see dates and if was progressing.
last weeks scan, they have found low amnoitic fluid that is why they are sending me for another scan!! :fingerscrossed: all is ok...
anyone still have morning sickness:barf: ?? or is it just me stressing and making myself sick??
Zenifa - I'd present DH with the facts even if they have to be written down with cost estimates. For example if once the new bubs weighs too much to carry around and a tandem pram is needed - no sales at the time will mean paying more for it. Maybe it would help to guide to him to the best decision - which may be pretty close to yours anyway.
Sometimes there is no sense fighting and just go with what he says but make him well aware of the problems it may cause you. If he made the decision, its his responsibility to then to fix the problem isn't it?
On the Ultrasound bit, at the 3 weekly appointments there is an inhouse one. Not as good as the diagnostic ones but okay. Yesterday we could see bubs sucking its thumb - so cute.
We are getting an extra u/s at 28 weeks because there is a cyst in the babies brain.

Goes from one extreme to the other in here - quiet then so busy!!
Welcome MooMoo! Looks like you are enjoying the thread already.....
Zenifa - sounds like you are having a frustrating time with DH! I like the idea of buying bunk beds now (unless of course you do get the cot back and don't have to buy anything until DD goes into a bed...) I also think a double pram will be a good idea. I can imagine a baby sling + pushing a stroller would be hard work! (not to mention not so good for your back...)
Cassie - people are not so much asking me questions about the birth more trying to share the worst stories they can with me. Saw my SIL (who knows everything.....) with some of her friends on Sat nite and they alll came out with "I know someone who..." stories and in the end I just had to tell them to shut up - I don't need to hear the worst stories thanks!! Though one did ask me what drugs I was going to have, and I was like WTF??? I don't know, I will just see when I get there!! Just was getting to me...
Tammy & Dansta - congrats on not :barf: for so long! I'm standing at 3 days now....everytime it happens I start a new countdown and hope that it won't happen again!! Kyahli - hopefully it will stop for you too, soon, but I wouldn't be surprised if all the stress you are under is making it worse too.... Cassie - you were sick every day when pg with Logan - how about this pregnancy?? Just wondering (although everyone is different) as I am dreading having a second after this....don't know how I'd cope being so sick and having child to look after!!
Jo - so glad you are enjoying having DH there - and so is your DS! Can imagine how excited he was to see his dad again!!
Jude - sure you will enjoy the break this weekend - sounds lovely! Glad you have been enjoying buying some more stuff for the baby too.
SeeJayElle - sure hope everything is ok with bubs.
In terms of how Pea is lying, I am starting to be able to feel different types of movement, and although mostly on my right side, it's starting to move around a bit more now and definitely get higher. At my 19wk u/s the sonographer said it's pressing it's head on my bladder and it still has its head down low with its feet up to my right - the other night I'm sure it thought my bladder was a trampoline, but it must have been jumping on its head!!
Some of you ladies sound like great cooks! DH is just so grateful that I am able to help out again (couldn't stand the smell of any food cooking until a couple of weeks ago) - he thinks it's gourmet even if I cook oven bake fish and microwave frozen vegies atm!! :o

Hi girls,
Everytime I come in here there are new people WELCOME  Looks like October will be very busy.
Kyahli - I have still been :barf: some mornings but I think it's more because I have been sick with a cold and I tent to have coughing fits and it makes me :barf:
I am off to see the Ob tomorrow just for the usual 4 week check up. This pregnancy is going a lot faster than my last, I guess it's because I am not as anxious, I sort of know what to expect.
I'm going to be on TV on Monday night, how embarrasing. You will have to look out for What's good for you. I am one of the girls doing a fertility test.

SeeJayElle, dont stress, kaelum had cysts on his brain and on his heart and i was told that there was a chance that he would have downs... anyhow, he is a healthy active 6 year old now and was never any signs after his birth that he would have ongoing problems.... just thought that i would hopefully ease your mind a little!!!
thanks for the support everyone!! no barf today. though have felt like it a few times!!! just have headache today too!!!

Seejayelle - I wouldn't be too worried about the cysts on the brain either. When I had my scan with DD I read the report and it said cysts on the brain, I rang and made an emergency appointment with the OB in an absolute panic. I got there and showed him the report and he just said - Oh yeah, that happens a lot, doesn't mean anything...
For those who have stopped :barf: woohoo!
I am not very good at personals, and for that I apologise - I don't know if I am sorry enough to try and do better or not... :D
Our house goes on the market on Monday - we have got most of the clutter packed up, but still have a bit to go. The cleaners have been today and done the walls and windows. The carpet cleaners come tomorrow to do the carpets. then it is just a case of seeing what else needs to be tidied up/fixed and then keeping it clean and tidy.
:fingerscrossed: we get a quick sale so that we can bring forward settlement on the house that we have already signed up to buy (subject to sale of this place of course).

:fingerscrossed: For a quick sale on your house Jane, all very exciting hey! The hardest part is trying to keep it clean in the meantime with kids
We were lucky, every time we have decided to sell its either been sold to someone we know or been sold before it was even on the market so we didnt have to worry about going through all the hard bits.

Mrsgreen - It's about what age is the best age to have kids, your 20's, 30's or 40's. I am the one that had the test's done for the 20's. It was funny they filmed the first half in Jan and then sent us home to wait for day 3 of our cycle, well mine never came. So I had to ring them and tell them that I was preg and they said it would make a great twist to the story. So that will be little old me on the tv. They missed some shots the first time around so we had to go back in the same clothes except. In the Jan filming I had smaller boobs and flatter tummy then it comes to Feb and my boobs grew and tummy was bloated. Yet it was all surposed to be filmed on the same day. lol

Happy 23 weeks newmum2006 (and Me and anyone else!) :yelclap:
Congrats on the girl KristyK!
I thought choosing a name for us would be very hard and include lots of stubborn headbutting fights as DH and I seemed to like such different names. I like less common names and he seemed to like the common ones. I had a huge list written up (and I mean huge, over 50 names for each gender!) that I have actually kept and have been adding to for years and DH had about 3 names (after lots of nagging from me to think about some) ... We decided to wait until we knew the sex before discussing so we'd only fight half as much  BUT I think it took us one easy calm discussion to come to the conclusion that our little girl would be called Alexis! I had Alexa on my list and DH suggested Alexis.... he is chuffed that 'he' thought of the name to. We are still deciding on a middle name but I dont think we are far off. We are not telling family and friends (those we see in the flesh anyway!) the name until the birth.
OH wow SeeJayElle, had you posted that earlier in the thread, I must have missed it... what exactly does having a cyst in the babies brain mean? (well obviously I know what it is... but does it go away on its own etc etc or does it cause complications?) Just ignore me if you would rather not talk about it... im not trying to be nosy, just curious.
Its in the Choroid plexis, its the only thing they found. All else is normal. According to the obs its nothing to be concerned with. In general, the sonographers do have to report it at this stage. In the future though they may not be reporting it to the obs. So if ppl are planning another bubs they may not even tell you about it. These cysts are a part of normal development of the baby and are usually gone by 26 weeks. After all this had been explained to me, I said it is not something I would like to have on my mind when the bubs is born. The obs offered for me to have the u/s at 28 weeks to basically make me feel better. So heres hoping that 'one small choroid cyst' will go away:fingerscrossed: .
Thanks for the reassurance and support everyone:)
Choosing a name is jolly hard - (for me anyway) Perhaps having a short list - like 3 or four of each is a good idea. When DD was born she didnt look like the first choice.
DH is so annoying when it comes to the naming thing though. I will spend like 3 hours going through hundreds of names and their meanings and come up with one which I think sounds nice. Then he bursts my 'its finally done' bubble by saying "oh there is a lady at my work named that, you cant name the baby the same":banghead:
So then its back to the drawing board.
I'll put the naming book and my shortlist from internet sites in the hospital bag and hope our decision can occur pretty much as soon as bubs is born. With DD it took 24 hours, so we had to contact ppl when the bubs was born and then again with the name:thumbsdown:

Hey guys -
Seejay - glad to hear the cyst isn't a MASSIVE issue - and one that can be put to rest hopefully in a month or so. Fingers crossed it goes away!
Names names names...it is much harder this time! We used our favourite with Brion. So far we have changed our minds quite a few times - right now Maddoc seems to be sticking out. We will most likely use that one.
I quite stupidly walked 1km to the shops yesterday cos Stu was at work and I needed something. And then walked the 1km back with groceries in hand. Stupid stupid stupid stupid!! Man am I paying for it now!! Never ever again. Feels like my @rse and tummy have been through a marathon!!
It's ok though - cos I made myself a chocolate cake to make myself feel better :D

SeeJayElle hopefully the cyst is nothing, i'm due for another big scan at 28wks as well, which isn't really that far away

