Connor has just recently started saying "Dad" :( .

Now, he's never met his father and has no concept of what the word means so I know it's just a sound he's mimmicking but it still tugs at my heart strings a little everytime he says it. :crying:

Has anyone else felt like this?

(Luckily he's been saying Mum for months now :D .)

lucas used to say it a bit. he hasn't met his father either. he doesn't say it anymore though. but he call's my mum mummy instead of nanna and he calls me mummy too. really irritates me because he used to call her nanna but it changed recently.

Apparently they say dad first as it is just a sound and it is a lot easier for them to say than mum.

Chanel said dadda after mumma but it is OK only natural...

I think it pulls at my heart strings as I would of loved Chanel to have a dad that was actually involved and appreciated those precious moments and first words. Oh well it is there loss

Big :hugs:

Oh! :hugs: They do say dada before mama because it's easier! my dd said dada, nanna, manda, tata, bubba, poo...all sorts before she would say mama! she's only just started saying mama and mummy (and actually sayin it at ME!) in the past 4 or 5 months (she's 20 months).

it's even worse now because her dad's buggered off back to the UK and at first she was saying dada all the time, and it was heart wrenching, but now it's even worse because he's stopped contact and it looks like he may have decided to vanish out of her life, and she will occasionally have a day where she says 'dada'...she has even said 'dada' to guys in the shops who look like her dad (yep, pretty embarrassing!!)

it's hard. having to start thinkin about what I'm going to tell her about her dad...is he on extended holiday? does he just 'live over the sea'? ah, bugger!
