My little guy who is almost 2 1/2 won't go to the toilet. He knows when he was to go and what he needs to do but as soon as he gets there he screams blue murder. i have tried everything from timers to treats, no pants, pull ups, proper undies, a small toilet seat on the big one, the potty and even a little loo that lights up and sings when he does go. I even ;et him take a book for distraction.
I'm stumped, any ideas?

I would leave him a while longer. Let him come in to the loo with you, maybe with a potty on the floor. Talk to him tell him what you are doing and softly try to encourage him to sit on the potty. Even if he has pants or a nappy on. Just get him to see that it doesnt hurt and there is nothing to be scared about. Sounds like he is scared of the loo for some reason, so until he is less scared then IMO dont force it. Some people are paranoid (not saying you :) ) and strict in their belief all kids have to be toilet trained by 3ys, but every child will do it in their own time (again IMO). The more stressed you get about it the more stressed he will too. Maybe just be very casual about it and he will probably come around.

good luck!

Thanks for the advice!!:) Gross moment - I have just encouraged him to come in with me to the loo. He had a good inspection and gave me the loo paper, then asked if he could go!!!He actually went without a problem. :yelclap: I think I will just wait a little longer before trying to train him again just encourage him to visit with me if he is interested.

i've heard of people drawing a face on the back of the toilet lid and telling the child that they need to feed it, which sounds a bit odd lol,
