Hi
Im trying to find idea's for a nice but inexpensive car to get to my wedding. I will have 5 people, me, MOH, 2x Flower Girls, and pageboy... any suggestions?
Also, did you hire a car to get to your wedding and if you did what sort of car was it and How much did it cost?
Anyone got any photo's they would like to share?
TIA

My sister had just bought a new car, we just took it to the car wash and made it look pretty :)
Our wedding and reception were in the same place, so there was no need for a big fancy entrance. By the time I got there, all the guest should have been seated, ready to go anyway!
I think fancy car rental is a bit of a waste of money - unless you really have your heart set of arriving in something in particular.
Going with family/friends with new/classic cars is the cheaper option, but MAKE SURE it's well and truly confirmed well in advance!!!!!
We had a brand new bright purple Porche and burgendy classic v12 Jag lined up but the day before the wedding the guy with the Jag pulled out (family crisis, the nerve!) and the bloke with the porche had decided (without mentioning it to us) it'd be too hard to get in and out of in a wedding dress so he'd lent it to his brother for the week. :banghead:
Last min we managed to arrange a nice newish silver Ford, a friends car.
Had we the $$$ I would have hired a Ford GTHO phase 3 shaker and/or some classic Ford Mustangs, but that would have cost upwards of $500.

we used the bikes it was heaps of fun!!
Ring around your local car clubs if you know what you want and hopefully you will find some old fella kind enough to drive and do it for a small fee :D
We used the next door neighbour's SV Calis, and had 3 white VN Holden Calais (they were fairly new when we got married!)
One Calais belonged to the neighbour's brother, 1 belonged to a guy that I met whilst playing netball (I saw him pull up in his car, so asked him if we paid for his fuel and the ribbons etc if he would drive his car for us!) and the 3rd car our neighbour found cruising around near his work, and asked the same thing!
We bought all the ribbons, etc and gave each guy $50 cash (full tank of fuel then!) and invited them to join us at the reception. All up the 4 cars (not including dinner) cost us about $250.

Yeah I was thinking of using someone's car. Our ceremony and reception are at the same place as well. I was originally thinking of getting a Stretch Limo but i dont see the sense in paying all that money when everyone will be seated once I arrive and paying for an extra hour or so just to keep it there for photo's.

 The day before the wedding.... OMG you poor thing
If we had the $$$ we were thinking along these lines too (Mustangs)... nice cars or a Stretch Limo.

My DF originally wanted the VL's.... we have a few friends, who are going to the wedding anyway, who have VL's... maybe we could do something similar
Thanks for all the ideas guys :D

I've heard so many stories of friends/family pulling out at the last minute. Lucky you were able to find another car.
I'd suggest looking around for a wedding car company that has just started out - they work harder than someone who has been in the business for 15 years, and they are usually cheaper. Make sure the owner of the car is not just doing it as a 'weekend hobby'. Make sure you ask about any extra fees - if you go over time you had it booked for, you'll be charged for it. Some companies charge to have photos taken with the car too. Most importantly, ask about their breakdown procedure.

We weren't going to have wedding cars but dh's brothers insisted and paid for them so we had nice silver Statesmans but one of the drivers crashed the car coming into our street to get the guys so the second driver had to do two trips.
We hired two convertible Astras from Avis. My dad drove one, and a friend of the family drove the other. I found it to be so much cheaper than hiring a 'fancy' car as we had it at our disposal for the entire ceremony, location shots AND reception. It also came in handy the next morning when we had to drive to the airport as with car rentals you can drop them off at a different location to where you pick up from - also saving money on long term parking at the airport. We just got picked up when we got back. Saved a lot of time and money.

we had a fancy old purple car, and cos we loved commodores, some young friends of ours drove their lovely white commies in out wedding :)
The friends did it for nothing (we got them a carton) but the purple car cost us $800  Well worth it though lol

I would have loved horse and carriage.
We borrowed friends Beamers.
My mother had those guys that cycle you around, my companion was a bit hefty and we had to get out on the hills:D
Our friends had a mini bus for girls and Harley's (on way to church)for the guys.
As suggested car clubs might be a cheap option.
A friend has a stretch "old" American car but she charges an arm and a leg.
If you hire stretch limo's, don't say it's for a wedding as I'm told they charge more.
