So my little one is Bottle Fed, he has been since around 1 month of age as no success BF.

He has been on Karicare Gold - Birth and that has never changed, last night and now again about 10 mins ago he suddenly has diarrhea, very watery consistency, and rather different smell to normal yet same colour as normal poos.

I always make his formula at feeding time, same as i have always made it and his bottles etc are always sterilized and he doesn't go out the house much.

He doesn't have a temp, still active, smiling and alert and still eating as per normal. Still has tears and normal soft spot on his head so he is not dehydrated.

Any ideas what it could be? Could it be a bit of back up?

ETA: He is also not crying or in pain. Frequency of poos is still the same also... no change there (forgot to mention that)

Sorry its been a while since i had a real little bubby (hes 2.5yrs old now) but it could be just a little tummy bug, even though he's not upset or anything, it could only be the runny poos that its causing.

Just keep an eye on him and see if it continues the next few days.

HTH DD2 went through this on Karicare HA-AR at around the same agew as your bubs.

It went away after about 3-5days?

I just assumed it was normal and part of a growing changing bowel...

Might just have been one bottle or bottle bit that didn't get washed well and had a bit of old milk on it. Sometimes it doesn't take much, and it isn't a reflection on your care in making them.

I'm assuming it wasn't a new tin of formula?

If his watery poos continue overnight or he starts to show other symptoms of being ill then I would be tempted to either take him to emergency to be checked, your gp, or ring one of the nurse/health hotlines for professional advice.

Thanks all, it is a new tin of formula but he has been eating this for the last week (same brand) and diarrhea only happened once last night and again tonight..his usual bowel habits are once per day... so that hasn't changed. No other symptoms so will definately keep an eye on him.

... it is a new tin of formula ...
Even though it's the same brand he's used to, very occassionally dodgy tins of formula do make it onto store shelves.

Liam had this the other day and I was with the GP at the time he did a poo (handy!) so he had a look and said it was a bit 'watery' but he wasn't concerned......unless it happened more often and over 24 hours. Sometimes if the formula is a bit 'diluted' it can happen but just keep an eye on it and if in doubt see your GP.
