I just lost this whole post now I have to type it all out again :banghead:
Anyhoo, I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
I feel more anxious doing familiar things and around people I know than I don't know?
Eg. I would be perfectly fine going and meeting up with a bunch of people I didn't know, but feel ancious if I had to go to somthing where I knew everyone there?
Does that make sense?
Has anyone felt similar?
Hi Phineas. I'm not comfortable around people period! But, there are times when I am more comfortable around strangers because you will never have to see them again, so you don't have to worry about making a fool of yourself.
Hey Phin,
I have quite bad social anxiety and panic in un-familiar situations and familiar ones, I think people will think I am stupid, ugly, waste of space, boring, showing off, what ever I will think they are thinking it, recently I have found Bach rescue remedies really good, that and valium they also have heaps of other really good ones I also use courage spray.
I stopped taking valium as I didn't want to become dependent on it the resuce remedy is great try it :)

I've felt it!
Only way I could overcome it was by breaking things down into small do-able steps.. and by making myself do it, and rewarding myself when I overcame it..
Hope this helps :hugs:

phineas I've experienced that too! I think it's because I feel they don't know me so I don't care as much what they think IYKWIM

My anxiety creeps up on me everywhere and my panics attack always come get me too :( Weather i am with people i know or if i am at home, today i felt i was having a good day and sneaked to safeway why the kids were out back with DH...get in there and had to leave :( i hate them!!
Usually i can talk myself out of them or ring someone i know and tell them whats going on but today i went and sat in the car for 20 minutes till it passed, they are horrible things wish there was a magic wand to make them go away!
So true, I suffer panic attacks before work! I have been working there for 6 years, you would think I would be really relaxed with it by now.
You are so not alone.
