Morning everyone
I have another question that has been bothering me for a little while, I have been experiencing a kind of light stitch or pulling sensation in my ower abdomen. Sometimes when I am walking to work I get it but if I stop walking it goes away. I amso get it early in the morning after going for a wee - as if my bladder is sore or something like that. I forgot to ask the obs last week, and to be honest it has only really come back again this week. Has anyone else experienced this, its not that painfull, and its not cramps or anything just like a pressure/pulling feeling like a very mild stitch now and again right down where I would imagine my cervix or bladder is (cant decide which)
My own feelings on it is that it might be my uterus growing a bit. I am 11 weeks now and I read somewhere that there is a little growth spurt (among many) at 12 weeks. if it getas any worse I will see about it, but I thought I would check to see if anyone else has this?

Thank you so much for listening to my endless questins again!!!

Rach

Rach, it could be just everything stretching.

I get a similar thing but on the right hand side and the physiotherapist at my pregnancy back-care class told me it is the ligament that goes from the top of my uterus and inserts right down in the groin area being stretched. It also can be extremely painful sometimes when I roll over at night, but usually I feel it when I am walking my dog in the mornings and I have to slow right down until it settles down and goes away.

Hi Cosmic

Thanks for the reply, that sounds like what I have, it is definitely worse in the morning! Glad to hear that it sounds normal enough!

Thanks

Rach

Hey Rach,

Yep I've been getting this to for the past week or so (I will be 12wks on Monday) to. Especially when I first wake up in the mornings. I haven't been too worried about it though because it doesn't feel like anything bad is happening (if that makes sense??)

I also know what you are talking about....I took myself of to the doctor at around 12 weeks thinking that I actually had a bladder infection because it was also a bit uncomfy after going to the toilet...turned out no bladder infection and all normal...just the stretching of the ligaments I believe...I was actually in pain for about a week and constantly too! Good luck and I hope it eases for you

I felt this too...still do occasionally. Esp about 16 weeks, I went to the doctor very worried, but HB was nice and strong...

Dr just said its stretching pains, and the midwives when asked said the same thing.

Someone told me, spread your hands on your belly and where the finger tips are is most likely where your pain is...its just stretching... :)

If you are concerned it prob doesnt hurt to pop in and see your dr though for peace of mind!

Thanks everyone for your replies, you have really set my mind at rest! I thought it was due to the fact that my uterus is slightly tilted backwards, but if everyone gets it and it is just stretching, then thats a relief! I have been doing a funny "waddle" when I walk today, it seems to hurt more when I am walking, but is fine when I stop or lay down or even stand still. I am happy to know that it is streching, thats definitely a good sighn;)

I agree with everyone and say it would be the stretching ligaments. Unfortunately as you get bigger they may come back and make you a little uncomfy! Especially towards the end!

Trust me you will get all these weird and wonderful pains. Man was I worried with all of my ones that I got! But the Dr assured me, everything is moving around and getting bigger in there - of course it will be painful! :p I never had any problems with the pregnancy so he was right!

Take care and good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

Rach at 12 weeks I had terrible pain after my bleeding scare at 11 weeks. It was like a pinching sensation that came in waves as would a contraction. It was really low down near my pubic bone area. It went all day and it would take my breathe away. I have had it since but not like that day it lasted all day and I finally relieved it with panadol and panadol directly b4 bed so I would sleep. It was terrible this day, but ever since I have had it and it passes and it not anywhere near as unbearable. My gyno told me that if it doesn't relieve by laying down, resting or moving to a different position then you should be worried and to call your doctor (this particular day nothing helped but didn't see my gyno for 2 weeks after this). He said it would have been the uterus stretching out of my pubic bone area and it takes alot to hold it up higher hence the pain!

Has yours eased now?

Hi sheree!!
Thannks for your reply :-) How are you?
The pains seem to have eased a bit now, usually worse in the morning, but not quie as painfull now, which is good :D I asked the doc about it and was told that my uterus could be slightly tilted which corrects itself at about 12 weeks or so - apparently, other than that, I was told to have a relaxing (not too hot) bath before bed which helped a lot! I have my NT scan on Tuesday which I am really looking forward to! I want the reassurance that bub is ok after the 12/13 weeks. I think when its the first bub, every little niggly pain has me panicking!
