Hi All,
My boy Will who is 3.5 weeks old, is a really noisy sleeper! He makes noises (sometimes even a cry) periodically, sometimes every 10 minutes! I look at him and his eyes are closed so he is asleep...I was waking him at first to settle him because I thought he was awake, but now if I leave him for about 5-10 secs and he drifts back off to sleep. Plus I'm a light sleeper so you can imagine the nights I'm having! ;)

I know he isn't really into any patterns or routine, we are just going with the flow at the moment. He does sleep quite a bit but only for 3-4 hour stretches until the next feed! He usually has a 'bad' period early in the night where he is sometimes inconsolable (brings his legs up to his belly and arms into a fist), but we persist and eventually (sometimes up to 3+ hours) he settles down and sleeps. We wrap him during the night to sleep but leave him just covered during the day with his arms free.

So I'm wondering is he getting good quaility sleep or crap sleep? Also has anyone else has/had this issue and is it something they grow out of? I'm a new mum so it's all very new, but the advice I get from people and the internet doesn't really help and is quite conflicting. Just wanting some feedback if possible! :D

THANKS!

Hi there :)

Andrew as a newborn was a really noisy sleeper too. It really surprised me at the time. He grew out of it though, within a month or two, if I recall correctly.

I had a noisy sleeper & still do !!!
He now has taken to making " mmmmmMMMMMmmmm " noises when getting himself off to sleep its like he sings to himself heheh so when he wakes at nite you hear him doing it to get himself back off heheh Ive only just started getting used to his noises & bubs is 10mths old now !
The bringing his legs up to his belly sounds like wind which means he is in pain a few ways to help him with this is to make sure he is burped well then maybe even given a nightly bath to calm him which helps him relax in turn helping him pass the wind & also giving him extra tummy time even if its on your lap as the pressure helps relieve it !
Remember babies only sleep for approx 40mins at a stretch this is why he wakes a lot :D
