Does anyone commute via train to Sydney from the Central Coast for work? Can the trains be relied on? Do you always get a seat?

We are thinking of moving from Newcastle to somewhere on the Central Coast so I can return to my old job located near Central station.

I dont commute to sydney by train but good old city rail are notorious for running late and not to mention there are never any seats and you end up stuck smelling someone elses armpits for the whole trip.
I have had friends that commuted from the coast to strathfield and hated it with a passion.
Sorry not much help just giving you a friends recount of the commuting experience.

I know people who commute from Central Coast to Sydney and they don't have good tales to tell I'm afraid.

DF does it everyday. $54 for a week ticket.
He's never late to work but he usually gets to work half an hour early.
I always find the brochure timetables to be way off, but the online city rail timetable is better.

DF gets on at Wyong and he gets to North Sydney within about an hour and twenty-minutes.
