I've read a few threads where some hubber's family were non-supportive of cloth nappies.. and it just made me think how lucky I am that I have an entirely supportive family of our using cloth nappies..
My MIL thinks MCN is fantastic and my friends are fascinated by the "cute nappies!".. I've even caught them cuddling up to the bamboo ones cos they're so soft..
My husband is a complete cloth-advocate, he loves folding my terries and putting the snap-ins into my MCN..
What about your family?
Jessie
My mum says I wont keep up with the washing, DH says the same.
No faith in me I say..
DH loves it, my sister (who is never having children) is super super proud of me, my mum tells everyone she can that her daughter uses cloth, my nana thinks it's fantastic and my aunty is going to buy my cousin cloth nappies for their baby when he and his fiance have one. She said there is no way in the world her son will ever put a disposable on his children.
My family are extremely supportive!!

DH was a tad iffy at the start but now he couldnt imagine Dakota in anything but cloth. He talks to his boss about it (they have a new grandson) and recommends which one's to get ect..
MIL is awesome about it. When she comes down to visit she'll be itching to see what new nappies Dakota has got.
I don't think i have had any negativity from family/friends. Tho they might get sick of me talking about them and showing them D's stash eventually.

DP's not really interested in any baby stuff as it is (products and whatnot, not our daughter!), and wasn't supportive of the switch to cloth (but too bad - I'm the one who'd be washing them, I'm the one who changes them, so he can get stuffed! lol).
HOWEVER... last night I was pleasantly surprised with him. He actually tipped the poo into the toilet AND put the nappy in the pail. He normally just leaves it sitting next to DDs changetable (gross). But this time he actually did it right!
Nobody else really cares... lol. I talk on about cloth nappies and they just nod like they couldn't care less.

Everytime I have a bub my nan sends a packet of terry flats, plastic pants and snappy nappies. Got love Nan!
Mum loves my MCN and always has a look under DD's clothes to see what she is wearing. She told her next door neighbours DIL about DD's cool nappies.
DP is very suportive although he does keep telling me I dont need anymore nappies. He will change nappies aslong as they are all ready assembled.
DS1 sits down with me when the washing is done and helps put the nappies "Together" he loves BBB.

My Mum kept insisting to buy disposables - and still isn't fussed on the idea of them (it's been over 2 years now).
My in laws are not keen on it either unfortunately. The only person I know that is related that loves the idea is my SIL who bought her kids up wearing flats many many years ago and she loves MCN.
my DH is very supportive, he rinses them with the little squirt and all (washing is still my job).
my extended family aren't surprised at all - they always say i am a "tree-hugger" :D
tho my MIL thinks i shouldnt spend all this money on MCNs, should just use flats but i LURRRVVVVE my modern cloth and so does Harper!

My mum is really happy about it (as she used cloth with both me and my brother). A friend of mine, however, was not as impressed and came out with a comment of "well Im not changing your kids bum if I have to deal with a cloth happy"!
I think though she is just jealous as she didnt take a lot of care when she had her little girl. No research into different kinds of nappies or anything like that (actually ummm no research about anything) .

My husband is excited about all the money we will save and the fact that I do the laundry. He also is happy with how the BG look just like disposable, but better!
Mum thought I was crazy until she saw the nappies. Now she gets it (she hated terry nappies and didnt realies there was such a thing as MCn before
SIL's think i am going insane... I will convert them before long though!
I know it is a good choice, Oli has had his disposable on for 2 hours, just got him out of bed and he is wet right up the back. Grrrr, cant wait for my fluffy mail!

Most of my family love my MCN nappies!
My dad has always been against sposies, (his job is very evironmental), but when I had Noah there was no way I was mucking around with terry squares and pins, which is all I knew about cloth. Plus Noah was extreemly refluxy as a baby and I was doing about 2 loads of washing a day with all the :barf: Anyway when I had two in nappies I discovered MCN, and haven't looked back
It's interesting though one of my SILs says how much she loves the nappies I've made, but always goes on about how her SIL was silly paying $800 for her nappies. SIL just doesn't get that she is the silly one who has spent thousands putting her 3 kids in sposies  A part from that all
I think they are all sick of me talking about them though
My mum , MIL and DH are all cool with it. My Mum's as excited as me :) and MIL thinks it's great, but they've always known I was a bit of a greenie. LOL... (well Mum I am YOUR child.. gotta love my hippie mother.. :hugs: )
MIL is still learning about MCN's but she's getting th ehang of it and has told my SIL and BIL who aren't 'supportive' but don't think it's a completely stupid idea (mind you, the only reason they don't think it's completely stupid is because SIL read some magazine article about which celebrities use cloth nappies  )
My Dad thinks its a waste of time... but he barely even sees the kids, let alone changes a nappy... so as if I care. Oh yeah, and my sisters don't think much of the idea either...

So which celebs use cloth?
I've got no idea! But I do... so there you go :p
I could maybe google it.
Hmm.. can't find it. But I found a site on celebs who baby-wear! HERE (http://www.mammasmilk.com/pages/celebrities.php)

my mum flatly refuses to use them. she wont look after DS unless i provide sposies for her
MIL wont use them either, but she buys her own sposies for when she babysits.
DP loves the look of them, but wont flush the poo or anything like that. refuses to wash them, doesnt know how to fold them and wont use them unless i tell him to.
so, absolutely zero support here

My df dosn't change nappies so i guess he has no say in it.
My mum is supportive of it and changes the kids for me sometimes.
My mil also loves it and thinks it a great idea, she is also supportive of it.
My DH is a convert, likes MCN now....but I think the main problem that my extended family have with MCN is the cost involved. I think they think "why dont you just use the old fashioned cloth"...they are all for saving a $$. But the thing is I probably wouldnt use cloth if I didnt have access to MCN, the old fashioned way doesnt really do it for me.....soaking, chemicals bla bla bla

My mum thinks it is the best thing ever - she has financed a few purchases for me LOL!! MIL doesn't seem fussed either way(something wierd going on with her lately so who knows really!). None of our friends have kids yet but they all think the nappies are cute and ask questions about them - I am getting in early and brainwashing them all NOW!! LOL!

My mum tells everyone, my sister says "its great what your doing for the environment", and other friends and family are just marveled that i can actually make something (gee.... thanks )

MIL - thinks why use cloth when disposables are so much better. But my mum has been pretty supportive. I converted my sister - who's bubs is a few weeks younger than Nick, and our other sister expects to inherit all our nappies when she falls pregnant. lol. DH thinks they are pretty cool too. Although he does think i am obsessed.
BTW I was showing a BP to some friends today, and one said 'oh so you use that instead of a nappy' lol 'intsead of' - it IS a nappy. :D

I don't know anyone around here that I can talk about MCNs with really (friends, I mean)... it's disposables all the way with all the mum's and dad's I know.
My MIL is all for it, though does see terry flats as a better option for the hip pocket. My SIL uses terry flats so is already a fan of cloth.
My little sis is proud of her hippy big-sister, lol, and expects to get all my MCN for her own bub (one day)... geez she gets it good, doesn't she!
My mum likes it, but is sooo sick of all the MCN talk!! Although she's a knitter and so I get around that by talking about soakers/shorties and longies with her, lol :D

DF was more than happy to switch to cloth and now helps hang them out and bring them in, he would help fold but I like them done right :p so I do all the folding.
My mum used cloth with us so she was very happy that we decided to switch.
Some friends have been interested, some think I am crazy (which I don't mind them thinking :p) and some just straight out say "As if you could be bothered". If only they took the time to really understand how it all worked

My mum is really supportive, infact I think she'd be upset if my baby ever gets put in a sposie! Lucky us, she is going to buy us a fulltime BBB pack in a couple of weeks!! I can't wait I'm super excited about it.
I showed DP the trial BB bamboo that I got a while ago. Haha, he was more intrigued about the fact it was made out of bamboo than anything else
It's all my decision to do cloth nappies really cos I know DP won't change the nappies, or wash them. But that ok by me.
My sisters love the look of MCNs, Oh and my bro is a total greeny so is really supportive too!:D
Dunno about the inlaws, never met them, but they arrive this weekend so hopefully I can convert them!
I wonder how many people I can convert... maybe I should take my BBB and BG and Baby Kanga to antenatel class monday night........
My mum is rapt - she told me recently that she was upset that I didn't continue with my girl (she was in terry flats as a newborn for 3 weeks) She is intrigued by the bamboo too.
My mil is not thrilled by them. She complains about his "big woolly pants" and gets confused by the snaps. She asked hubby to just bring "normal nappies" when he stays there. So should I take over flats?:p :D (She means disposables )
I think its all too confusing for her. But saying that, she is unwell and doesn't like changing nappies at all. She didn't like to look after my big boy until he was undies.
Hubby wasn't impressed at first but now he is into them more and likes to tell ppl that they have options and why cloth is better.
My bro and sil seem to find them interesting but are using disposables.
My girl likes them too and says that is what she will use when she has a baby (many many years from now) and she has a few cloth nappies for her doll!
So which celebs use cloth?
I think there are a few.
A certain few cloth diaper companies actually gave them to new celeb mums who they thought would appreciate it.

Maggie Gyllenhaal uses them..
I am amazed at the amount of people who say their partner doesn't/won't change nappies!! How does that work??? Thinking I am very lucky! LOL :D
My DH is very supportive, changes nappies, puts poop in the loo, rinses them if they need it and has washed them before. Don't think he would be able to put them together though... Hehehe ;)
Mum and dad very supportive, and MIL etc don't think they care either way. They never change her so it is not an issue.
I have had no negative comments from friends or relo's, they all are amazed and think they are SO CUTE! LOL
I do also get those strange remarks about how expensive they are, when they will happily, without a second thought- spend thousands on something they throw away???
I really do not understand that logic!
My Mum thinks it's a great idea and has already been telling people about MCN before our baby is born. She wants to buy some more for us - but she said she will wait til bub is born incase she gets to buy pink. My MIL only used terry flats and assumed that I would be using them - haven't showed her the MCN yet - I think she will say they're too expensive
DH doesn't care, mum always wanted me to use cloth, and now that i do she whinges that they are expensive waste of money and they leak :banghead: We are just having a few issues with the nappies these days and they are leaking but usually it's either cause it was on too long or not put on properly by others.
And she is also trying to get me to put plastic pilchers over my MCN cause they leak! Grrrr! They don't need plastic pants!
