Cruskits are great... i used to break them down the middle so its more narrow and easier for DD to hold.

They go nice and mushy so its easy for them to eat.

As for sandwiches... try vegemite, cheese spread, tuna spread

I think hes too young for that stuff. No offence.
I didnt give DS a biscuit(arrowroot) til he was around 8 months and then he just shoved it all in his mouth and choked. And bread would always stick to the roof of his mouth and he would gag.
So I would wait a bit.

I have tried sandwhich - with supervision!!!!
And he was fine with it...it does collect at the roof of their mouths (there is another post on this somewhere) but you just wipe it out.

Just wasn't sure what i couyld put in it...and i just tried cruskit and wow...he LOVED it!!! I just sat there with him, and yeh it does kinda melt down in there mouth....

Just want to add something different every now and then, obviously not every day!

I gave ds cruskits when he was around that age......

He loved them, or there is the ryevita ones, and I think they are so much nicer!!!

Anyway, I use to make them with philly spread and sweet chilli sauce (only a little) and he loved them!

Or you could have vegemite, or cheese spread on the cruskits...

As for sandwiches the above (not the sweet chilli), tuna, ham and cheese (as its soft enough to chew)....avocado, olive tapinade (more so on a turkish bread).....

I opened my son up to a variety of foods when he was younger, now his favourites are olives, pickles, etc! Wont hurt IMO

It's also good to toast he bread lightly in the toaster.

My dd loved avocado on her bread from 6 mths.

She has also been eating whole grain crackers since then too and just plain raw veges.

I also finely chop up tomatoes and mash them into the avocado for a a yummy spread.

Even hommus is nice to give them on bread or toast.
