My DD is 13weeks old. Lately she has been a little grumpy ocassionally while feeding, so I burp her more.

But twice in the last 48 hours she has absolutely, point bank refused to suckle despite being hungry. She has screamed as if I was hurting her. I had to express and then bottle feed. Both times it was late in the day.

The Baby Love book says that this can happen about this time, but doesn't give any solutions. The breast feeding association lady hadn't ever heard of this happening and suggested I get her checked for ear infections. She has no fever and is happy to sleep with her head to one side, so I doubt that its the ears.

Any ideas? My soap etc is the same and I should not be ovulating as I am on the minipill. (although I am having a breakout, so it wouldn't surprise me if I was ovulating).

I would appreciate any ideas as I am on my own at the moment and expressing and then feeding is really not fun.

I would just keep trying offering the breast the baby won't starve itself.;)

My son did something similar around that age. He had always been a bit a gagger or burper. He suddenly decided to refuse to feed but was hungry. He turned out to have a bit of silent relux and was assocating pain with feeding.

I hope that it is something simpler for you and passes quickly. I know how frustrating it is to try and feed a baby that is refusing. I used to put him down, try 10 mins later and then if he continued to refuse then try next feed time. But that was very hard if I felt he had had nothing :)

All the best :)
