our wedding and honeymoon came to a mere 7 thousand dollars. We did all of the food, decorations and flowers ourselves. we had professional photographer, invites etc. everybody pitched in to help ie, family and friends which meant we all contributed and it is great for us all to look back on and it was the most special romantic day of our lives. You dont have to spend a fortune to have a great day and our 7 day honeymoon was perfect too.

I can't remember how much ours cost, but it wasn't much!! We hired our own cars and got good friends to drive them, we hired a community hall ( rememeber that to only be about $200) and got a caterer in with a buffet, got my bridesmaids dresses made to match my dress. My dress I think only cost around $400. I actually found my veil & train at a St. Vinnies store!! I didn't care, it was exactly what I wanted!! Then we kept one of the cars (statesman) to do a driving holiday for the week.

Ours cost $3500, including a week honeymoon in Tassie, clothes, buffet food, alcohol, decorations, flowers, hair, cars...

We had 215 guests and food to spare!

And an absolutely wonderful day. Friends reckon it's the best wedding they've ever been to.

Agreed, ours was a bit over yours but my dress cost $1000, we had about 70 guests, relies did the food cheap but was a trad church wedding and reception.
I try to only remember the good bits and my committment on that day and the fantastic cocktails consumed with another bride at the hotel afterwards. Biggest waste of money ever, cause was over so quick, too many people I hardly even knew, wasn't how I really wanted t celebrate but coerced to keep others happy and filled with conflict because of warring, divorced parents and inlaws who hate alcohol.
Oh well, will maybe have to renew our vows in a few years for 20th anniversary with only my choice of dearly loved ones present on a remote beach somewhere, in a bikini and lotsa cocktails. Staying together for a fortnight there as well of course cause I got no honeymoon first time around.

Ours went like this....
Dress $300 Wedding rings $150 each Celebrant $300 Restuarant dinner approx $500 (we only had my mum, step dad, dad, father in law, sister, sister in law and her hubby and friend at the wedding) Cake $70 Photographer $200 (got married at 5pm on a Monday so it was play money for the photographer) Honeymoon Apollo Bay for 5nights ($1000 at most for everyhing). Hair and makeup done free from a friend in beautician training. Flowers for me (I had no bridesmaids or anything) done by my sister's mother in law for free (flowers were fake).

Was stress free organising. Sometimes though I would have liked a bigger wedding but hey it went off without a hitch (so to speak :D )

Total $2520.

we spent 12,000 and wish mine wasn't as big as it was, the day went so god damn fast there was no point really a nice quiet low key ceremony would have been fine. I did love my wedding i jsut look back and think what a waste.

We spent about $20 000 (I know people spent a LOT more than this!) Our wedding was really important to us - we didn't live together beforehand and it was a huge day in our lives so I dont' regret spending that much - I would have spent more had we had it. It will always be one of the happiest days of my life - you become properly joined to the love of your life!

I think a wedding is what you can comfortably afford and not get stressed out about. It's supposed to be the happiest day of your life - not a contest for the biggest, fanciest reception and a big stress fest!

We spent around $10,000,we had 40 guests. It was $135 per head but that was for a buffet dinner,desserts,4 hour drinks package(as much as you can drink hehe)DJ,all decorations.
The venue was the biggest thing we paid for, things like shoes, jewellery etc was real cheap. My dress was $300,shoes $20,jewellery $20 etc.
Yes,the day does go sooooo fast but we spent $2,220 on photography and dvd so we can always look back and remember the day.
