View Full Version : Positive VAGINAL birth experience
Can I just say, I had an AWESOME vaginal birth!
It was FANTASTIC.
I had my birth plan which was followed EXACTLY.
It was intervention free. Drug free. It was serene, musical, empowering and fantastic. I laboured in peace and quiet, and really enjoyed the experience in all.
Recovery was fantastic (I left hospital the SAME day) walked out and walked home, in fact. I was having sex with 3-4weeks :p, and I had two stiches and ZERO complication.
Best birth EVER.
(special thanxs to Viola my doula too.)
Anyone else got empowering VAGINA experiences to share? Share away!
Its possible all-you-mummies-to-be. Very, very possible. Just takes good preperation!
Lucky you! :)
wow what a wonderful story, how awesome, you are a birthing goddess :D :yelclap:
Yes I was lucky to experience a very positive VAGINAL birth too. It is a very empowering experience. I went home after 4 hours. Hmmm ALMOST makes me want to go just one more time...shhh dont tell my DH though.
I had a very great VAGINAL birth experience too!!
There was no intervention, I only had gas AND I got to whack my husband in the mouth! (he was asking for more drugs )
It was the best, most empowering, raw experience I've had!!
GO VAGINAS! :p
Nope, mine was crappy, but i love hearing about positive ones, gives me hope to be better prepared next time for a positive experience!
I loved mine too!
Was just how I wished it to be!
I know that with future pregnancies, another waterbirth all the way!
I consider mine a positive experience because I got such a wonderful result!
To be honest though, to me birth is a means to an end. The end was wonderful, so yes, my VB experience was positive.:smiliedance: I can't say that I enjoy the process, but I do marvel at the power of the human body.
Lots of things happened during my VB which were 'challenging'....things didn't go to plan and I laboured for a hell of a long time, I tore and I was totally shocked and shaken up for quite a while after it...but yanno....birth is never a walk in the park (OK, there may be a few of you for whom birth was a breeze, but you get what I mean)...
My birth experience WAS positive...
Why?? Because I worked damn hard, and finally at the end of it all I brought my baby in to the world via my vagina - which was really important to me.
I over came plenty of difficulties in my labour which many an OB would have liked to c/sec me for...
A 14-19 day post dates baby, a very loooong labour (failure to progress/wait??), a posterior baby, a de-flexed baby, a big baby.....the list goes on.
I am proud of myself for making the best of a long and hard labour, and as I said, having a VB was very important to me.
Yes, mine was good.
Next time, same again please, but at home, Ta.
I had a positive birth too!
Long labour tho... quick rundown.Started getting cramps Sat night,Sunday moring out shopping with my bro,in discomfort, had show at 1pm.Contractions all night, went to hospy at 9am Monday morning.
My midwives rocked!!Had my birth plan all done-just gas.By 11am I was asking for peth but my middie distracted me.Got in bath, wasnt doing jack so got gas.Back to room.
Kept on the lovely gas, rode it and started pushing about 3pm.5.18pm my babe was born!!!Slight tearing,a few stitches and off for a shower.had visitors a couple of hours later and was on top of the world!!
Im actually looking forward to labour next time!!
I wouldnt go as far as CHels and say I'm looking forward to the labour:no:
but even though i was induced and it too sooooo long - I had a great obs who cracked jokes the whole time, a middie who was the best support I could ask for and a loving hubby who was at my every whim....
and I got a beautiful girl at the end of it. ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE!!!+++++++++
I can't wait for my next child to be lying on mychest after the VB staring into my eyes. :smiliedance:
mine were all quick labours 4 hour ish last one was shorter... im all for pain relief... i tense up during contractions...but pethidine makes me relax through them i dilate real quick..... im not a fan of crowning or that stage of pushing... you know cause no turning back now:laughing:
but i had a great birth last time...no tearing at all.... i breathed her out.... it was slower then really pushing hard..but my vagina stayed intact after 2 previous 2nd degree tears:D ... and no stinging sensation..thank you...
its hard work though.... but im keen to make this time even better..im informing myself with more knowledge and am taking back total control this time
That's great! Despite being in a birth centre (staying at home next time, thanks very much!) I had a totally natural birth, no pain relief at all, laboured in the tub, had all the lights off- magic. I'll never forget the feeling of DS emerging, and me pulling him up onto my naked chest, the smell of the amnio fluid on his wet body, how warm he was, and slippery! His matted black hair against his head, that loud cry, and the feeling of the placenta sliding out. All of it was so powerful- I can't wait to do it again!
