Thanks to everyone who replied to my 'I'm too chicken..... thread'. I've ordered some nappies and they are sitting at the post office right now. but I can't get them until after 4pm :( - I was out when they came by this morning!! DOH!! I can't wait to go and get them!! I've got a BP (firestorm) and BG AIO and 2 ittis and a bumware on order today. Next we'll try pockets...

Anyway - I'm sure these have been asked, but I am too time poor to go seaching... my Q's are:
1. What detergent is best? I have Amolin and Radiant here at the moment, but I'm happy to go to the supermarket today to get something suitable for the nappies.

2. I realise I have some that take a while to fully dry. With the pre-washing... do they have to be fully dry before washing them again or will a day on the line be enough?

3. Also with pre-washing, could I just hand wash and spin them?

4. With the nappies I mentioned above, how many pre-washes will be enough before we can use them? And with the AI2s is it just the inserts that need the multiple washes or the covers too?

Thanks heaps!!

1. I'd go for the Amolin rather than the Radiant. Radiant has a lot of "fillers" in it plus fragrance which is not good for skin. There are plenty of cloth nappiers that use Amolin as it's good for sensitive skin. Another to try is Planet Ark/Aware.

2. These next 2 Q's relate to hemp and bamboo. And this Q is arguable. Some say they should be dry between washes others say it doesn't matter. Personally I have never bothered and it hasn't made a difference as far as I'm concerned.

3. They really need to be done in the machine on a long cycle. Preferrably warm the first 3-4 times. After that they can be used but won't reach their full absorbency until about 10 washes. If you've only got a few to do just put them in with a load of your other washing.

4. Answered this Q a bit already. The AI2 covers don't need the wash to increase absorbency as it's not for soaking up anything!! Just a wash as you normally would when buying something new.

HTH:) Can't wait to hear back about how you go.
