I have hemp and bamboo fleece which i got from the co-op run by Phines (sorry about spelling if its wrong) and i am about to make a stuffer for a pocket nappy i have made it so it will fold into thirds and it will be 2 layers thick i will just be sewing the 2 layers together but what i was wondering is which sides do i have on the outside fleecey side or smooth side. ie 2 fleecey sides or 2 smooth sides or one fleecey side and one smooth side. I have had my hemp and bamboo so long and i am only just using them:o

Not sure... make sure you cut straight along the grain, don't pull the fabric too much when feeding it through. They are stretchy fabrics so it's easy to get buckling
On the other question, sometimes I do textured side out, sometimes I do textured side in. I like variety :p

Hey TC,
I'd just zig zag round the whole thing, then trim with scissors close to the edge - ie. don't worry about turning and topstiching if it's a bit bulky and you're having trouble.
and you can use any side - ie. greenkid hourglass inserts have fluffy side in, while hemparoos have fluffy side out. totally up to you :)

you stil have to wash it first before making the inserts don't you..???
i was going to cut it - but do i wash it first in the hot wash and then cut it - or do i cut it first and then wash and then overlock???
which way do i do i t??

Wash first then cut otherwise your cut pieces might end up out of shape or too small due to shrinking.

At least one hot wash. I think bamboo only needs one wash, hemp I do 3 washes - the first hot with a little detergent, then 2 without detergent. If you have a dryer use it to dry the fabrics, it will get rid of a lot of the fluff that will otherwise come off and be spread all over your house :)

haha - thanks emma for the tip with the dryer - i thought i would have to wait for the sun to pop back out again .... so i have been waiting for that and not washing until then - now i don't have to wait - i can wash it tomorrow and then get to cutting it up ...:smiliedance:
