I was wondering what everyone thinks about what the deal is with presents and christenings. If you are invited to help celebrate a christening do you buy a present? And if you do what is a good christening present?

Yes, I would buy the child a gift.
DD1 was baptised last year and she recieved some gorgeous keepsake gifts like, silver spoons, pewter/silver money boxes, bunnykins royal doultan crockery, a jewel box with an inital necklace, a childrens bible and some gorgeous Russ brand photo frames.
You don't have to spend a lot of money to get a keepsake gift. If you are good at cross stitch or the like, a personalised item is also lovely.

Yes I would buy a gift.

My sons got so many keepsakes, photo frames etc

I prefer to give clothes as I know that they will get keepsakes from other guests unless I am a godparent.

YES I def. give gifts at christenings

You dont have to spend alot just something small is appreciated.

I usually get a cute 'god' related kids book you can find soem really nice board books called "god loves me" with just simple texts etc

I know someone who makes really pretty rosary and matching braclet sets for lil girls and they arent pricey but they are lovely

Its the thought that counts:)

thanks for all the gift ideas. I have an idea now of what I'm going to buy. I just wasn't sure if it was just the godparents that buy presents or if everyone does and wanted to be sure.
Thanks!

I love buying time capsules for christenings, you can get them from Myer - usually in the kids clothing section.