Great VB here too :D
I walked home from the hosptial :smiliedance:
(But it was only about 1k - probably less  )
i have had two great VB's
one at hospital 'oops' waterbirth and one at home..i was hanging out the washing that arvo...no tears with either.
homebirth was quicker and calmer..i also used arnica throughout the second birth, healed faster than #1
Great experiences here to Did have pain relief with ds1 peth and gas, no stiches, no tearing, pain was bad but nothing i couldnt handle walked back to the ward room and was moving around within the hour, having sex again about 3 weeks after and Ds2 was great too really fast no drugs no stiches was moving within 30mins had to have a shower! Great Bfing experiences here too, i love giving birth best thing i have ever done :D
I had a long 20 hours labour and a really long pushing stage, but got through it with no drugs and no tears. it was so empowering and amazing.
BEHOLD THE POWER OF THE MIGHTY VAGINA!!!:wizard:
Mine concieved and birthed two babies. Amazing!!!!:D
Three positve vaginal birth stories here - even with "Challenges" faced such as requiring induction etc.
My first was the most challenging mainly due to my lack of birth education and a misplaced faith in the "system". But they got better and better and the boys were dream deliveries for me.
I love positive birth stories. People tend to love to tell and hear only the scary bits and I think it puts a lot of women off when they are just as likely to have a great birth.
Hooray for all our girlie bits!!!
Great VB here too :D
I walked home from the hosptial :smiliedance:
(But it was only about 1k - probably less  )
Wow, you go girl! I joked about walking home.
Wyong hospital is just a walk too. I would never do it though! lol
I delivered Chloe at 5pm and wanted to go home the next morning. So I went home a little around noon.
So much more comfier in your own bed :)
Stupid hospy beds.
YES! Same here :yelclap:
I had a minor graze and happily resumed "relations" 10 days later
I stayed in hospital 5 days just because I loved it so much! The staff were fantastic and I loved lying back and making the most of the "room service".
I feel so lucky to have had a wonderful natural hypnobirth, with everything going just as we had planned. I do feel bad for talking about it sometimes though because I know some women really wanted the same experience but it didn't happen for them :hugs:
Yayyyyy Allysophia! Way to go! Congratulations!:smiliedance:
Can you share with us what factors you think let to a positive outcome for you? From what you've shared, there's:
* wrote exactly what you wanted in your birth plan
* hired a doula
Were you in a hospital or birth centre?
What # baby?
I'm so pleased for you! Happy Babymoon to you:

Yep two positive vaginal births for me as well. First birth i had a tiny tear (no stitches) and a little grazing, then my second birth she came out so fast and i was tear and graze free. After my second birth i really felt soooo good not like i had laboured and given birth at all.
WooHooo for vaginas!!!!
5 waterbirths at home...4 hour labours (20-30 minutes transition)
Very calm, gentle births
I love giving birth, its kind of addictive...very empowering
I was induced but it only took a single dose of gel and my body and baby took right over and birthed beautifully!
I loved my vaginal births - would have had homebirths except my blood pressure was all over the place.
Immediately after each birth I felt like such an all powerful birthing godess and the endorphin rush was definately worth having natural births
I felt amazingly strong and in awe of my body and ready to go home straight away.
Although the pain is all encompassing and like nothing I've ever felt before, I came through with no stitches and only grazing. I put this down to having midwives and no doctors - and midwives who let me listen to my body and go with the contractions.
Go the vagina :smiliedance:
I had positives experiences too!! Babies came 2 days after their due date, only used the gas, hurt like hell but I was damn proud of myself at the end of it all :D
First labour lasted 6 hours
Second labour 4 hours so I was VERY happy with that!!
A little bit of grazing with my first daughter but nothing with my second!
I am pretty happy with my births, I read some people's stories and really feel for them because things didn't go to plan it's such a shame :(
I can't wait to have another baby :D
my VAGINAL birth rocked!! my birth plan was adhered to (except for the cord being cut after it stopped pulsating, as it was VERY short!) - i had no pain relief and had wonderful support in my DP, mum, midwife and OB. i had a rather odd mix of songs on my birthing CDs to get me through (the smiths, the cure, everything but the girl, kajagoogoo, david bowie...) but then again i'm a rather odd person. i had a pretty quick first time labour of 6.5 hours, so that did work in my favour.
