View Full Version : Bah!!!
Ok we are having troubles all of a sudden.
Rhianna has always been a heavy wetter, but lately she is wetting through EVERYTHING almost as soon as it is on her. It is unbelievable. Even through newly lanolised soakers, with a bamboo fitted underneath! She isn't drinking a great deal more than usual, and there are times when she stays completely dry for awhile (not wetting) but then WOOSH soaked. :gloomy:
Is it possible that she is learning to hold her wee's already (at 12months) or do you think I need to try a strip wash? If so how do I do it :o
I am at a bit of a loss and it is getting so frustrating. The other day in her peapod she had it on for half an hour and it was so wet it felt like I had dropped the whole thing in a tub of water. Normally they would last her up to 2 hours.
Please help us :fingerscrossed:

She is possibly learning to hold so it may be a case of needing to boost the nappies that little bit more.
Boof is a fast heavy wetter too & i find that while bamboo is great i need all the boosters in to cope with how much he wets. He cant use hemp alone as the nappy just gets saturated within minutes when he does wee so i combine a small hemp insert with a microfibre which does the trick. I find the microfibre holds the wee better but then you do have to watch for compression leaks.
Maybe you need to use a booster on the outside of the nappy against the soaker/ cover. Many have success boosting this way.
It also may be a case of needing to try out a different nappy as different babies suit different types with different boosting needs.
If you have tried all of the above then im afraid it may be a case of doing a strip wash. Basically its a hot wash but you obviously cant do that with a wool soaker ! Then rinsing them through until you dont get any suds. Many suggest using dishwashing detergent for the hot strip wash but ive never needed it.
Ummm thats all i can think of hopefully others will have some other ideas ! Good luck !
Thanks Ally it is much appreciated :hugs:
With the boosting I have already been boosting with microfibre and hemp/bamboo. Thats why I am starting to get frustrated, as I feel like I am going to need so much inside her nappies that I will never find any clothes to fit! (LOL That is a whole other gripe- sposie clothes )
I have almost every different type of nappy on the planet too :o and it seems to be happening with all of them... I don't know it's just so weird how it changed so quickly.
This was happening with Av about a month ago.
He would wet straight through so the nappy would be wet in one spot and it was as though it went through like a bullet! Almost like he had nothing on at all.
Hubby tried a terry face washer and it works well. So now I boost with the terry. I think hemp and bamboo take it in slowly where as terry is quicker - more thirsty.

do you put the microfibre on top of the hemp in her pockets Billy?
Don't know what to suggest, Noah's doing the same thing, he is much bigger than R though
:crying:
Maybe it's just a phase :fingerscrossed:
Yeah Em the microfibre is on top of the hemp too...
That sounds like an idea too Kymmy... except I don't own terry's LOL Started with only MCN's  ;) Do you still use your hemp/bamboo underneath the terry? :detective: Was Av wetting through your soakers too Kym?
Most of the time the wetness starts at the edges of her legs, but now I don't even seem to get a warning before everything is wet! To look at her pockets you can't even tell because they just look like a shade darker- then you touch them... Ewww soaked.
 Coming through wool  Though the soaker wouldn't be wet.
We use terry face washers. Wouldn't be too exy to get a few if you don't have any. A few bucks, just to see if it helps?
ETA - we fold the face washer in thirds and still use hemp and bamboo
ITs so funny - Av likes stuffing boosters done into his nappy or woollies.
Yeah thats a good idea Kym
Rhianna's soakers were (dare I say it??) SOAKED! Like I mean wet. And normally I would have to leave her in a nappy for hours for that to happen (not that I would, just if she has slept longer than expected).

Hrrrmmmm if its coming through at the legs then that sounds like the stuffing isnt sitting right.
Maybe not the right cut but then you say its happening with all of them so thats really weird !
The soakers being saturated is also another interesting one ! Maybe it is a case of them needing to be stripped !
Sorry hun i cant think what else it could be !!!!
Thanks so much for your help guys, I am going to try a strip wash asap to see if that helps first- then we'll cross the next bridge. ;)
Thank you all
:fingerscrossed:
Im in the process of strip washing too. All my pocket nappies are doing the same thing. Very frustrating.
Hopefully it will work for us, or I'll be stumped.
Let me know how you go!
I will definitely update here once I have done it K.
I haven't had a chance yet :o I actually want to clean my washing machine out first with those dishwasher tablet cleaner things.
So if you do it first- let me know how you go LOL ;)
I haven't had a chance yet :o I actually want to clean my washing machine out first with those dishwasher tablet cleaner things.
You can do that? I never would have thought of it!
Anyway, the pockets and hemp are on the first cycle. Apparently you need to do it a few times!:fingerscrossed:
Yes apparently you can!! Mine desperately needs a good clean out- it's so gross... :barf:
I will have to find a free day next week to wash nappies ALL day LOL

To clean your washing machine, you can also do an empty hot wash with a teeny tiny little drip of morning fresh liquid
Awesome thanks for that Renee!
