Rent.....How much?

Can I ask anyone who is willing to tell me ow much your fortnightly income is and how much you pay for rent? I want to get an idea what my budget should be.

about $1500 at the moment and we pay $500 a fortnight rent.

I get about $850 a fortnight and I pay rent of $220 a fortnight. .though I share so its a little cheaper

Our rent is an allotment in my husbands pay (he is in the navy). I'm not sure what it really works out to in the end after allowances and whatnot, but before meeting him I refused to pay more than 25-30% of my wage in rent.

We get $2400 a fortnight and our rent is $250 a fortnight but my DF is in the Army so the rent is alot cheaper. We are lucky in that was i guess because it gives us a chance to save for a house deposit.

We bring in about $2200 a fortnight and pay $480 a fortnight in rent, we live in the country and when we move back in to town we should be down to about $440 a fortnight in rent.

We get about $2000 a fortnight but I am the same a some of the other ladies...my husband is in the Air Force so it's only about $350 in rent taken out before we get paid as an allotment

We have the cheapest rent in the whole of Australia I imagine... our rent has gone up BY TEN DOLLARS ONLY since I was... 15. So in 6 years! :eek:

We pay $150 a week. How super-cheap is that? It's not the best place, but it's certainly not the worst. Everything works, there's no holes in hte walls, it's been painted about 2 years ago, a re-carpeted and re-vinyled etc.

3 bedrooms (2 are very large and the other is pretty small... that's DD's room...lol).

I think we have awesome landlords if they only put this place up by $10 in the 6 years we've been here!

I work 4 days a week as a client manager for an insurance company and my DH is a supervisor and field service tech for earth moving equipment. I didnt really think we earn't that much lmao we always manage to spend it all :o

DF has just got a pay rise, so its about $3000 a fortnight.

We pay $130 a month for rent, which then means $32.50 a week for rent. (Company housing).

I could but I'm a single parent, I study and my whole fam is here. If I move it means I will have no-one to back me up if ever needed. I don't know what to do really? Any suggestions? Either a little more financially secure or fam support? Which one do I give up?

My husband and I are earn approx. $2600 a fortnight (I work part time, he works full time) and we pay $500 a fortnight in rent.

As a single parent, if you receive any Centrelink benefits, like Family Tax Benefit or Parenting Payment, you should also be able to get Rent Assistance, which on a low income could be anything up to $130-odd a fortnight... have you factored that in?

Yes, I did the rate estimator on the centrelink website. It came up with approx $900 a fortnight. That included rent assistence. I was thinking maybe I could work part time but I already do full time study and only see my DS 3 days a week as it is- can I really afford to work 1 or more of those days. He doesn't have a Dad as it is- would it be fair to take hihs Mum away as well?

Lee, you can do it:D it will be hard but no matter how much money you get you will always find a way.. $900 a fortnight is ok. some people who work dont get that much

I guess it depends how what kinda place you get. before getting my dep of housing house. i was paying $165 a week (i got $850 a fortnight)