Congratulations to Kristy & Bec on your little pink bundles!!
Jo good luck with the baking and the party. Have fun!
:hugs: to Jude & MooMoo - hope you are feeling better soon.
Not much happening with me....had someone offer me a seat on the train yesterday on the way home and thought it must have been because I am finally looking pregnant but realised later that it was probably just cause I looked completely exhausted! But the baby bump is starting to come along; DH's colleagues wife is 6 weeks behind me and looks more pregnant than me - I keep whinging and DH says to me "don't complain, give it a few weeks and you will want to be skinny again!" Well little Pea sure moves around enough for me to know I am pregnant lately....have to say it's very nice. :)
erinp -Glad to know some ppl still have courtesy. Its one of my pet peeves to see an elderly or preg woman standing up on public transport. These ppl may be unstable on their feet, it wouldnt take much for something bad to happen.
becc22 - congrats on the girl! Maybe just keep the clothes tags/receipts if you think they may be wrong.

Thanks so much for your advice on the natural medicines MrsG
Ive been having honey and lemon teas and doing steam inhalers with a little bit of vicks and had to give in and take some panadol last night, it got rid of the shocking headache though.
Ive sent poor DH on baby shopping errands. Hes gone to the David Jones sale to see how much the Bugaboo pram has been reduced to, probably not much or at all im thinking.
Hes also on the look out for a mattress for our cot. When we got the cot delivered i had no idea that the mattress was not included.

Hi everyone!! I've just finished reading the last four or so pages of this thread, so much happens when I'm away for a few days.
Thanks to everyone for their comments re:baby's bed and pram issues, for now DH and I have agreed to disagree and I will persue it with him again later, luckily we still have time to get the bed or cot and the double pram.
Good news for me this week is that I sorted out my maternity leave entitlements and I will get 12 weeks paid :smiliedance:. I'm finishing work on 31st August, which seems like ages away, but all the money will come in handy, as with two little ones, who knows when I will be working again?
Heard some very sad news this week as well, a close family friend (& my ?godsister) had her first baby this week and unfortunately the baby died shortly after the birth :crying: Being pregnant and hormonal, I was very emotional hearing this news and looks like I will be going to the funeral on monday :gloomy:
I'm 23 weeks and feeling pretty good, bubba is kicking and moving lots, i'm getting at least 10-20 movements a day already!! Aside from tiredness I am feeling good and enjoying the pregnancy. We are still having trouble deciding on names, each week we like a different name, this week its Sabrina, still thinking of a middle name (last week it was Stephanie)........by the time October comes, who knows what this bubba will be called?
Congratulations to Kristy & Bec on your little pink bundles!!
Jo good luck with the baking and the party. Have fun!
:hugs: to Jude & MooMoo - hope you are feeling better soon.
Sorry for no more personals, its hard to remember what everyone has written. Enjoy your weekend everyone!!

Hi everyone:wave:
I finally made it on here with enough time to actually post! It's been so hectic at school with reports but at last I am seeing the light! By Wednesday I should be completely free! I was struggling there for a while, so tired and grumpy but am starting to feel much better already!
Sorry to hear Jude and MooMoo are sick, hope you get better soon guys.
Jude- I hope you enjoy your hols down south, it is a beautiful place so Im sure you will have fun, even feeling crappy!:D
Gizmo - Have fun baking the cake, Im sure your son will love it!!! I can't wait to get creative with baking, not that I do much now!
KristyK & Bec - Congrats on the PINK news!!
Zenifa- So sorry to hear your godsisters terribly sad news, I hope all goes as well as it can on Monday for you.
Names! Yes well we have nailed it down to a short list of 3 and have decided to wait until we see our little fella to confim which one we'll use. Hope it doesnt take too long!
Wow, Im 24wks this weekend, it seems to be flying by lately. I found out (like you Zenifa!) that I will be given 10wks pd mat leave plus my owed holiday pay! I so wasn't counting on it as I wasnt sure what the deal with the education dept was but it looks good so that's great!:yelclap: Sure will come in handy!
Well, not else a lot to update here. Am still doing my pregnancy yoga on Sats, its soooo great I love it! Indigestion is a killer at the moment, didnt ever realise how bad it feels! Am prob going to have a look see through our hospital next weekend, just so we no what to expect.
Well thats about it from me! Im off to try and talk DH into taking me to see Shrek 3 tonight!
Sorry for anyone I missed in personals, hope you are all well. By the way, has anyone heard from Believer lately?
Take care
A

Mrs G- Our cot is a Love n Care one from Toys R Us so will look out for their mattresses. Thanks for the advice regarding springs instead of foam, i didnt know that. Jeez your just full of good advice for me today. Sent DH to the shops to get those Garlic and horseradish pills, thanks!
Zenifa, sorry to hear about your sad loss, thats terrible news, do you know what happend to the baby? The poor mum, how awful.
I've got no idea on names yet. Bought a book with 10,000 names in it but its just so overwhelming... The hardest thing is DH and I both agreeing on names...
Think i might wait until i finish up at work and have some free time on my hands to properly go through it.
Bubs is very active here too, lots of kicks, so cute!

