View Full Version : RWH Randwick - what to pack/ what not
Hi, I'm a first time mum-to-be (6 weeks to go) and have been told that i should have my hospital bag packed but also realise that different hospitals provide different things.
Can anyone who's had a baby recently at the Royal Women's Hospital in Randwick give me a heads up on what i do need to pack, i am planning on breastfeeding and using disposeable nappies(but am happy to use cloth in hospy if provided).
Thank you :)

Hi there
I'm having a c/sect at the RWH Randwick on Monday - so I will know a bit more afterwards
This is my list - I might have gone a little OTT with a few things, but I figure its easier just to have it ALL there than to try and explain to hubby what to bring me back from home LOL.

Thank you Pink Lady and good luck with your c/sect on monday. l
et us know how it goes.
Selfish on my part but half wish i was having a c/sect as am petrified about giving birth.
Let me know after you get home what you did and didn't need at the hospital if you get a chance.
My bubba is due on the 28th June but who knows when it will make its grand appearance.
I had my daughter there a year ago
My bag had
600 pairs of knickers OK, OK 20 you might bleed a lot lol
4 packs of pads
Nursing bras if you intend to breastfeed
Night dress/PJ's
Breast pads for leaky boobs!
Personal wash things
Wet wipes life saving better than toilet paper and if you have a vag birth more gentle on your foo foo :D
Dressing gown
4 changes of clothes
Camera
Energy sweets
Gatorade
Arnica tablets to help with recovery
Socks your feet get so cold!
Jumpers you will get cold!
Diary to write about labour and birth etc
Baby bag
Wraps/Blanket
Outfits if you wish, at Randwick they give you little gowns for the baby, but I took my own clothes for her.
Nappies around 20 they provide cloth/terry towelling at first
Bottles if you intend on Bottle feeding
Olive oil I used this to massage into my baby as she had really dry skin and she enjoyed the massages
hats sometimes it gets cool at night
Um that's all I can remember I took loads of other stuff, but that is everything I used :D
Hope that helps!

I had both of ours there and another thing to add to what Pinklady and pixie said was bum wipes for the baby as they give you nappy liners to clean baby with when changing nappies
also slippers and or shoes as you have to walk down the corridor to get you food from the meal area or if you wanted to go down stairs for a walk etc
P.S the midwives in the ward are great afterwards:thumbsup:
One of those squirt top water bottles. Good for use during labour but also to wash your sore old fanny after wees later on.
Straws. Can't emphasise the importance of a bendy straw. You get very thirsty when breastfeeding and the cup is hard to manage when you're grappling with a baby.
The most lush, plush and thick toilet roll that money can buy. Yes, they supply toilet paper but it's not the best - especially if you're all sore down there.
muslim wrap x 3
Oh dear, the imagery ...
