Thought I'd pop my head in and say hi...

I'm a 27yo first time mum. My hubby (tim- 29), son (AJ - almost 14months) and I live in kingswood, near penrith, sydney.

In the past few months I have been noticing how lonley I am. Not much stimulating adult conversation around here :p . So here I am, making the effort to meet some new people who are in a similar situation to me ( similar age group with children about the same age). I just don't seem to have a lot in common with my old friends any more.

I guess a lot of mothers out there feel the same way.

So I look forward to meeting and chatting with you all

HI and welcome!!!!!

dont worry I have a feeling that we ALL know what you are going through!!!!
the hardest thing that I had to cope with was the lack of adult conversation too :p
going from full time employee to full time mum can 'screw' with you that way

Welcome to bubhub though - I hope that you enjoy it!!!!!

Brooke

yeah I have noticed that. I'm busy, but not like I was when i was working. My mind isn't as active as it was.

I so miss adult conversation, I find myself blowing rasberries at my hubby out of habit.

Hi Melanie,

Welcome to Bubhub ! We have a lot of fun here although some of our hubbys aren't too sure about the whole thing :D

einalem-

Dont worry I know EXACTLY what you mean :D

I remember when my Hubby ised to first walk in the door I'd be kinda .. well CRAZY ... talking non-stop.....etc

you just go from this place where you have real people around you who can actually talk back to a one-sided conversation - & lets face it as MUCH as you LOVE your little one that cant talk back yet and you feel like you are talking to yourself ALL day long :D

Im totally here for you if you need someone to talk to ... I used to live down at Plumpton (do you know where that is?) and did a stint @ Uni at Kingswood a LIFETIME ago :p

thats so funny, I live about a 10 min walk from the uni!

My poor hubby gets about 4 or 5 calls a day from me, just so I can hear an adult voice, then when he gets home I am all over with him, just talking, to have some real conversation. The poor guy

einalem -

I used to walk to uni from the station ... (weird hey- its a small world!!) whats that chicked shop called near the station ??? I used to go there ... they rock!!

Look seriously I DO understand what you are going through!!!
My email is bb_bb@tpg.com.au if you EVER want to drop me a line for some adult stimulation .....

I have found bubhub as a real life line though.

So I see you have a beautiful little boy who is about a year older than my girl ...
how is he going? what does AJ stand for??

WOW! Another AJ!!! My son (who is just over 6 mths) is also called AJ - short for Adam Jaxon... Is your AJ short for anything?

This is also my very first post here on this site... I usually visit the Baby Whisperer website, which has gotten me through the last 6 mths, but I really am glad to find a site that is from "home" and hopefully get chatting with mummy's who are at least in the same country.

I'm so excited to hear that we are almost the same ages... My partner (Mick) is 30 , I'm 28.... Very coincidental that we also feel the same about having "not much in common with our friends anymore"... It's sad but true for me too! I was once a corporate girl who lived and breathed her career... My how things have changed! I wouldn't give up my role as a stay-at-home-mummy now, but it is a huge transition, I must say!

I used to be the one who would come home and talk about work, work, work... Now when Mick gets home I'm sure he feels I chew his ear off with AJ, AJ, AJ!

Hope that you find some new friends as I hope to!

Ciao,
Kylie

ps. Your little one is gorgeous!:)

he-he, the chicken man, they always smell so good then you go past them!

I will definitly keep your email in mind when I need a mental health break! Thanks petal

AJ stands for anthony joseph. He's named after my dad, who passed away about 8 years ago. I wanted to call him Ayjay, but hubby didn't like that (I think it was a bit too modern for him), so we settled on the full name for official stuff and AJ for short. Poor kid will be so confused when he grows up :)

Where abouts in VIC are you from kyeaj?

I heard "AJ" whilst at work and really liked the spelling Ajay... But my other half didn't like that either so we opted for Adam (dad's middle name) and Jaxon instead of the typically spelt Jackson.

I've never heard of the spelling you mentioned, I like that too!

I'm from Melbourne - Delahey actually...

Speaking of chicken, we live right behind a chicken shop... so we smell it all day long! Mmmmm chicken, chips and gravy!

my hubbys brother lives in melbourne, and his folks live in cobram (right on the murry river).

ohh man I'd go crazy if I lived behind a chicken shop, I love the smell of BBQ chicken!
