I don't cry when they get their injections, but i cry when doctors need to take blood from them.

It annoys me that we have to wait so long for this to be done, because when i first take the kids into hospital they are warmed up/hot and therefore the blood comes out so easy... but the longer you sit and wait around the cooler they get and then it is harder for the blood to flow from their already 'impossible to find veins' :( I bawl every time the docs stick needles into my boys and put pressure on the tops of their hands to encourage the blood flow. It's so heartbreaking :crying:

Last time i totally lost it because Jack looked up at the doctor while sobbing and begged "Leave me alone! You just leave me alone! I want to go home to my bed!" yep, i was a wreck and told the doc to stop!! :o

No, in fact, I giggle.

I know that sounds mean, but I can't help it... I giggle most of the time when DD hurts herself (she's never hurt herself seriously)... I also giggle when DP hurts himself too. I just can't help it.

Nope I don't. I almost did the first time but she dosn't seem to notice them so it would be pretty silly for me to cry if she dosn't.

Nope. It doesn't phase me AND I don't want Cobes to think that getting needles is an all out drama.

Lou- your totally normal hun:hugs:

I dont cry but I do get a huge lump in my throat when Bailey sits there all happy then the needle goes in and he lets out a huge squeal. But with every needle he stops crying immediately and goes back to normal so I think thats why I dont cry.

However his first needles I was a mess:yes:

Hope little Lukey is all good now, big hugs to the darling little man from his buddy Bai xox

I hate DS having his needles and for the first two times I did get teary. I won't let myself now though as he is so much more knowing and I don't want to create any more anxiety for him.

I don't cry when they get injections.

The only time I cried was when my DS was 1wk old & had to go to hospital as he had bad gastro. They went to take blood & the minute I saw the rubber band they were going to put on his arm I burst into tears, :crying: the male nurse didn't know what to do. bub was crying, I was crying, he didn't know who to comfort first.:D

Dont let your child see you cry when he gets his shots, for gods sake. If they see you cry, it could send the message that it is a scary, bad experience and make their anxiety worse IYKWIM.

Also, I think that it is important to try to be strong and hold them and cuddle them on your lap while they get it done, so you can soothe them and let them know then and there that its okay...

Just like falling over, its all part of life. I dont cry at all. maybe Im just mean! lol

I dont cry either, purely because i don't want to make it worse for him.
I did get a big lump in my throat tho when he had his 12mth purely because there was 3! I actually got DP to hold him for the 3rd one coz I didn't want to work DS up even more by being so tense.
It was worse when we went back to the drs two weeks later and as soon as we went into the room and ds saw the dr he started screaming!

Nah I dont cry.I hate seeing Riley in pain, but i would rather him cry for a second than get some horrid thing like chickenpox and be miserable for weeks.
I did cry when he was first born and the ped. did all the tests to make sure all was fine.He stripped him down and was doing all this stuff,I had to walk out of the room, leaving Mark there while I had a wee cry:o

Lukey's forgotten alllll about it :)

No. I do get an uneasy feeling in the immediate lead-up to the injection, but I manage to smile reassuringly for Tom. He gets tense in the lead up too (probobly because I am) but recovers very well.

When I did my maternity nursing work experience for uni I had to give those horrid heel-***** things, I didn't like doing it but it wasn't hard to do. When Tom was born and had to have one I left the room! :o I knew exactly what he was in for and couldn't stand it! Didn't cry but felt sooo uneasy!

The only time I really cried over Tom being hurt/unwell was not long ago when he had a 40 degree fever and broke out in a rash, had all the symptoms of meningocccul, DH was at work so I had to take Tom to hospital on my own. Bawled all the way there to find out he had tonsilitis. :o

Lets face it when you're hormonal a nappy ad on TV can make a mum tear up, so if you're in that state when bubs is getting skewered you're bound to shed a tear!

i didnt cry when DD got her shots.

It was hard to watch but at the same time i had to hold it all together cause if i lost it completely it would make her anxiety worse. I guess i dont want her to grow up fearing this kind of thing.

I don't cry, but i get really upset :(

For the 2 month one, i was by myself with her and i was so upset with myself, she was bawling her eyes out and i felt like the most horrible person in the world.

For the 4 month one, mum came with me and held onto Charlotte while they did it. That made me feel a little more comfortable but i was still upset by it.

For the 6 month one, i was by myself again. And this was the worst. She cried for the least amount of time, but she was more aware of things this time - I hated that she could see what they were doing!

I am dreading the 1 year one the most.... I just hate seeing her cry like that.

No I haven't ever cried as DS1 has NEVER cried at ANY of his injections. Not even his 4 year old injections.

He must have a massive pain threshold not to cry EVER:confused:

So by the time ds2 and ds3 I had a thick skin.

I don't like taking them and do feel sad for them but I don't cry as such.

I get choked up. I don't cry though.

When DS had to get a spinal tap at a young age I was balling my eyes out though. Same when DD had to get a needle done to test the urine in her bladder.
