Hi All - this may be a daft question (and possibly an obvious answer!?) but I am going to ask it anyway:o .............I am flying to Sydney (from Brisbane) on Sat with my 5mth old DD. She normally has her first feed (bottle) anywhere between 7 - 8am and then her next one between 11am-12noon. Our flight is 9am, so she will have had her morning feed by then. I know that it is a good idea to feed bubs on take-off (and landing ?) to help with any discomfort of ears popping etc, so, given that she isn't "due for a feed" should I just be giving her a bottle with water or even just a dummy!!? Thanks

If she will drink water, try that:) Dummy might help also....

Would she take an extra bottle at that time if she doesnt like water? The swallowing definately helps

Good luck.

You know, she probably would take an extra bottle 'cause she definitely loves to eat! But she does take water fine too. Maybe I should just see what time she wakes and feeds that morning and then take it from there!? Thanks :)

Yep, see how she goes...as long as you have something ready for her to suck and preferably swallow, you'll be OK:thumbsup:

Best of luck....I have always found that flying makes my bubbies sleepy, so they normally sleep the whole way after take off:yes:

 sounds good, I will take a stash with me!! or maybe I should take DD for a walk to try to console her and accidentally-on-purpose stand right next to their seat! :p

I'd just wait & see how she goes. Have a bottle & dummy on hand ready, but she may not need it. DD was 5months when we went to the UK, and the dummy was enough to keep her happy on take-iff & landing. the landing was worse, as it starts of slowly. As soon as you feel the first part of the descent, pop the dummy in.

I woudl just add (from experience) - don't start feeding till the plane ACTUALLY is taking off. You know how they taxi for a while then sit there etc? My little boy would insist on feeding as soon as he saw me thinking about it (I was breastfeeding) and be finished before takeoff if I wasn't careful! I must add, he always was fine anyway.