4 hours after the birth i was asked by a midwife running the saturday ante-natal class if id' give a talk about my birthing experience - which i did! a friend of mine works with a girl who was at that ante-natal class and she wanted to pass on that i was very inspirational (which made me all warm and gooey inside!).
definitely an empowering experience! :smiliedance:
I am so happy with my vaginal birth... i had planned to have drugs but was to stubborn to come out of my comfort zone... i was in another world..
I got to hospital 2.30 in the morning 10cms dialated..
Watched my contractions for a while but they werent bad just like period pain...
Tried a puff of gas made me throw up...YUK!!
Got into the bath sitting cross legged leaning forward on a hot washer on the side of the bath with every contraction and withhot water pouring down my lower back..
At 9 they broke my waters he arrived at 10.10...
Had 2 stitches..
No drugs, complete silence eyes shut the whole time...
Would do it all naturally again but next time i would like to deliver in water... Natural endorphins realy do kick in!!!!
thats great both mine were great as well
two beauiful vaginal births here. despite looking like a beached whale and everyone telling me i couldnt possibly birth 'that' out of my vagina.
5 hours first baby from first pain to the end. wonderful calm transition pushed for 22mins - 7pounds 10. no pian relief.
second 1.5 hours from first pain to the end. breathed his head out and one push for the shoulders. Gas 9 pounds.
Me : 159cm tall size 6
him : 6 foot 5.
How : put my care in the hands of midwives. i have no doubt had i gone to a doctor with my first i would have been puched into a c/s. ( GDM, large for dates, high head and small stature ). I obviously have an internal pelvis like a bucket and a very powerful uterus.
I obviously have an internal pelvis like a bucket and a very powerful uterus.
LOL! What a great analogy- I think similarily. I actually think that I couldn't ever have an issue birthing naturally... My births are just fab, really they are. My first one would have been better if I had been allowed to go on through the last couple of weeks with my waters broken, instead of being pressured into an induction (oh, hindsight....). But #2... my body did what it is designed to do. And perfectly capable of doing! :yelclap:
Now to find somone to surrogate for..
2 amazing births here, my first was about 16 hrs from start to finish ( i was only 18 and a bit scared) spent most of the time sucking gas and passing out! his shoulder were stuck so after a few moments of sheer pain he was out ( an episiotomy with no local till after the cut  ) everyone was crying except me!
My second went like this-
7 am They broke my waters with no contractions to start inducing me!
8 am No contractions still thought i;ld have a shower
8.45am come out of the shower and asked for pain relief mum went to get the midwife while i walked the 3 metre from bathroom to bed with dp help
8.55am mum came back- i got on bed i said i need to push mum ran for midwife!
9.00 am midwife said push when u feel like it
9.04 am 3 pushes and head out
9.06 am 1 push body out!
and she was born with her leg lieing along her body s(see photo above the foot poked out from blanket!!) but other than that perfect!
Another positive experience here!
I was in pre-labour (not established) for a few days on and off. It then stopped and I had a great 24 hours of rest (slept like a baby - it was great).
Woke on the Saturday evening after a nap, feeling very calm. Went to the toilet and my waters broke.
Proper contractions started about an hour later and she was born about 3 hours after that. All up, just under 4 hours from start to finish.
Had my DH and Mum with me the whole time, and despite some early issues with the midwifes not realising how far along I was (and then it being too late for any drugs) - it was an overall empowering and wonderful experience.
As others have said - it's a means to an end - but until you are at that end, it's difficult to understand that (especially for your first).
Hopefully reading all these great stories will calm some others out there leading up to their big day!
all natural ('part from a bit of gas, coz i'm a soft-core druggy from way back) was awesome!!!
i did it as a form of delayed gratification really - i wanted the quick recovery - to get straight up and shower and eat and pee - and to go home asap (hate hospitals!). i also didn't want no doctor making no holes in me!! LOL! so, stubborness got the better of me i think, and thank goodness, as natural childbirth (both of them) has been the best experience of my life!!! hurts like a [child with no father] and I screeeeamed like a banshee, but WOW!!!! is all I can say. It is WILD!
if you can do it, there's no better way to go! :D