Hi ladies
Must admint I've never posted in this thread before due to lack of time but it's sooo nice to have a night in!!!
Am 20 something weeks today - keep forgetting 25 maybe?? but am feeling it. We had 3 wardrobes built on Friday but the company stuffed up the doors so have to come back on Monday to finish the job! ggrrr
We spent last weekend and last night, taking out and putting back our clothes and other s**t! Can't believe how much stuff we've collected in 2 years. Bending down is getting hard - my thighs are killing me! And we had guests for lunch today who left at 5.30!!! Nap time I think.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend and recovering from illness etc.

Hi girls,
We are having issues with Names and Beds too!
DS will be about 21-22 months when this bubs is born and they way that he sleeps I don't think that he will be old enough for a big bed, but we don't want to have to buy another cot YKWIM
Names well it's the same as last time we can agree on a girls name but not a boys name. I bet we have another boy. I am so glad that we are having a surprise this time, just more to look forward to on the big day.
Sorry no personals too many people to remember now lol.
Anyway I hope everyone is well.

Names and beds seem to a problem for most it seems.. but not for me... i'm too organised.. well thats what i like to think.... probably just overly anal.. YKWIM..
Name we have is Chloe Ella R..... (but were not telling anyone until she arrives) if for some reason she is a he it will be Joshua James R.....
Beds... we have a second cot as DD will only be 21/22 months also and isnt ready for a big bed... but i'm also looking at finding a second hand bassinette sort of thing as i find the cots just way to big to start with... I had one that fitted into the stroller with DD but sold it with the pram... Might borrow one from a friend...
Feeling really tired tonight.. must be because DD was a little terror today..and didnt sleep much last night...
Hope you are all well otherwise...

Kyahli – so sorry to hear about your breakup. Sounds like you made the best choice for your family though. Hope all went well with your scan…?
NicoleE – nice website – how many ultrasounds do you have of Cashie! Very nice…
Hi Moomoo – welcome!
Zenifa – sorry to hear about your family’s loss, sometimes it is just too close to home…
KristyK & Bec - grat news about your little pink babies! How exciting!
Newmum2006 – I like both, nice choices…
Well I will be 24 weeks tomorrow and am feeling heaps of movements and now finally so is DH. As soon as we wake up and start chatting in bed, the little one starts kicking like crazy. Must want to join in the conversation!? So much to say so early LOL !
All good, no sickness or tiredness really. Sorry to you girls who are not well. :hugs:
(I’m a sales rep) I spent the past week training a friend who is taking over my ML, and we were away for a week together – in a car – when I find out she is recovering from about 6 weeks with the flu. Shock Horror! Sneezing, coughing, sniffing everywhere around me (poor thing) and I am freaking out about catching it… I have been so healthy so far…!
Straight to the chemist and started on Echinacea and Vitamin C, 3 times a day for the whole week. Also been taking Elevit religiously, so far so good… no sign of having caught it… :fingerscrossed:
We are looking forward to our holiday in Noosa. We’re leaving on tomorrow morning for 4 nights, back in cold Sydney on Friday night. A short break, but hey, I’ll take what I can get! Our last chance for some one-on-one time before the little one arrives! Can’t wait! Valentine
Have a great week!

I had DS in a big bed by 20mths, I didn't see the point in getting another cot that he was only going to be in for a short time, it worked out well, he had and still has a bed rail, and i put a bean bag beside the bed just incase he managed to get out of bed lol
Dellibelli oooh have a fun trip away, enjoy the peice while you can
well its so so so so so so so cold this morning, DH leaves this arvo so we have to drop him off at the airport, think we might go to the local market before hand
hope everyone is having a good weekend

