I dont normally do temps or test cm or any of that stuff - I use OPK's (when they're only $20 for 5 + 1 HPT I cant complain). Anyway, just for the sake of it I used an OPK this morning and what do you know, a pale pale line came up... Perhaps I am going to O in the next day or two.. I didn't think I would be due to O until the weekend!!!

Will do another OPK when I get home tonight, and see if the line has gotten any darker. If so, then I guess the little boys are coming outta the freezer tonight!

I am getting so nervous about this!!!

Good luck Ally!!

I used the kit you're talking about. I did the ov test 2 days before I really should have but we were going away, didn't really want to do it at someone elses's house! Thought I'd give it a go anyway as it was the first time and a bit exciting. It showed a neg result. The next day we were active anyway before we went away- I'm new to this (website not intercourse!:o ) not sure how to phrase that! But we concieved anyway.

So my long story's moral is if the test says yes, you've a good chance of everything working out!:) All the best, ps the preg test worked well too!!

Well - I'm heading home from work - will do another OPK tonight to check that I am ovulating, and then will start thawing out the little boys if its time

Getting nervous and excited! I dont have the i'net at home, and dont think I will head out to the i'net cafe tonight (unless its a really WEAK positive OPK again).

Chat with ya'll tomorrow  Wish me luck! :o :p

Sorry Ally, about your phone call and the negative OPK.

I hope you recover soon, don't let her get you too worked up. You need to be in excelent condition for this ttc mission, and that means emotionally as well as physically, she obviously isn't worth your tears. We're here for you.

{{{hugs}}}

I still haven't O'd (ovulated that is...) Hmm - I wonder if the stress of the week is stopping it? I have been doing an OPK every day and haven't got a double line yet! Was expecting it yesterday...

Does anyone know if stress can adversely affect ovulation?

JATS
15-01-2006, 20:22
yes it can unfortunatly :(

Good Luck

Really... Stress does interesting things to a persons body... Hmm - I hope that it puts it off til DH gets home!!! What wonderful timing that would be :p

Not that I dont like the idea of using frozen little boys...

Hi Ally, I'm sorry if this is a silly question, it just popped into my head as I was reading your thread.

After you've defrosted the sperm, do you check their alive and wriggling with a microscope before you use it?

Sorry if this is a silly question, just wondered.

MilkOnTap
16-01-2006, 08:57
Not a silly question at all! I dont have a microscope or anything to make sure they're alive. I will just use them and if it works it works, if it doesn't, it doesn't. Not much to it really. At this rate though DH might be home!!! I thought I would have O'd by now but still nothing. Am getting a tinsy bit impatient.

Though, even if I do O it could be on the wrong side, and then I'm getting all ahead of myself for nothing anyway.

Awww ya poor thing, I know saying "dont stress" must drive you nuts, so i will avoid saying it LOL

If I were you I would get a microscope...you could get a kids cheap kit for about $15...that way you would know for sure, and even experiment with defrosting tempatures see what works, and what to avoid etc.

At least this way you will know if they little boys are ready to do the job ;)

Absolute best luck to you Ally..

I really hope your hubby comes home and you have fun trying the old fashioned way ;)

I have a $200 microscope and it dosen't do a powerful enough magnification to see the 'lil boys' (ben there, tried that!).

Good Luck Ally! Thinking of you.

Hehehe - If I had a microscope that strong I probably would put the little boys on there too!!! Did you see anything when you used it? What did your DH say? Was it his idea or yours? So many questions!!! :D

JATS
16-01-2006, 09:33
Was my idea :o we had been ttc for 18 months and I'd been given the all-clear so I decided to see if I could see anything under the microscope. the 'goo' was too thick, so it wouldn't spread thinly enough over the slide to be useful, and the magnification wasn't high enough to see anything anyway. I think DH was relieved it didn't work

4 months later I was up the duff anyway!

Wow i'm surprised the microscopes didnt work. I think we (well most of us LOL) go through the stage of doing silly things and looking through the microscope to see what it looks like...and yeah we looked at the boys LOL

Was very interesting, and yeah it was just a cheapy and yes we did see them.

Anyway which ever way you go, I hope it works for you :)

That would have been fantastic! I'd love to see them - how awesome! I'm scared of doing it with the 'samples' that I have though - cause there isn't a whole lot in each (and there is sure to be some wastage) I'd hate to do that and then find that there is none left for me to 'do the deed' so to speak!
