 Hi everyone, just wondering if I can get some advice on the most reliable HPTs?? There are some big price differences and I just wanted to know if there are any that you think aren't the most trustworthy or that you swear by. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks Shonna

Hi Shonna,

I think you will find that all HPT's are pretty much the same. Some may say that they can pinpoint the hcg levels rising earlier than others. Some are digital and use words rather than lines. Some have (+) and (-) signs and others have two lines. Some turn pink and some turn blue.

There are enormous price differences but when it comes down to it - they all do the same thing and even THEN the only way to get a 100% accurate result (hpt's are 99% accurate) is to get a blood test.

Good luck!

Clearblue digital was my favourite as it took the question of whether a feint line was an evaporation line ou of the equation, no having to hold the test up to light at different angles trying to make out a line- just a straight "pregnant" or "not pregnant" simple as that! Thy come in a box of two and are so easy to use and he answer stays on the display for a few hours, great fun! To be honect though, they are quite expensive, and I only bought them when I was already pretty sure that I was pg. I had been using fortel and clearblue and was gettin very feint lines. I wasnt sure if they were +ive or an evaporation line - hence buying the digitals. It was probably perfectly obvious that the result was +ive but I was erring on the side of caution and wouldnt alow myself to believe it until I knew fo sure - later got a blood test too!!! Sorry, I am rambing again arent I! ooops:o

I used discover one step for jayden and this baby. As it has been stated they are all pretty much the same. I even used the coles brand and it was right!

I used fortel with Owen and it was accurate and had 2 tests in the pack. I would use them again for sure with the next bub. :)

Thanks for your help ladies. I guess the key to the best ones is to wait until AF is late and not test a bit too early and wonder if they are working or not. I'm just going to have to learn to be more patient!!
