Hi everyone, i just had a question for you all. At 10 weeks i had these pains that wouldnt go away and so i went to the hospital to get them checked out. He did an u/s and told me that it was a corpeous luteum cyst. Ever since that time i still get the pains when i lay down. Every night when i roll onto my left side i get this sharp pain on my right side, where the ovary is. Have any of you had this? Have any of you had a corpeous luteum cyst? I would love to hear your responses.

Hi there
I haven't heard of a corpeous luteum cyst, I've had cysts on my ovaries, is that just a different name for them. I'm about 8 weeks and last night I had this pain in my left side about where my ovary is, the pain is still there, but only just, I was wondering if it could be a cyst, it's a similar pain to when I had them a few months ago, I'm hoping that's all it is and not another m/c.
Take care

Jodie

I honestly dont know what they are. If you still have the pain you should go and get it checked out. Thanks for your response though.

Hi Jaydensmum,

I've had two ovarian cysts (on separate occasions) in the past but I wasn't pregnant when I had them. My Gyn removed them as they were quite big.

Your pain could be that it has burst or that it might be twisting. It might be a good idea to go back to the hospital to have it checked out.

Good luck

Thanks for all of your replies. Butterflykisses did your doctor tell you how it went away once you werent pg anymore? Im just curious how it justs vanishes, i have read that it disappears once pg is finished with too. Do you remember how big yours was? Mine at 12 weeks was 2cm, it looked huge on the u/s.

hey jaydensmum,
A corpeous luteum cyst is from when the egg is released from the ovary, it produces hormones to keep the lining in your uterus in case the egg is fertilised, normally the cyst just goes when you get AF. When the egg is fertilised, the cyst hangs around to provide hormones until the egg is implanted in the uterus and producing it's own hormones. It then normally shrinks and goes away. I had one after my miscarraige, it got to 6cms!
I never had any pain though, I only knew about it because they picked it up on the ultrasound when they were making sure everything was gone. I had another scan 5 weeks later and it had shrunk to 3cms, but I also had another cyst on my left ovary as well because I was pregnant again.
As far as I know, they have both gone now.
My sister had one hang around, it was still there about 20 weeks, but it was gone by the time she had her c-section.
If you are still in pain, tell your doc, I'm sure they will be able to help you.
I really hopes this makes sense!
