to use lube or not

HI everyone,

I am sure this has been asked before but we are just stressing. Does using Lub during BD kill off sperm? It doesnt say anything on the bottle. Is it better not to use it?

Apparently some lubes can kill of sperm. There are some sperm friendly ones on the market, but I dont know what they are called, I just remember reading it somewhere.
I think some are easier for the spermies to swim through than others:D

The only sperm friendly lube I know of is Pre Seed...I have bought some...will let you know how it went in a couple of weeks :laughing:

That could be true, but if sex without it is uncomfortable or painful, then you're less likely to feel like doing it - and 'no sex' is going to prevent conception a lot more successfully than a bit of lubricant.

That Pre-Seed stuff sounds interesting. It's certainly investigating.

I got passed on some pre-seed as I'm ttc!! It says that it is safe to use while ttc, I haven't actually needed it.....yet!! I know quite a few people that have used it and has worked for them. I don't know if that's just a coincidence or not but worth a try. Definitely some are not safe to use.

Google it maybe, I'm sure it will explain a bit more there!!

I have some pre seed that I havent used yet, but the pamphlet I got with it said that most other lubricants dont necessarily kill off the sperm, but it has a different texture that the sperm cant move through as easily.
Using lube apparently drecreases your chances of conceiving by up to 70%.

I only found this out last month too, so that could be why we are still trying....

So I would say, either invest in some pre seed or try to BD without lube.

My doc told me to try with lube and then if we are having trouble conceiving to consider not using it. It inteferes with how sperm being able to swim where they are supposed to go.

Def a fan of preseed :yes: We used it for several cycles.. though, that said, the cycle we concived in, I had really bad thrush, and was using thrush cream, so I figured we were out of the race that month.!

This sounds pretty gross and I have not tried it but I read that a lubricant that is safe are egg whites. Not on my to try list but I thought is was pretty interesting. They also mentioned baby oil as being safe.

If anyone is planning on using eggwhite, please google first. There is some nasty bacteria in the egg yolk, and its very hard to keep the two completly seperate.

I was tempted to try :o but the bacteria risk freaked me out!

You shouldn't use any Lube or saliva while TTC they kill sperm they have spermacides in them, as far as i know the only one out is Pre Seed thats ok to use.

Same here.....we used it quite often and also got a BFP when TTC last year.

Hi everyone,

Thank you all so much for your advice. I had no idea that saliva was bad too. I guess i will try without and if needed look into preseed.

I hope that is why we are still TTC. We only started TTC in early March, but i already really stressing that it hasnt worked yet. SO many thoughts are going through my head, I think i just need to relax. I have so much respect for any of you girls that have been trying for quite awhile, it takes a lot of strength.
