I think it's normal, don't freak out! My bub was head down from about 28 weeks. As far as being "engaged" I think that's when the babies head drops into the pelvic area and is no longer "floating Free". It gets sort of a snug fit, well that's how it was explained to me anyway. They measure the engagement in "stations" - station "0" is when the bub is fully engaged in the bony parts of the pelvis and a bub that's at station -4 or -5 has only just started to engage. When i was 35 weeks I was told I was at -3 which made my Doc presume I would deliver early - 10 days after my due date and much swearing later my baby was born!! You know what they say about presuming......
Anyways Good luck, I hope that was of some help
:p

Hi First Time Mum,

Mum2Maddie is right, I think it's normal for your baby's head to be engaged at 32weeks. My bubs head was and stayed at 3/5 engaged right up to my 40week check up, where my midwife told me that it didn't look like our baby was in a hurry to be born :( . She arrived 2 days late!

It's a good thing for your bub to be head down & engaged now, it means that they'rein the right position for birth!!

Good Luck with the big day.

Hello,

I gave birth to my first son Nathan at 32 weeks. In the middle of my labour I was getting myself worked up about going into labour early, telling my husband that this should not be happending and in the end it didn't matter. He weighed 2.86kilo's which is a very healthy size. :)

My boy was engaged from 32 weeks and came four days late. I was just happy he was locked in and things were where they should be. Other babies can engage fully almost overnight, or during labour! I think it just allows for a more progressive labour if bubs is already halfway there, if you know what I mean, but then again I could be wrong! Good luck and enjoy. ;)
