My wedding band and engagement ring were my geat grandmothers. The bands are both solid 18ct yellow gold. They are over 100 years old.

Same here... a band of white gold, inset with diamonds all around... was an uncollected layby, so we got it for half it's value. Had to have hubby's ring made (big fingers), and it only cost one quarter of what we paid:eek:

Friends of mine are getting married in September. The groom's ring is going to be made from plutonium! It's being imported from the US.

yellow gold for ours.
We've got both 18ct white gold and yellow gold on our matching rings. It's a tri-band ring with the yellow bordering the white.

Both my wedding and engagement ring are 18ct yellow gold with diamond solitaire for the engagement and 9 smaller diamonds on my wedding band. DH's ring is is two tone yellow and white 18ct gold.
My engagement ring is platinum and my wedding ring is titanium
I wear my engaement ring on my other hand as we wanted something special and matching for our wedding bands.

My wedding and engagement rings are yellow gold. DH's is two-tone white and yellow gold.
my engagement is 18ct yellow gold but the diamonds are set in 18ct white (princess cut shoulder diamonds and big prin cut diamond in middle) and my wedder is yellow , with prin cut shoulder diamonds set in white too.
my hubbys wedder is same as my wedder with fewer but bigger diamonds.

My engagement ring is 18ct yellow gold. My wedding ring will be 18ct yellow gold and I will be getting it made.
DF's wedding ring will also be 18ct yellow gold.
We're very traditional in that way :)

I was really shocked when I got engaged about how mostrings these days are made of 9ct!! We actually found it hard to get 18ct in what we wanted so we had all ours custom made- and I know that sounds really expensive but can you believe it was cheaper and heavier and better than what I could have bought already made.
Would really recommend getting at least a quote for your engagement and wedding rings to be custom made and compare the prices!!

For the people with white gold, have you had to have the re-plated yet? I have had mine for a year and already they need to be erodium plated - which is apparently $35 per ring. I think this needs to be done about every 18 months. I didn't know that about white gold. Hubby's ring is fine though, still nice and shiny. Mine just look very dull.

Hubby and I both have yellow gold. Our wedding bands are matching.
My eternity ring will the yellow gold as well with a row of diamonds across the middle.

Hi I have 18ct white gold ring as well. I had to have it made bigger when i got it back i did see they had shined it up i dont worrie to much about it now though i have had mine for over 3.5 years now and still looks good. Mind you i have big dimond coming out of the top of it with little dimonds around the side so i dont see the band as much. I was ment to get the matching wedding ring for it but at the time h2b could not find the cash to pay for it so we left if only to find now we carnt get it and so h2b went shopping and got a plan band with dimonds around it. Hes a good buyer my wedding ring is valued at $1300 and he got it for $700 my engagement ring was $2500 and end up getting it for $1999 so he ended up saving quite a bit. I know nothing about rings i took mine to shields to get it re-sized with in the week the band had cracked when i took it back to the store they told me that when any ring gets re-sized they can be problems with bracking or cracking they said to me that fixing it will be my cost and could take up to 10 days. i could not get over it and cryed. i still wear it wit the crack in it and now need to take it some where to get it fixed but stuck on who to take it to.

I don't like yellow gold, so my engagement ring is white gold, and my wedding ring is white gold with a very fine edging of yellow gold (DH's is the same, we got matching wedding bands)

I work in a library so DF in his wisdom got platinum - much harder wearing. Its a beautiful ring too - designed it all on his lonesome and had a friend make it.
Gotta have platinum! My mother is from Portugal and had some platinum earrings, so when I had the chance, I searched for a gorgeous platinum ring. It cost more, but I think it is worth it, being a rarer metal.

Yellow gold with diamonds for my engagement and eternity rings but that's because DF is a uni student and could only afford like $2,500 a piece but I've told him that once he starts working full time I expect new ones and they have to be platinum and diamond.
Too bad if he doesn't want to coz I'll just buy them myself with his money!! :p
Both mine are white gold. The engagement ring was re-plated but not my wedding band yet.

my engagement ring is white and yellow gold so I had a ring made for my wedding ring it's gold and then hubby had another ring made so it was a set as it was our 4 yr ann the day we got married that was gold but had a white gold setting. They are pretty but as i wear silver and white gold a lot they are good coz i'm not restricted to what colour i wear