We did a tour of the maternity ward yesterday, and all night I kept waking up thinking about the birth. It was my first real acknowledgement that this baby has to get out somehow....
So sorry to hear of your godsister's news, Zenifa. It must be very hard for her, and for you too of course - a bit close to home really.
As soon as we wake up and start chatting in bed, the little one starts kicking like crazy. Must want to join in the conversation!? So much to say so early LOL !
This is very cute and must be quite nice for you and DH! :) We were watching a movie last night (Days of Thunder, very old but one of hubby's favourites) and Pea starting kicking like mad when the car engines were racing....DH was stoked at this as he is a huge car lover....he said "well it must be a boy if it's getting excited about cars!"
Beds and names - we have had no issues here. We had names picked out before we were even married and though our first choice for a girls' name has changed (to Amelie), we still like the same names we had picked out years ago (Hannah for a girl; Harrison for a boy). We are lucky that we both like the same names mostly. We are a bit undecided on middle names still though, and we have decided to have a short list for each sex just in case the baby doesn't suit our pick of names... A cot was easy too - Boori classic - we seem to have very similar tastes!
Our last chance for some one-on-one time before the little one arrives! Can’t wait! Valentine
Sounds great dellibelli - we are planning on doing the same thing in 2 weeks time, heading off for a long weekend in Melbourne - but I'm sure the weather there won't be quite like Noosa! Hope you enjoy it and :fingerscrossed: you have kept that cold away too....

Hi girls,
Mich- welcome to the october mums to be. Im new too and the girls here are lovely, you will fit right in!
Delibelli- Is it safe to take echinecia when pregnant? Ive got a terrible cold at the moment and had forgotten about echinecia. Enjoy your few days in Noosa, i love it there. My bubs is the same, as soon as i wake up in the morning he starts kicking away, just letting me know hes there!
newmum 06- I've got Joshua on my short list if its a boy! Good taste!
I wont be using my cot initially as its far too big. We're getting the bugaboo pram (yay!) so bubs will sleep in this for the first few months.
I used this as part of my plan into getting DH to allow me to buy the bug.
"If we get the bugaboo we can use it for bubs to sleep in too, so we dont need to buy a seperate bassinentt"
He was a little bit lightheaded when he first found out the price of the bug.

MooMoo - Yeah for the bug!! I've got one too but was lucky enough to be given it. My SiL moved over from London and just had her second baby, she bought a Phil&Teds and said I could have her bugaboo!!! I was so excited and can't wait to actually push it around!!

hi ladies
we have bought a Boori Pioneer white cot with matching chest of draws and change table on top but realised we probably need a book case or something for a radio or monitor or stuff to put things on youy know....
We looked at the buguboo too in the beginning but were told a baby can not sleep in it for long periods of time or as a bassinet for sleeping in at home apparently due to ventilation issues and its not just the bugaboo's but all the prams wiht bassinets as we looked at the quinny too.
a few people and staff from the babystores told us this so i dont know how true it is but i didnt take any chances.
names ar had and we are struggling to find a name we like at all let alone agree on
we have chosen middle names after DP grandma and my mum (2 middle name) the name i like at the moment is Isabelle i dont mind Izzy for short either DP likes it but not really like it so not sure if thats a winner yet.
Madison was another or Mia but has been very popular lately so still not very sure on names.
we had jai jospeh anthony picked for a boy but its a girl so it was back to the drawing board still a ittle while to go before we need to make our minds up though.

Ooops, i didnt know this, thanks dansta. Guess i will have to go bassinett shopping...
Your boori furniture sounds lovely, i love white.

I didnt mean to put you off the idea but maybe look into it first or seek some professional advice
from what i was told we couldnt use the bassinet as the everyday/night one but they sell stands for the bassinetts so i dont know why they do this if they cant be used but i didnt take my chances and decided against it. they are a great pram though.
we choose white as the babies room room doesnt get direct sun liht as such as its shaded from the neighbours house so the wals are a wheat colour wiht a feature wall which is a deep hot pink and all the furntiure is whte and i have made some white canvas pics which are cuteto go on the pink wall which looks good. all coming along nicely...

Hi girls
I've been thinking about the bug too  - DJ's has a sale in Sydney, various stores and various dates in June/July - 15% off full price prams and other furniture on the day of some baby expo, check out their website. (Probably wrong place to post this but hey!?)
We're soughted for a name - Charlotte Lucy (and Riley if they got it wrong!) and also have the cot. It belonged to my stepson and DH has sanded and painted it - looks great!!
Have a fantastic trip Dellibelli - am jealous as Sydney is sooo cold:gloomy:
Working from home tomorrow as stupid wardrobe men have to come back and finish the job. Can't wait - Operah, B&B and Bub Hub here I come lol
evening guys, hope ya's have all had a good weekend, you guys sure have been chatting
as for the bassinette, the only reason I can see why the bug bassinetter shouldn't be used for long is that its quite narrow, well I thought it was anyways, same with another I've had a look at (having a bit of a memory block at the mo lol) so can't remember the name of it, the mountain buggy bassinette works well for a bassinette though, its lovely and big,
