Hi there

An interesting thing happened to me today. I was getting coffee with a girl from the office (also pregnant and due 2 days before me!). When talking to a colleague I didn't know about babies, he was surprised that I was pregnant and said I didn't look it. :D I did have a suit jacket on!

On the other hand I've had people (who I've never told!) ask when the bub is due and others who say there weren't sure - after I tell them.

Just wondered if anyone else had experienced the same thing? What comments have you been getting on your figure? Funny I feel huge but I obviously don't look it - yet!!

yeah I think I look pregnant, my mum always going on how i'm getting bigger lol and that i've got a big tum already lol,

I had a friend that I hadn't seen or spoken too since the beginning of the year come up to me in the supermarket the other day and she rubbed my tum and said congrats, so that must mean I am showing lol

i went to get a wax oneday and as i was lying on the table ( i had a habit of rubbing my belly all the time ) the assisstant asked me how far i was and i replied "7months" and she goes oh "7 weeks". and im like "no months i am due in july"
i was still small at fullterm from memory my fundal height at full term was 32cm...... but bubba was fine. she was posterior which is a supposed reasoning as to why i was so small....oh and she was 3kg so not really overly small:)

I don't look any different (I feel different, and look different naked, but don't make a habit of walking around in public like that lol) and people are shocked when I tell them. I had my last uni class today and took in photos from the U/S and none of the girls in my class (excpet the ones I had told) had any idea. I know I am lucky but still I can't wait till I have that bump :)

Ouch....fractured ribs....sounds bad....
When I was about 16 weeks I rang my mum all worried and said "could the baby be making me uncomfortable this early? Cause it's either the baby or my appendix...." Gave it a poke and it moved though.

I know what you mean about some pregnant women, I am getting a lot of tips of what *not* to wear....there are some lovely maternity clothes out there though and I keep wanting to buy them but I guess the longer I can hold out the less I'll have to buy and the more I can spend on baby stuff, wihch is more fun :)

Funny this was posted as I was going to mention this today... I just got a comment by the Parking Station attendant (who sees me every week day morning)... she said "So, not long to go now!" It wasnt a question it was a statement! I said "um yes - October - Im only half way though!" She went on about how far I looked becuase of my big bump and said its normally with the 2nd or 3rd that you start to show early...
I do love my bump and Im quite proud to walk down the street looking pregnant... but sometimes comments like that can put you in 2 minds about it! Not that I was offended, just not sure how to take it - as a good thing or a bad thing!

Normally the better your stomach muscles are, the longer your body naturally holds it in, hence why women who already have kids tend to show earlier.

Thats what puzzles me, honestly, look Im not the skinniest person BUT after 3 years at the gym going 4 times a week (2 of those years seeing a Personal trainer at least once a week) Im pretty fit and my ab muscles were pretty darn good - I was doing crunches etc well and easily! :(

Yeah, the whole thing about stomach muscles baffles me too, because no one ever knows I'm pregnant unless I tell them, and I am *not* the exercising type....never done anything to have strong ab muscles. I don't know why it is some women show and others don't....

I have to say I'm starting to look pregnant when I wear my normal clothes, only a few still fit, but when I wear my maternity clothes I do look pregnant but some people may think I could be a little bit chuddy. Im at the in between stage, is she pregnant or fat!!

I'm with you Nicole, I was going to the gym before getting pregers (and even while I was 6 weeks but didn't know it) and have always had good abs but I don't think they've helped hold me in.

I started buying some maternity clothes but now I just wear figure hugging dresses or shirts so I can show off my bump. I love the baby doll dresses this season.

Big hmpphh.... I'm 21 weeks pregnant with a little bump but people still haven't noticed that I'm pregnant - probably because my "bump" is very similar to the tummy fat I normally carry around!!!

And is it just me but I'm not feeling much flutterings or anything - now and then I think I feel something but could be internal wind or anything! But then again when I was pregnant with Emily she never kicked once. Not once! Just stretched now and then but never thumping movements!!

I'm actually measuring on time with this bub (normally smaller by a couple of cms) so I know my tummy is bigger this time.

And is it just me but I'm not feeling much flutterings or anything - now and then I think I feel something but could be internal wind or anything! But then again when I was pregnant with Emily she never kicked once. Not once! Just stretched now and then but never thumping movements!!

I'm not either. Did you/do you have an anterior placenta?
With my first two I didn't have one but this time I do and am only feeling a few movements, hardly any in comparison to my previous two (though I know bubba moves a lot seeing as she was having a dance party during my ultrasound but I felt none of it.)

I am feeling heaps of movements. I got lots of kicks and rolls and everything. My Ob said my "Placenta is at the back" not sure what exactly that means but apparently that is why I feel so many movements at the front....
I am definately looking pregnant now, there is no mistaking it. I can hide my belly with a big coat or something if I really wanted to but of course I dont! I went out for dinner on the weekend and I had lots of comments about my growing belly! It was great!

Tammy you've got a posterior placenta, at the back, I have a posterior one this time too. I feel movements all the time, when I was preg last year I had a anterior placenter (at the frount) and most of the movements were cussioned by the placenta so I didn't really feel much at all

Hmmmm I don't know. Maybe this could be the reason?
I know I've got that reverted uterus thing which means my uterus just sits differently which is why they have difficulty with u/s during early stage (and thus I have to have internals just to see anything!)

Maybe this is the reason also why I have lousy scans? And why sonographers try to cheer me up and say "awww just use your imagination" ...... :p

In the scans bub moves but I don't feel a thing..... now if only that was the same way with blood tests...
(mmmmm..... i'm terrified of the gestational diabetes test coming up in Week 26!!)

SpaghettiMummy

use your imagination that's a good one:rolleyes: ...
My MIL has an reverted uterus so I am aware due to her describing it to me how it sits so that could also play a part.

I know what you mean about the blood tests!! I had a HUGE fear of needles until my first pregnancy (had heaps of blood tests due to thyroid issues) and I just had to get over it so to speak... I distract myself by chatting to the nurse. DH is useless at taking my mind off getting a needle cos he just mouths "OUCH" to me... thanks honey that really helps take my mind off:rolleyes:

I had a huge fear of needles too, then when I had to have all my fertility tests last year and then fertility treatment which sometimes meant a needle every couple days I kinda got over the fear. Now it doesnt bother me at all.

I know how you feel! Someone told me last week I was starting to pop but then a work colleague came back today - she'd been gone for 4 weeks - and she said "you don't look a bit different - no one would know you were pregnant." I was so disappointed. My boss actually said to her, "are you trying to make her feel bad?" - and he's a man  DH keeps telling me not to complain because as soon as I look pregnant I'll be complaining I want to be skinny again....he's probably right :o But my belly is very hard, and I've been feeling lots of movement for a long time now so I know I am pregnant!

I know what you mean, my placenta is low and posteria (I think) and I get movements 24/7 - luckily I sleep anyway.

The people at the local shop commented on my belly yesterday and I had a big jumper on!

Nicole and newmum you both look great! :thumbsup:I'm not far behind you guys - if I get technologically advanced I'll try and organise a photo (read ask DH to do it!).

I've had a few similar comments - someone even asked if my stepsons were big as babies?? I felt really self-conscious after that.
