Yet another question about my 14mnth dd. I'm not really sure how much the average toddler drinks but I have a feeling my dd is drinking and awful lot!
Just this evening she drank a whole 250ml bottle of diluted apple juice, she shortly after that had about the same amount of milk!
During the day she'll have only a little milk after breakfast (she also has a b/f). She'll have water with her morning tea at childcare, about 200-250mls milk with lunch. I know she'll have water with afternoon tea and I've yet to check with the childcare about how much she drinks. And then all afternoon once I pick her up, it's just non stop drinking! Is this too much?? I'm just thinking that diabetics seem to drink a lot but I'm not sure what the other symptoms are. And as I've said, I don't know what the average bub drinks but she does seems awfully thirsty don't you think?

Oh I should mention that she just started antibiotics for an ear infection (yesterday) so I'm not sure if that would make her more thirsty than usual? She's been thirsty like this for a few weeks now...Do you think I should raise it with a doctor or is it nothing to be concerned about? Otherwise she happy and healthy...

The antibiotics could definately be making her thirtsy:yes:

Also, juice actually makes you thirsty as well....all that sugar and other stuff dehydrates you:yes:

IT doesnt sound too over the top to me, my boys never stop drinking their water and milk but go with your gut,if you think somethings wrong then check itour, for your own peace of mind.

It also sounds like she isnt drinking enogh at chirldcare....I have heard many people say that their kds come home very thirsty.

I agree with ffrenchstar, It doesn't sound too excessive to me. try only offering her water and milk and see if it makes a difference.
My niece was diagnosed with diabeties at 2 1/2 and she was drinking a cup of water every hour and weeing all the time. other signs of diabeties is sudden weight gain or weight loss, excessive tiredness, sores that don;t heal and breath that smells like acidtone (nail polish remover)

If you are still worried ask you GP

Good luck

doesn't sound to much to me as well

also milk is more of a food source rather than a fluid source at that age still,
