View Full Version : Trying For Baby... No Success Any Tips??
Hey Mums and Dads,
Do you have any tips?? I really want another baby... we are trying and we are not succeding just yet... We already have a beautiful baby boy Bradley who is 11months. We would love for him to have a little brother or sister. Does coffee really affect your chances? And how often should you try? How reliable are the pregancy tests??
I really appreicate all your thoughts!

We're TTcing for No 1 so I dont' have any experiences to share, but apparently Bding every 2-3 days is good, as it gives the man a chance to make more sperm, and they live 3-5 days inside the woman so more often isn't necessary.
Have you tried using ovulation prediction kits? I never have, this is just our first month or trying, so we're going for the every 2-3 days approach. Will let you know if it works for us!

hey there, We have been trying for 19 months so i cant give u much advice.
I had a problem with not ovulationg but have been successfully O'n for the last 3 months.
We bd every 2nd day until O is detected then its everyday until i dont get anymore positive's on the OPK.
I've only used the OPK's for the last 3 months and have worked great for me.
I dont drink coffee at all so i cant help u with that question and either does DH.
We have cut out all Alchol (sp) and any foods with lots of sugar.
DH has zinc tablets and i take a multi vitamin's.
I also cant answerr the question bout pregnancy tests as ive never had a false or even a positive yet.
Best of luck.
Thanks for your advice DH & I are trying every coupld of days too & sometimes more... Not sure if that is bad but excited! haha
All the best to you and I am going to get an ovulation test next shopping cos this is rediculas ... if i do usally have 28 day cycles like most then I am due TODAY!! Yet nothing... I took a test last night and nothing showed up... I didnt pee on it for 10secs like they said.. cos i just well couldnt!! Hmmm Wish me luck I really really want this... and we have already got little bradley he needs a sibling...

I would try temping and charting your cycles to work out what day that you O. I did that for about 6 months but then I brought some OPK's off ebay and fell preg within the first month of using them. They were really cheap I got 20 for about $15 and only ever used 3 of them, it was well worth it.
Some people have luck with Maybe baby but I didn't.
Good luck! Sending baby dust to all.
My tips:
* Pinpoint Ovulation - I prefer Basal Body Temperature (BBT) charting over most ways because Maybe Baby saliva monitors and OPKs didnt work for me (they do work for many but not everyone). Check out www.fertilityfriend.com for info on BBT charting.
* BD every second or third day around O time, dont overdo things but ensure you are doing it at the right time.
* Coffee is not going to stop your chances but I would limit it to one or two a day. This includes other caffene like Cola drinks to.
* Eat a varied diet and exercise regularly - just do your best to be healthy.
* If your CM seems non existant use PreSeed lubricant (more for the spermies not for you!)
* If you dont think you are Ovulating then seek help, you dont need to wait the '12 months' Drs say is normal.. it may be normal if you are Oing but if you are not you have no chance.

Hi LauraLu, I have 9 kids and i have a lot of women ask me this question, but i think it comes down to each person, definitely give away the coffee , it's not good for either you or hubby especially if you are ttc, also relax laugh have fun , tension is a big factor in not conceiving, and lastly you can only conceive on certain days, usually from day 10 to day 18 just to be on the safe side , anyway good luck, you will be holding your baby soon i'm sure.

ok, i going to throw a bit of mystic into the equation ,but i heard recently, from a friend of a friend of a Greek woman who said, after BD, lie on your belly for a while. the month my friend heard this, it worked FOR HER.
its one of those old wives tales , but hey...can't hurt.
Jodie 9! HOLY DOOLEY! No wonder we cant have kids you have hogged them all! :smiliedance:

:D Hi Jodie I can relate (somehow) to that, I'm one of four girls and my dad use to call all of our names no matter who he was calling lol it was so funny....so I couldn't imagine him ever remembering 9!! I admire you, if at least half of the babies I have miscarried had survived then I too would be mum to quiet a few...I would still like a big family and hope that I might get a chance. Anyway, it was really nice to meet you congratulations on you family

How long are your cycles? I went to a medical herbalist (specialising in fertility) recently and she said my cycles were way too long at 35-38 days. She said you have a higher risk of miscarriage as the egg is older  . She made up a herbal mix for me which she said will shorten my cycles to 28/29 days which will make it easier to pinpoint O.
Good luck :hugs:
