I love this show! It's so funny
Honestly though, why would you sign up for it? Naturally they're going to swap you with your complete opposite! It's great entertainment value! :p

I think I would. You'd have to look at it as a learning curve, and do your best to deal with it. Some of the women on there get really emotional, but I guess its easier to take that step back when you aren't involved in the situation.

It can be entertaining sometimes though. I love the look of horror some of the families get when it's the new mums turn to set the rules. :D

I love to get my DH to watch it so he can appreciate me more:D

But seriously, I wonder a lot about the people who sign on for any of those type of 'reality' shows. I really enjoy wife swap, and my favourite part is when they show the changes at the end. Especially when they've been so pigheaded at the beginning that their way is the only way.:p

I would be too scared to sign up. I have it pretty cruisy at home. DH helps out alot. I don't want him to realize that not all households are like that! I wasn't made to clean! :p ;) :D

I belong to a US parenting forum, and it seems to be well-known over there that the families who participate in this show get $50,000 each for their trouble. Even so, I don't know if I'd do it. Not when my kids are young, anyway. I think it would be too confusing for them. Did you see that little boy last night, crying when the hippy took away all his toy guns??? :(

(I don't think kids should be allowed to have toy guns, so I agree with the hippy on that one - but the poor little boy, he didn't understand it was only for a week, and I don't think it was fair for him.)

Tee hee, my situation is the same! I never tell him that other girls complain about how much more they have to do than their partner - for me it's almost the opposite!

As for wifeswap, I thought that the army dude was a lovely, soft and gentle man, his wife was a bit full on, but obviously a nice person too. I was surprised that I empathized with the army family as I am way more hippy than military!

aww i missed last nights!!

i didnt realise they get $50,000.

Well you girls are lucky to have very helpful DH's.
My DF is a very romantic softy. i will give him that and will do anything for me. yet i cant get him to do my housework!
he buys me flowers constantly . but sometimes would appreciate the help around the house instead hehe

anyways, so no one here would go on the show?
cant say i prolly would either haha.

i did always say i would go on Big Brother if i didnt have to shower naked or do any naked scenes!!

That was hilarious! I guess she just kind of reverted to what she knew... there was no way on earth he was going to do anything for her... he was a bit aggressive with her though, I would be ashamed to see my son make someone cry like that.

Yeah I agree and I think the dad was a bit embarrassed about it.....

But to ask him to say yes maam no maam WAS a bit much :p

Ahhh! The cheese factor is what makes it though.

Do you remember in one of the police academy movies the busty blonde who made the recruits yell "yes maam!"

My friends were going to nominate me for the australian version. I seriously had to really talk them out of it - I would have loved it but DH was furious!

There was another version of the show where the $50K was talked about and the 'new' wife got to decide how it was divided up...was much funnier than the current one.

Not sure if this is a new way of presenting the same series, or if the currently screening version of wife swap is a different form (ie doesn't have the $50K). One of the current news articles up about it is that there is a current legal suit pending. Apparently the husband is sueing the show for the fact that they swapped his wife for a gay husband. He's sueing the producers for $10 million, in the article I read it stated that the family get a $5000 'honorarium' payment. You wouldn't get me in there for $5K - there's too much they manipulate about each person on the show.:p

PS I think it was very sad to see last night how close minded that Dan was...he didn't want to listen to anything. I hope that I can instill a better sense of respect in my children.

I thought Dan was very rude and the husband obviously thought so too. Such a shame, but that's teenagers for you I suppose.

I love this show, I never miss it. They all seem to end up appreciating their own partners much more, which makes it all gooey and mushy and happy ever after at the end! aw.

Peagus the show your talking about is called "Trading Spouses" its on Saturday afternoons on W Channel.

I do enjoy those shows, but I am a bit skeptical that the shows are actually "real". Like someone mentioned, everyone is all set in their ways til the end when they suddenly have this change of heart------same with "Supernanny"--some of those kids are little devils and I just cant see how in a few weeks a "naughty" corner is gonna change their behavior.

And what about "How Clean Is Your House", anyone seen this show???? All the houses are EXACTLY the same mess! Who in their right mind would go on television with a house in such a state as those houses?????

Ok enough complaining!!:p

one thing I can't understand with trading spouses and wifeswap and supernanny.. is how people don't clean.
It's not like a camera crew turn up at their house. and go "HEY YOU'RE LIVE ON AIR" and they just leave there house in such a mess!!

And on Supernanny, they KNOW a camera is watching them but for the 2 days the Supernanny is gone, even with a camera following them, they still do things that she told them not to do. I just can't believe that people would do things like that. :p

Maybe I'm miss perfect (when the cameras are on ;))

but I still watch the shows.. I love the drama.

I love that show - my house looks perfect compared to theirs! :D

Seriously though I have gotten some handy hints on what to use though - white vinegar is excellent for cleaning now I know thanks to the show.

We have gotten into the habit of watching that "You Are What You Eat" show, as a way to discuss healthy food choices with Vallerie.
(*ahem* and also to try to shame myself into eating better :o )

It's funny though, she'll ask me "Mum, is that fat-people show on today?" LOL
