I am approx 14 wks pregnant and have been having some brownish spotting for about 8 days now. I had a scan done a few days ago and it showed the baby’s heartbeat. My doctor said that the spotting is normal during the first few months and that I shouldn’t worry too much but I am still very concerned. If it not too personal to ask, has anyone experienced the same problem? Thank you in advance.

Hi Olivia,

I had some spotting with DD#1. It started at 8weeks for about 2 days(?) & then again at about 9.5weeks...it to was brown, my bubs heartbeat was great so doc said not to worry either (easier said than done:rolleyes: ) Well she is here now & is 3.5yrs old & o.k.! Someone told me once that it may happen when your supposed to have your period - im not sure though- also that brown blood is ok (?) as that means its old...sorry im not much help but i did have it & everything worked out fine...Hope some of this helps:)

Yes I had this at 16 weeks, scared the living daylights out of me! It was old blood up around the cervix that was coming away but even after a scan showed everything was ok withbub they still ordered a weeks bedrest, which i did just in case.;)

Try not to worry, its brown so its older than the baby!
Hope that helps ease your mind
J.

Had the same thing wtih DS at 13 weeks, the doctor said it was old blood from the implanation as this can take a while to come out.

Wouldn't worry to much, if you have a had a scan and bubs is fine.

Enjoy your pregnacy, it will be over before you know it :)

Hi Olivia
I too had spotting but mine was much later in the pregnancy. I can just imagine how scared you must be. I panicked too. Sadly all you can do is listen to your doctor and if you really feel something is wrong see another doctor and seek another opinion it can’t hurt. Trust your instincts ok somehow you always know what’s best for you and baby.
Good luck

If anything can assure you this is my story:

I brown discharged last pregnancy with twins and lost them both, there was no red at all.

This pregnancy I discharged brown from 5-8.5 weeks with a couple of days of red amongst this. Then at 11 and 1/2 weeks I woke in a pool of red blood and proceeded to the loo where I passed a huge clot about the size of my palm and I was cramping, was put into hospital for 2 nights and all was good. Up to this stage I had had 7-8 scans and HCG levels and all was progressing well. We are nearly 22.5 weeks and all is really good and bubba is kicking up a storm. I really can't believe it, this bubba is such a fighter, but it just goes to show you that not all discharge is bad. My gyno told me at 12 weeks you have a 95% chance of keeping the baby and at 16 weeks this increases to 98%, so these are really good odds. GL and try not too worry as hard as that is, positive thoughts go along way!
