View Full Version : Bubhub Sew Off #3!!!
Shanaynay
20-05-2007, 19:39
The theme is DISNEY and the Sew-Off runs for 2 weeks: closes Sunday evening, June 3rd.
I hope no-one minds, I'm keen to get the third Sew-Off happening!!!
If you are new to the Bubhub Sew-Offs, all you have to do is sew something that fits with the current theme. This is in the cloth nappy section, so most of us are doing modern cloth products, but if you don't use cloth nappies it's cool if you want to join us and make something else that fits with the theme, such as kid's clothes
Congrats to HoopDeeDoo for winning the second Sew-Off.... Hoop did you pick "Disney" as the theme?
Closing date 2 weeks...... so Sunday the 3rd of June?

Yep if thats cool with everyone, I thought Disney would spread over girls and boys, and we should get lots of different entries. What does everybody think?

Right... I have done this one... but i really really dont like it... So back to the drawing board...
It was a "Princess" inspired nappy... You know - how her dress has a blue top and a yellow skirt...
well... ill come back and post.... some one smells a bit woofy!
The nappy... (http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n111/The_Lee_Family/My%20MCN/28052007603.jpg) Back... cant be bothered with the front...
My little PRINCEss throwing a tanty... (http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n111/The_Lee_Family/My%20MCN/28052007608.jpg)
my little PRINCEss trying to escape (http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n111/The_Lee_Family/My%20MCN/Untitled-1.jpg)
So yeah... like i said, back to the drawing board.

  That Nemo Nappy is soooo awesome!!!! Fantastic job!!!
Bekky the princess nappy is very nice, but I can understand why G was trying to escape  Poor little fella. I think it's great though - it would look fab with a matching top
Poor Lachaln pulled out the cord for my foot pedal about 10 ten this afternoon trying to get me to focus all my attension on him. I was actually sewing a nappy for a friend that I promised her weeks and weeks ago - not the sew off. But I kept sewing when Scott got home and here is my entry:
inside ready to go (http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r25/hoopdeedoo/DSC00025-1.jpg)
inside flipped out (http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r25/hoopdeedoo/DSC00026.jpg)
outside layed out (http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r25/hoopdeedoo/DSC00027.jpg)

Action pics
front (http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r25/hoopdeedoo/actionfront.jpg)
back (http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r25/hoopdeedoo/actionback.jpg)
It's a night nappy for Noah that has 7 layers of bamboo in the wet zone once it's put together, so it should work well.
I'll get action pics tomorrow he was a bit too moody for that tonight

Omg Hoop I absolutely LOVE that print.... it's gorgeous.... what sort of material? I love it.... where did you get it from?
HoopDeeDoo
28-05-2007, 21:55
It's 100% cotton patchwork fabric, and I got it from
The Patchwork Shop my parents own - Where I work occasionally
It was a freebee, because there was a fault in it, but it was easy to cut around :smiliedance: I could get you some if you like, I think there is some left - without faults of course

Oh Hoop I would LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE some it's so gorgeous!!! I don't care how much it is - I must have it :D Next time you're there can you see if there is some left, (about 55cm in length? - width whatever it comes in - obviously at least 55cm) and PM me with details so I can deposit some $$ into your account for it?

Wow:eek: What great entries so far! Love that Nemo nappy LP!
You girls are all so very, very clever.
Hoop - that print is absolutely beautiful. I love Winnie the Pooh. Isaac also loves Winnie the Pooh (he doesn't have much of a choice - Mummy sort of inflicts it on him:D ). I do believe that your parents' shop is going to become a favourite haunt of mine once I get to Canberra:laughing: It's not going to be good for the bank account at all.
Keep those entries coming girls, you're inspiring me to pull out the machine and start cutting up my material.

Try working there  I don't actually take any pay home at all, I think my account is about -$400 ATM  It was so good not being tempted while I was having/looking after babies 24/7.

Well done Hoopdeedoo!!
Is Noah old enough to know its whinnie the pooh?
I noticed you used a different pattern to usual.. what is this one?
HoopDeeDoo
29-05-2007, 15:03
Oh yes! We read Whinnie the Pooh a lot, we have about 7 different book sets because I was Whinnie the Pooh obsessed before I had kids and everyone who knows me knows that so we got given a lot of books. So he knows all about it. Plus he has a couple of DVDs, they have rereleased some of the old cartoons.
His fav toys that he used to carry everywhere for ages was a Whinnie the Pooh, and Tigger, that were half the size of him, but he insisted he had to carry them where ever he went, and they still have to be in bed with him when he goes to sleep.
this is Noah when we were on holidays, we had just gone to the Wiggles Concert in Wollongong (http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r25/hoopdeedoo/DSC00008-1.jpg)
This is my pattern, I just prefer snaps for fitteds, cause the velcro gets caught on the soakers. I just extended the wings until it was about the length it would be if they were velcro tabs. I changed it since The Wiggles fitted, I wanted 2 layers of snaps, I think this gives a better fit.
I have now added action shots to my original photo post :)

The minnie one is great, did you chop a shirt up for that because i was looking at my spotty shirt exactly the same and was considering a minnie one.

It's an AI2, with a snap in booster (well, will be snap in, lol!)
I managed to find the spotty fabric at Spotlight actually, after looking for it for ages!!
Minnie is polar/micro fleece peices sewn together, then sewn onto the nappy. She took forever to make!

Can't find my camera cable so won't even bother taking a pic of mine - it's a bit boring anyhow, just Winnie The Pooh flanellette!
