I just wanted to share something inspirational......

DH left school in year 9 as he was never a "natural learner". We have since discovered that he has dyslexia.

Anyways 2 years ago he started an adult apprenticeship to become an electrician. The practical side is not too much of a concern however there is a lot of maths/physics involved in the theory side of things. The first couple of Technical College blocks were a nightmare and DH became really negative and discouraged. He failed a lot of exams and had to go back and resit tests, so extra tutoring etc.

The hardest part was that the majority of apprentices in his class were all fresh out of school and had already covered the maths components at high school and were flying through their work.

He has some really great teachers who are willing to take their time and explain things to him in a manner that he understands.

Well his certificate just arrived in the mail and for his 2nd year college he has received passes, 3 credits and 1 High distinction :yelclap:

I am so proud of him for not giving up and admitting defeat. His dyslexia is a barrier that he is finally able to overcome. I am also extremely grateful to the teachers who have empowered him by taking the time to explain things in a way he can relate to.

That is a great story, thanks for sharing and congrats to him  .

He is a lucky guy to have you as he would have found it 1000 times harder without your support. Support is everything. So Congrats to you too

Wow, what an inspiration he is. Your children are lucky (and you) to have someone to look up to and someone who is willing to accept a health challange.

Well done, you should do something special together to celebrate!

Wow, that is excellant. If you/he didn't tell anyone about the dyslexia than you'd never even know with those scores! Well done, allot of non-dyselxia people would kill for those scores!
