Has anyone seen the DVD on Dunstan's baby language? Personally when i heard about it i thought what a crok of s@!t - this woman is going to make a fortune taking advantage of mums wanting to do the best for their bubs. but......my sister got a second hand copy from ebay, and she lent it to me, and now I am a convert. I remember with DD you could tell she had different cries, but it took a while to figure out what each one meant. With DS I can't always figure it out straight away, but if you listen to his cry - he does say the 'words' for certain things.

He woke the other night, and was saying the 'word' for uncomfortable - so i picked him up & he had puked all over himself & it had gone down the bedding & all over his back. I changed him & the bed and he went back to sleep. now if this had been before i watched the DVD, i probably would have fed him too, as it had been almost 3hrs since his last feed. But as he wasn't saying he was hungry, only uncomfortable, I only changed him & he slept for another hour! You are probably reading this thinking 'yeah right' she's full of it. lol. But I was wondering if anyone else has watched it & had success? DH said a guy at work uses it for his 3month old & thinks it works too.

I was given a burnt copy of the DVD and to be completely honest, other than the "neh" for hunger and the "ow" for tired (which I already just knew myself from learning from my daughter) I haven't really been able to pinpoint the other sounds. Although there have been moments where I think my son is making certain sounds for uncomfortable but they don't seem the same as what is on the DVD. I am happy going with my instincts, which so far I hope have been right!:D I think though if you and anyone else finds the DVD helpful then that is awesome. I reckon whatever gives you confidence with your newborn is a good thing!

Hi Tan , I watched the t.v show about it & wrote down the words and their meanings. I somehow misplaced the paper i wrote it down on, could you let me know what they are etc. I remembered hunger but that was it. Thanks, Alli xxoo

i used to work in a child care centre and we started doing baby sign language with the babies and i was a bit sceptical at first but then when parents started asking more about it cause their little ones were doing it home i was shocked and began being more of a natzi towards it and it was amazing!!!
definately looking at doing it with my little Charlie when she arrives.

It only works up to 6mths, but Ava used to say "Eh" for burping and "Neh" for hunger a lot.

She would do the Ow when she was real tired but it was harder to recognise for me.

She did eairh when she had pains in the tummy but that was also very hard to recognise... not that it mattered cos you can tell when bubs has a sore belly pretty easily :)

She wasn't uncomfortable often so we didn't get much of the 'meh'.

I seem to have it down pat now, Isaac has a distinct hunger cry and his little actions that go along with it (like rooting for the nipple). He also has a distinct cry (or rather scream) for farty wind.....! When he is tired he has a whiny sort of cry.

hey... i havent seen it but i know without a doubt what aalliyah wants when she does cry... atm she's not crying a whole lot. she will let out the occasional wail when she's really hungry but normally its just sucking on her thumb REALLY enthusiastically lol... when she's tired she headbutts my shouler and squirms her head into every crack... when she's got wind she just makes a grunting noise.

im lucky i seem to understand her so well:yes:
